“Holidays 2013”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 11, 2013

Hotel was very clean and rooms were spotless with fresh towels each day, Ahmed our room cleaner was great nothing was too much trouble.
The Asian Restaurant,Italian and Mexican are a must, just remember to book them in advance or ask the Concierge to do it for you. Get a red flag when on the beach as this stops sales people nattering, Weather was amazing wear a high factor(30),

Room Tip: We stayed nearer the beach with sea view, but was a ten minute walk to restaurant each time.

hi i have just returned from a 11 night stay at this hotel which is very stunning pools lovely beach what made the holiday special was the animation team they all really even though we only got involved once they always asked if we were ok and never once hassled us to do any of the games.we liked the one that looked like mario ballatelli cant remember his name but he was lovely person also mr bean and valentino.the drinks at night were nice lots of cocktails special thanks to hosni the waiter he was so much fun and kept our drinks flowing. the food in the main restaurant was very poor we ate at the sunrise gardens next door which was much better. i would recomend booking into the al a carte restaurants as they are free and very for which you use both hotels

good holiday definatley would go back to egypt but proberly to sharm instead. cant fault the weather and hotel staff were excellent expecially our cleaner in room 21202 and hanly and hazem the bar staff :) trips with thomas cook are very good value for money and great fun. hygiene in the resturants were excellent didnt have a funny tummy once.

only downside to our stay was we decided to get the hotel shuttle bus into hurghada city for the morning only 2 more people was on it and the bus drivers egyptian mate too as we set off for the journey we took a detour to the airport for the driver to drop his mate off with his suitecases!! which i thought was quite unprofessional then as we got into hurghada city the bus driver turned off onto a side road where the bus stopped and 2 men were waiting saying come with me into my shop we were quite scared and didnt know what to do so we went into the shop were he gave us a crappy map just showing us where his shop and mcdonalds was!! we thought we was getting dropped off at the new marina we would not of got off the bus if the 2 other people wasnt on it we were so scared we sat in mcdonalds for 2 hours!! when we went back to get the bus the man made us go into his shop to buy things we didnt even want ive never been so scared and unsafe in all my life be aware they say they are connected with the hotel but the obvisuoly not as our rep warned us about getting taxis into hurghada as they would take you to there mates shops and not where you wanted to go so why would a hotel worker do that to guests??!!?!?!?

5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 5, 2013

I have just come back from 12 days at the Sendito Mamlouk and its sister hotel the Sun-Rise (its right next door). We were staying in the Mamlouk but you can use both hotel facilities which are great as it gives you more variety with 6 pools and a very nice beech with 2 different beach bars.

Firstly, my overall opinion of both hotels is that the staff provided an excellent and very friendly service; they were polite, good fun and worked very hard. The hotel is immaculately clean and the gardens are so beautiful and wonderfully kept. This hotel is good value for money.

I have so much to say about these hotels that I have broken it down on to sections:

FOOD:
Food in the main buffet restaurants was generally good and plenty of choice; we personally preferred the buffet restaurant in the Sun-Rise Hotel purely because it has lots of natural daylight with ceiling to floor windows.

The hotels have 4 speciality restaurants:

The Asian Restaurant – which is Chinese food with a slight Thai twist, great food and very nice staff– the open kitchen is great to watch the chef cooking your dinner.

The Oriental Restaurant – is Egyptian food, again very nice food and staff. The Egyptian desserts were fabulous and you must try them.

The Italian Restaurant – in our opinion was our least favourite, the starters were very poor and the main courses were just ok, although I would like to add that the freshly baked bread was to die for.

The El Paso Restaurant – which is Mexican food and was our favourite restaurant of them all, the food was outstanding and again the service was flawless.

Tip: If you want to avoid the crowds at breakfast time, go for the simple ‘lazy’ breakfast, its served from 10:30am in the El Paso Restaurant – meats, cheeses, boiled eggs, chicken sausages, breads, jams etc and some lovely Danish type pastries. It’s very peaceful and hardly anyone was ever there – it was our little secret, well may be not now I’ve just told everyone...............lol

THE ENTERTAINMENT (ANIMATION) TEAM:
There were two different entertainment companies during the day ‘Matrix’ and ‘Sendito’. Matrix work for the Sun-Rise Hotel and were far better than the Sendito guys who mainly worked in the Mamlouk Hotel but both sides joined forces for the evening shows. The daytime entertainment was good fun especially the Olympic games they played by the pool and on the beach. However, the evening entertainment was awful – sorry guys, I know you do try hard and you are all lovely people but the shows really need improving a lot!

