“I would rate 5* if it wasn't for the Russians!”

On arrival everything was done for you the staff worked hard and did anything for you from arriving to leaving. The hotel is amazing its huge! When we arrived we went to our room (which had been kindly upgraded to sea view for my partners birthday which was brill) it had a more like queen size bed and was immaculate, can't fault it. We went to the main restaurant n it was over run with rude no manners for anyone Russians. BEWARE its full of them! I'd say 90% Russian. They act like animals. But we wasn't prepared to let it ruin our time. The all inclusive is brilliant the drinks are local beer, spirits etc also Pepsi etc. If you want to book a trip book with blue wave for the boat trips they are amazing we did 2 in just a week! You get the best deals through them, they will most likely come find you anyway as loads of salesmen. Also go see john in the supermarket next to reception to smoke some flavoured tobacco he is quality and gives good deals :) we wanna thank all the workers at mamlouk palace for their hard work and for a luxury time! Iam sure we will be back very soon with a ignore the Russians attitude as they can ruin it if you let them bother you. Amazing place get yourselves there now experience it yourselves :)

Our second visit to this hotel and we cannot fault it for value for money, excellent location and facilities and made special by the kindness and effort of the staff. We travelled as a family party of 5 plus 2 good friends we made on our first visit in 2011. Only a handful of Brits in this time.
The hotel is in the process of changing from a Sunrise to Sentido but you can still use the facilities at the Sunrise Garden Beach.
Booked in quickly and got great rooms overlooking the beach. Once again the staff made it a great holiday. If you are willing to make the effort to speak and make conversation we found that the staff will make every effort in return. My only complaint on this holiday was that too many holidaymakers just barked out a request and showed too few manners to the staff for my liking. Being civil with people doesn't cost us anything and these people work hard all day every day to make our time there enjoyable.
Anyway back to the good stuff. The speciality restaurants (Asian, Mexican, Italian and Oriental) were all excellent and to take into account that the main restaurant had to cater to a wide range of nationalities I think they did a good job.
The staff at the Beach Bar/Asian restaurant come in for special praise as Mahmoud, Ahmed, Eslam, Mohammed, Mahmoud and Sayed were excellent hosts throughout our stay and really looked after us. All really kind people who deserve a big thankyou. I had a bad cold and without being asked Mahmoud went to the effort of obtaining honey and lemons to knock me up a hot toddy and asked after me every day. The whole team couldn't do enough for us and we really appreciate it.
Praise also for Tarek, Remon, Sayed and David in the Italian, Sabry, Karam, Ahmed, Gamal and Ahmed in the Mexican and Ali and the team in the Oriental. If you try the Mexican ask Karam to do his trick with balancing the cutlery on toothpicks and make sure you order a special coffee from Sabry.
The entertainment/animation team under Max put on some really good shows and are far better than the previous team. Mido does the constant spinning on the spot routine and is ably supported by Valentina, Dorina and Bedo and the team.
The kids club kept my 8 year old daughter thoroughly entertained and I would recommend them if you want a couple of hours to yourself. They do 2 x two and a half hour sessions daily and the kids can attend both if they like.
The room was kept spotless by Ahmed in block 32 and room service Ahmed looked after us throughout our stay.
A final thankyou to Olga concierge/guest services manager who always asked if we needed anything and asked for feedback re improvements to the services.
All in all a great holiday at great hotel that has great staff. Make the effort to talk it makes all the difference.
FYI I have been to other Egyptian resorts and hotels as well as extensively in Europe, the Caribbean and the far east so I have plenty to compare it with.

we stayed as a couple from 22nd to 29th march 2013 first immpressions of the hotel all good booked in at reception taken to our room luggage arrived about 5 mins later it was then that we had our first experiance with the buffet resturant we had a look around to see whats on offer then the fun begins we could not find any plates after what seemed like a very long time standing where the plates should be a waiter dropped some off we then tried to make our selections there seems to be no idea of waiting for the other person the russians just walk up to whatever they want push in front leave the serving spoon in the food they dont bother to close the lid this was the same for all off our stay breakfast cereal bowls or spoons one or the other would be missing one evening when we eventually found a seat by the time the waiter came around with the cutlery the food was almost cold so the next option was to book one of the four resturants on site i went to the touch screen next to reception you can only book 24 hours in advance from midnight failed on the first attempt all full the next day sunday i went to reception at 06.45 and made a booking then i found out later in the stay that this is probably the only way to do it as others sit in the bar until midnight then make a booking we managed to book 3 of the 4 resturants the asian was the best for us great service and food the mexican and italian were both good the next bit to complain about is the lack of sunbeds tuesday morning we walked all around both pools and could not find a empty bed i guess that more than half just had towels on i asked at one of the towel stations if there is any more beds he did not lift his head he just carried on sharpening his pencil one of the animation boys was standing behind me he suggested that i should look again we went up onto the island on the cold pool took a look around he then fetched a guy in a blue top the said recreation on the back who removed 2 towels from 2 beds and gave them to us nobody came to use these beds all day i was expecting an argument at anytime after this i just went out early and claimed 2 beds now for the good stuff the hotel is so clean the staff work so hard our room 16306 and our cleaner abdul allah was brilliant our room was perfect everyday on the thursday he did some towel art and flowers on the bed which was the best we have seen this is our fourth time in egypt all of the pool bar staff and lobby bar staff were great on monday we went on a trip snorkeling booked with blue wave really good value for money 600 egyptian pounds for both of us this was the first day since friday that we heard another english voice all things considerd a great hotel good staff shame about the rude russians they have put me off going to egypt again

