“good and bad”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 11, 2013

went to the mamlouk palace last july with my wife and son (13) hotel itself to look at is fantastic the view from the terrace is amazing looking down at all the pools, all areas were kept spotless by the hard working staff, weather as usual for egypt was fantastic up 48 degrees!!! at the pools not a lot of sunbed space and not a lot of shade, which trust me you really need,ROOMS_ rooms are a fair size ,clean ,large enough for us (3) POOLS_pool area is very nice and clean pools are spotless slides are ok if your 13!!FOOD_ the buffet food (breakfast, lunch, dinner) in the mamlouk was not great bit repetative food at garden beach was a lot better (next door)BARS_drink was very poor spirits were awful all tasted the same even the cocktails!! beer was nice only because it was cold, waiters bring your drinks to you on the terrace which is just as well as half the bar staff dont have a clue !!ALA CARTE FOOD _the mexican is realy nice food is lovely good choice staff are excellent bend over backwards to make sure you have a nice time. Chinese is ok very small portions and in a hurry to get you in and out as soon as poss.OTHER GUESTS_well what can i say the hotel caters for lets say eastern europeans that are a law unto themselves they dont que for anything weather its the food the snack bars the bars they have to be first even if they dont actually know what it is they want to be first for, some of them not all are very rude, and all of them and i do mean all the men wear budgie smugglers oh yes all shapes and all sizes!!! Overall mamlouk palace is good not 5 star but ok most of the staff are nice would i return to this hotel? no but if you decide to go then ask for a room near main building we had room down at the beach and believe me its a long trek from your room in that heat !!!!

Room Tip: dont take rooms down at the beach ,long way to reception etc..

We were recommended this hotel by our travel agent, she has been 4 years on a row, after staying for a week we know why.
We like to go to Egypt in Winter as you are always made to feel special. this Hotel gives a whole new meaning to great service, and making their guests feel special.
I can say this is probably the best hotel I have ever stayed in.
All the bars and restaurants were open - which in some hotels we have stayed in over the quieter period does not happen.
On arrival we were greeted by the porter ( as I would have expected) the check in was very efficient.
one of the bonus is that it has a sister hotel which shares the 4 alacarts and numerous bars. you get the same service in either hotel.
the complex is large and has lovely gardens and 2 stunning pools. the bedrooms are clean and spacious..The bathrooms are great, with a double shower instead of a bath and bath robes.
We were lucky to have a room close to the beach with a sea view and only a 2 minute walk to the beach bar.(which is one of the probably 8 bars plus on the complex which as a guest you have access to)
the food in the main buffet is the usual all inclusive fair for a 4-5 star hotel, well cooked and plenty of choice. However the Alacarts are a great alternative, there are 4 included in the standard all inclusive - we ate most nights in these and can strongly recommend the Asian and oriental.
Also I recommend the royal breakfast - which is free to VIP of 4euro - it is a quieter breakfast serving in the Italian restaurant. it really starts your day off feeling special and pampered. who doesn't like smoked salmon and eggs for breakfast with fresh squeezed juice.
all the staff were friendly and helpful.
I have always traveled to a different hotel every holiday, but I can say that I will most definitely be returning to this hotel next year. This is the best hotel I have had the pleasure of being a guest in. I only wish we had booked for 2 weeks and not 1.

Room Tip: sea view rooms are great

My friends and I visited this hotel for the last 2 weeks in October and had a fantastic time!! The animation team were great (even though we didn't take part in any activities), they always made the effort to come and talk with us. James (my bro), Mando (yo, yo, yo) and Lucy were great to talk with! The hotel is massive, it was a long walk to our room as we were right on the beach in block 32, however it was worth it for the view and we had the beach bar, Asian, Oriental and Italian restaurants all very close to hand and it was nice and quiet.
Always managed to find something to eat although food could be very inconsistent, Asian and Mexican were ALWAYS nice, Italian was ok first time round and second time was unpalatable with massive overuse of salt. Occasionally things were not as described on the menu either, ie says served with chocolate sauce and it will come with strawberry?
The pools are HUGE and well maintained and the pool bar was our second home lol, Sherif was a fantastic bar man, always smiling, great drinks and likes the odd prank.
Only down side is the tiles are very slippery round the pool so be careful, lighting is also poor at night. Drinks were pretty rough, with juice that was more like flavoured sugar water and the spirits taste like white spirit with essence of tequila, whiskey etc
Nina the concierge was fantastic and couldn't do enough to help. I would definitely go back to this hotel if only to see the great staff again! They really make the hotel what it is :)

Myself and my partner have recently returned from mamlouk in Oct 2013 and have already booked to return again in march.
Hotel beautiful and the cleanliness cannot be faulted any areas. All the staff were so friendly and went out of their way to help us.
Unbeknown to us the festival of Eed was taking place while we were in Egypt so the hotel was full of Egyptions so was very busy. As British toursts we were treated to special breckfasts in another restaurant and were booked into any al carte for dinner to compensate which was wonderful.
The animation team were great and always stopped to chat even though we are not the joining in type. They also gave us tips were to shop etc.
The a l carte restaurants are a must if you visit here in particular the Mexican and the Asian , food is fantastic!!!!
Also please do go on a trip with the Aqua Centre located on the beach as they really look after you. We saw and swam with a pod of dolphins at a reef, I will never forget the experience.
We shall be returning in march for our 4th visit to the Mamlouk and have been assured we will be well looked after.