MONEY EXCHANGE:
Both hotels have a money exchange machine; these machines are like a cash machine and change most currencies in to Egyptian Pounds but the great thing is that they does not charge any commission and gave a better rate than other places; also you don’t need to cash up large notes its takes smaller notes. So it’s dead easy to change up your money any time of day or night.

A lot of staff get given English pound coins which unfortunately they cannot use or get exchanged at the bank, so we often exchanged their coins for Egyptian money, they never wanted more than what the face value of the coins were, they were just grateful that we exchanged them in to Egyptian money – so either offer to exchange the coins for them or tip in Egyptian money.

BAR STAFF TIPS:
All the bar staff and waiters work very hard, so we decided to leave a small tip on most days (they have a general tip box that is shared between them), they never expected a tip but they were very grateful if you did - we did notice that every time we went back to that particular bar our drinks would always be ready at the bar. Again try and tip in Egyptian money if possible.

SHISA TENT:
Which is connect to the Oriental Restaurant, it has some normal tables or you can sit on the lovely scatter cushions on the floor if you want to the more authentic experience, the two young lads who serve the Shisa are so funny and like to mess around and make the whole experience great. Make sure you check out all the different bases to the Shisa’s they are just fantastic – my favourite was the red telephone box.

THOMAS COOK:
The flight out was appalling, very cramped and hardly any leg or upper body room, I could hardly even hold a magazine in front of me to read. It was a different plane for the flight home so we were pleased with that. For food on our return flight we ordered the Tees Valley Beef & Ale Pie which was tasty but very small portion and the Norfolk Chicken Tikka was just at a cost of £5.50 each, I would suggest that you eat at the airport before boarding.

Thomas Cook rep – a very nice guy but for our welcome meeting he was 20 minutes late (but he’s probably on Egypt time), so just hang around as the meeting is worth while.

TRANSFERS TO AND FROM THE HOTEL:
Thomas Cook offer as an extra a return hotel/airport transfer which they charge £40 for 2 people. I found a company to TA who charges £26 return per car and I would highly recommend them. They also sorted out our Visas at the airport which was great; they charge £13 each person for the Visa whereas Thomas Cook charge £15 per person, so your saving even more money. There contact details are below:

Mohamed Heragy
reservation@hurghadatransfer.com

Mohamed was very helpful and professional; from stepping off plane, we were at our hotel and in our room within 48 minutes (the hotel is only 10K from the airport). However, I would recommend that if you have booked the TC transfer and then decided to book a private transfer independantly, have the decency to tell the TC rep when you arrive at the airport so that they are not waiting around for you.

WATER EXCUSIONS:
Blue Wave tours on the beach were brilliant we did a wonderful day trip – they were just great.

BEAUTY SALON:
I had a pedicure which cost £19 (make sure you barter the price down, they originally wanted £25) it was nice but not even worth the knocked down price, he cut my nails too short and did not file them evenly, also it was very painful when cutting my cuticles.

OTEHR POINTS:
The hotel is predominantly Russian, some were dam right rude and others were polite but don’t let their bad manners put you off from going to this lovely hotel, just ignore them or do what I did and try and teach them to have some manners..................lol

Also the hotel is under the flight path (but apparently most hotels are) so there are planes constantly flying over and sometime can be noisy.

I hope the above has been helpful.

Room Tip: Try the lazy breakfast in the El Paso Restaurant.

On arrival everything was done for you the staff worked hard and did anything for you from arriving to leaving. The hotel is amazing its huge! When we arrived we went to our room (which had been kindly upgraded to sea view for my partners birthday which was brill) it had a more like queen size bed and was immaculate, can't fault it. We went to the main restaurant n it was over run with rude no manners for anyone Russians. BEWARE its full of them! I'd say 90% Russian. They act like animals. But we wasn't prepared to let it ruin our time. The all inclusive is brilliant the drinks are local beer, spirits etc also Pepsi etc. If you want to book a trip book with blue wave for the boat trips they are amazing we did 2 in just a week! You get the best deals through them, they will most likely come find you anyway as loads of salesmen. Also go see john in the supermarket next to reception to smoke some flavoured tobacco he is quality and gives good deals :) we wanna thank all the workers at mamlouk palace for their hard work and for a luxury time! Iam sure we will be back very soon with a ignore the Russians attitude as they can ruin it if you let them bother you. Amazing place get yourselves there now experience it yourselves :)

Room Tip: Block 22 high floor amazing view!