i have just read the below reviews i agree about the towels etc but what do people expect for breakfast theses hotels are so cheap they are lovely hotels with lovely people working there. some who maon should try british hotels they are expensive and where in england would you get all inclusive with perfect sunshime for god sake people stop moaning im going to the sunrise garden beach on the 2nd of april and already i know how lovely it will be and as for decorating work when do people expect a hotel that does not close to do refurbs. also doesnt matter which sister hotel you stay in you csan use both you dont need any ultra anything dont know why people say such things go and enjoy the lovely weather gardens and food in egypt if not stay at butlins and pay double the price

We (two couples) have just returned from a week at this hotel which followed a Nile Cruise. Whilst on the cruise we had asked our Rep if he could arrange high floor rooms for us at the hotel. We not only had high floor rooms but had been upgraded to suites in the family block for which we are most grateful. We found the rooms to be clean and tidy with clean sheets daily and towels changed when left on the floor, and the "houseboy" couldn't do enough for us.
We noticed that several of the rooms in a block near the beach were being refurbished/redecorated and it would appear that this work is probably due to continue.
We booked this hotel as it was advertised as having a heated pool and we were not sure if the weather in March would be warm enough to have warmed an unheated pool sufficiently to venture in to it. The heated pool was large and most of the activities took place around it but you would need to be up and out early to get a space! In the end the very large unheated pool was perfectly ok temperaturewise and a lot quieter, it also had a swim up pool bar open from 10 til 5.
The beach was one of the best hotel beaches that we have been on as there was no coral so we were able to walk straight into the sea and swim. Both pool area and beach had the added benefit of being able to display a red flag if you did not want to be disturbed by the sellers of trips,
massages etc.
We were very grateful for the speciality restaurants at this hotel and it's sister, the Garden Beach just next door. Our favourites were the Mexican and the Asian (Chinese) but the Oriental and Italian at the Garden Beach were also good and allowed us to miss the scrum at the main restaurant for 4 nights. By the time we left the hotel was pretty near full and the main restaurant was struggling to cope with the numbers at peak time. It was also very noisy and in need of a facelift
We ordered packed lunches for our long return journey across the desert back to Luxor and were presented with a bag each. We kept the waters and fruit juice cartons and returned the food as it consisted of dry half fillerd rolls and very bruised apples.
We did the City Tour with glass bottom boat trip and found it not to be good value for money.
If it is your first trip to the Red Sea we would reccommend snorkling trips but don't consider the long haul coach trips to Cairo and Luxor as most of your day will be on a coach.
Overall a good hotel with a lot going for it. We would book again.

I don't like to think any of my reviews put anyone off as i often think you have to go yourself as what is not others tastes it may be mine.
However after reading Irina's review below me then we are of the same mind, we travelled 12/3 /2013 back 19/03/2013. W e also stayed in block 19, room 19306 on the surface everything looked ok in the room, but having said that, the pillowcases seemed dirty and on closer inspection the pillows had no protectors on and there was in fact yellow sweat marks on the pillows from prob tons of other guests before us and did in fact make me feel sick. In the bathroom there was no hand towels and had to ask Mahmoud the next day. When getting showered we found the towels wet or damp to the touch, reason being they actually hang them on the railings to dry outside of your room and then fold and put back, i honestly hope to god we got OURS back and not the next rooms. Reason i know this is because i went back to the room and found all the towels on the railings which i think is pretty disgusting and i do not think our bed got changed during our stay i know the pillow cases didn't because i knew the marks on them. Anyway it didn't stop us from having a good time , met some great peeps from our area, the food was good, service in the bars was excellent, in the buffet restaurant they didn't give you chance to finish before whipping your plates away and also you don't get to know the staff in the buffet as they get told off for speaking to you, which to me is part and parcel of the Egypt experience, hamada the supervisor kept telling one lad off for speaking to us and explained he had to work and clear the tables. Reda the chef was lovely, took time to talk and explain about the food he cooks. Entertainment was ok nothing special. We visited Asian, Italian and oriental restaraunts again nothing spectacular. Olga was very helpful in getting us places as you have to book pretty early. We found off one couple that between the mamlouk and the sunrise gardens that between the 2 hotels it was 83% Russian and 17% other nationalities, we are in the minority here although they didn't bother us but came across some very rude and ill mannered ones which is the norm for them. To cut a long story short, this hotel is ok for a weeks getaway for the sun but i would not stay here again, i would go back to the hotel we normally visit but it came up too expensive for the week, oh i will point out that in the snack bar by the swimming pool they had men working on there till 3 am gone.. i rang reception at one point and asked how long it was going to go on for and they was not helpful at all, app they were replacing or repairing the tiles by the pool and snack bar but was using an angle grinder and hammering, let you make your mind up on that! obs had no feelings for the guests who were trying to sleep. So i hope i have not put you off, what is my review may not be yours and people need to go and experiences it themselves but a word of advice, take a walk to sunrise crystal bay next door, looks fab and would stay there, its a notch up on the mamlouk and garden hotels.