The animation team (Lucie, Mando, Abbey,Ozo, Joe) were very friendl. They were always around when you wanted a chat. They didn't pressurise you into doing anything.

The hotel it self was wonderful. There was no lifts so I wouldn't recommend it to anyone who is in a wheelchair and it could have done with a little more lighting at night near the steps and hazardous areas. There was no 'towels on sunbeds at dawn' as there was plenty for everyone. Staff were very friendly.

We have just returned from a 10 day stay at Sentido Mamlouk Palace. (22nd Oct-1st Nov)
We're a party of 7 which consists of 2 families.
This was our first time in Hurghada & thanks to the reasonable price & trip advisor reviews we picked this fantastic hotel.
We were greeted on arrival with a refreshing drink & met all the management which was a nice touch. Hotel only 10 mins from the airport which was ideal. Our room was on the 3rd floor (block 15) with a great view of the pool. Block 15 is far enough away from the main hotel building that it's quiet but near enough to all the main facilities.
This is a large hotel set in substantial grounds. The beach is a 5 minute stroll from the reception area & the gardens/pools are beautifully kept.
Buffet breakfast was fine, pancakes were great but could have done with 2 guys cooking as sometimes had to queue. Great selection to suit all tastes and nationalities. Shocking to see how much some of the Russian guests put on their plates & then left it all un-eaten. At times I felt very sorry for the Egyptian staff, the way some of the Russian guests treated them was disgusting.
We ate in all the a la carte restaurants, all were lovely but the Asian & Mexican were our favourites.
Nina at reception will book all these for you if you prefer to be waited on rather than buffet.
I felt very proud to be British in this hotel as all the staff we spoke to said they loved the Brits staying the most as we're such lovely guests. Sadly at present due to the media coverage of the troubles in Ciaro only a handful of Brits are holidaying near the Red Sea.
Four of our party are qualified divers so Egypt is perfect for us, great diving in crystal clear seas, guaranteed sunshine & great prices . The dive centre is in the front of the sister hotel so perfect for us.
It's called PDL (Professional Diving Leadership) & we found it extremely professional. My husband is a dive master but my son (12 yrs old) has only recently qualified in the UK. They dived for 6 days and had an amazing time. The boat is moored on the jetty off the hotel beach & all the staff (from the cooks on the boat to the diving guides) were exceptional & couldn't have looked after my husband & son any better.
I joined them on the boat one day & did some snorkelling, nothing was too much trouble for them. They were even presented with staff polo shirts after their last dive which was a lovely gesture.
There are some shops opposite the hotel (5 minute walk) which have great designer copies. Leather handbags & converse shoes the best! The salesman are quite pushy but great fun once you get on their wave length. Whatever price they start at you can usually halve it & get a deal.
We also visited Aqua Jungle Waterpark (again 5 mins from the hotel) which was well worth it. A family of four cost about £100, (that included food & drinks). It catered for all age groups with some very large, fast slides for the big kids & adults but also a lovely toddler area for the younger ones. It was really quiet which was great as no queues.
I have to mention some individuals who work the Mamlouk Palace, firstly Ramy who cleaned our room beautifully every day. He always met us with the biggest smile & even left cakes for us. He also made some lovely towel creatures on the kids beds which made us all smile.
Also, Mohamed Elsayed who is a waiter in the beach bar & also in the Asian restaurant. He made such an effort with the children & would come to our table & perform magic tricks for them.
The animation team were great too, Joe, Ozo, Lucy, Mando, Abbey & James all looked after us so well & made our stay even more enjoyable.
I must also mention Ahmed who gave us our towels every morning with the biggest smile & Sherif in the Aqua pool bar who always had a cold beer waiting for us as we swam towards him!
We are already planning on returning in 2014 & we hope more British families choose to holiday in the Red Sea as they rely so heavily on tourism.
The staff at Mamlouk Palace are a credit to the management & couldn't do enough for us. Thankyou to you all xxxxx

Room Tip: High up rooms the best (3rd floor) but no lifts so if you have buggies, babies etc maybe ground floo...