We booked this hotel with Thomas Cook from 22/02/2013 to 05/03/2013 for 17 people.At the time of booking we did mention we'd prefer to stay all together,but on arrival we were separated: 8 of my friend were given rooms in the house 19, and the rest in the house 21. It wasn't far distance, it just we were not together! At reception they apologized, but also said they cant do much about this, as it is to many of us. Later we had same problem booking all restaurants, so much advertised by our holiday rep.
The room: N19303. Terrible! I am to fussy about cleanliness of towels and bed linen!On arrival I did check everything. Bed linen was not changed from previous stay!!! Hair,dirty patches,stains were found. I went to reception to complain and was told by lovely Omar(honestly very good and helpful person!) that bed will be changed.It was changed and it wasn't,room attendant changed only sheets.So I threw everything on the floor and went again to talk to Omar. Eventually bed were done. Later during our stay we had more problems with this room attendant(e.g. missing towels,bath mat,used towels not replaced, but put back as fresh, not swept floor, no tea,coffee).Some of my friend who were staying in house N19, had same problems.
Breakfast: On my opinion very poor choice. Eggs,more eggs, omelet and some cheese,sausages and bread.My husband has egg allergy,so he had to skip breakfast,as eating bread for 14 day is to hard.
Unlike breakfast,lunch and dinner were really good. Lots of choices,nice food,good service.
I red in one of previous reviews about Russians who "snatching the food like they never saw it before". NOT TRUE! Yes to many Russians,but they do not behave as animals. If there was food shortage, that's only because the kitchen staff did not replaced empty hot containers quick enough.
We had extra all inclusive service. It means we could use sister hotel Sendito Garden Palace as well, plus alcoholic drinks almost 24/7 and we could book restaurants every day, if we wanted.
Restaurants: We did book all of them once, except Italian( as I mentioned before-to many of us,so they did not have enough space for 17 people). I did not like any of them! Good service,but awful food.Nothing like Mexican or Chinese( Asian restaurant). Not even Italian,as only me and my husband went there.
Bear in mind in the hotel you can drink only local alcohol. This was the worst alcohol I ever tried, so I had only beer.
This were main things I wanted to high lite about our stay, and that's why I am giving "average" rate. Overall our stay was ok. We did like the boat trip,scuba diving, snorkeling, or just relaxing by the swimming pools.
One more!!!
If you book your holiday with Thomas Cook, You will be offered to go by boat to "Mahmya" island, as it is very beautiful and exclusive only for Thomas Cook for £70per person(if I remember it right).We were told no one goes there.
Not true!!!! Every body go there!
This island has 3 names: Mahmya, Giftun and Paradise. We booked our trip with hotel person for $30(us dollars)each! Fantastic day,fantastic trip!
Our trip to Cairo we booked with Thomas Cook rep Mohammed. Bloody liar! Again, as we were 17,but only 13 did go, we were offered a private bus for $150pp and 4,5 hours trip to Cairo. The trip took us 7 hours!And the way they drive! Our driver was introduced to us as Schumacher. Half trip on the phone, over taking when there is oncoming cars and lorries, overtaking on the blind corner, everything you do not expect from travel company approved by Thomas Cook as they trusted contractor. They do not take any responsibility for peoples lives.I must say we are lucky to stay alive after this driving manner.
My first advise if you thinking of going to Cairo- DO NOT GO THERE!
If you go be ready:( I am talking about one day trip)
You will spend most of your time on the bus, sitting hours in traffic and only 45min in the Egyptian museum and 1 hour by the pyramids (if you are lucky 1hour 20min) and again bus,traffic. Very dirty city, streets full of rubbish, animals poo, beggars.
Trip makers will take to the papyrus factory, to show and sell you unique papyrus for enormous price, same you can get from 1 to 25 us dollars in any shop in Hurghada.
MOST IMPORTANT! If you go to Cairo take some tissues or toilet rolls! Every toilet we stopped is not free of charge and there is no loo rolls, or soap! In museums rest rooms(only one free of charge we been to) they asking $5 to give you some tissues.Disgusting!
Be aware of thieves and pickpockets around pyramids.Do not talk to people if they try sell you some rubbish, especially do not accept any "free gifts" or "free service" or "my hospitality to you", as its not free, you will pay a lot later.
Finally I must say, Never again to Egypt! If I ever go to Egypt again, only holiday resort and diving,no any trips!
