when we arrived at this hotel the front foyer and reception looked tired and dated everthing looked dim and needed a coat of paint, we checked in and was escorted to our room nothing special but ok over all. our cleaner IBRAHIM interduced himself and made sure everthing in our room was perfect for our stay. our disapointment started from the first lunch in the main buffet resturantfood was plentyful but not great and we noticed the hyigene from the staff was poor, we complained to a rep and was offered a meal at the asian restaurant which we cancelled and eat at a place across the way. we tried a dinner the following night and again things were poor at this point i made a complaint to the main food manager who from that point completely changed our vacation we were given an invite to the oriental restaurant and this was fantastic thanks to MR AMIM AT THE GAMILLA and things changed we found large baskets of fruit in our room plus bottles of wine and everywhere we went we were served like royalty thanks to MR MOMAMED FAWZY and head chef MR EMAD SALAH who on the last night presented us with a meal as good if not better than any meal we have had including some 5* hotel restuarants in london we hope to meet both these guys again soon and class them both as good friends.

Having been to Mamlouk in March I wanted to see whether it was as good as we remembered,having stayed at other hotels in May (sunrise holidays) and Sept ( Ali baba) .We actually stayed in the garden beach resort next door this time but ended up spending most of our time in Mamlouk as the staff there are so good.
The bar staff are professional and caring about their customers
Particularly Ahmed Farouk Mena Mon and Mohammed .
The cocktails re the best I have tasted inHurghada this year at all the different hotels with just the right balance of alcohol ,as the local spirits can be a bit strong.

We ate in the Mexican and Italian finding the food and service to be good.

Please barter with the taxi drivers before you get in agree a price as we never paid more than £2.50 or 25 Egyptian pounds LE for a cab into Hurghada

Also cheap flights on easyjet or Thomas cook mean you can search online for last minute deals at this hotel and get very good value for money.
Nov is out of season and hot during the day
With a cardigan on the bar terrace at night, just like our English summer really
Amazing sunsets at 5pm
And endless fox movies in the rooms
Saw mamma Mia whilst getting dressed for the evening

Mamlouk is still my favourite hotel

We went for a week's stay in the Middle of November just to get away from the awful British weather and enjoy some sun. Flight with Thomas Cook was as per normal, we booked extra leg room ad I am 6ft 4. We were second drop off from the airport, were asked to sit down and would be seen to for check in. We were given a drink then had to wait 20 minutes until the travel rep noticed us sitting and sorted out our check in. This is after everyone else had been checked in.

Room:
We were given a family room which was huge, a bedroom with twin beds and a very large main bedroom with a huge king size bed and a great view of the pool and hotel, room was kept clean all week however little items such as a cloth, shampoo, water etc which were there when you checked in were not replaced. Water was sometimes but not everyday! Our cleaner was very happy to ask that everything was okay with our room and made some nice shapes out of our towels.

Hotel Area:
One massive pool which looked amazing and a smaller heated pool which everyone seem to spend their time around. The hotel was kept very clean and tidy at all times and there was always somewhere to sunbath. However I am a big sun fan and there seemed to be more canopies with shade then places to sit in the sun.

Food:
Spent the first two nights in the main buffet which was not very nice, hard to find something to eat in the evening and there was a lot of rude people who push in front of you, make you move off their table (which had a plate with two bread buns on). The food seemed quite repetitive, breakfast was the same, but there was omelletes, fried eggs an cereal which was fine for breakfast. The rest of the week we went to the A La Carte restaurants below is our review of each one:

Oriental:
Supplied one drink then not asked again, had main meal and sat for 15 mins with plates on table and decided to leave as we were walking out got asked if we wanted dessert. Food was acceptable.

Italian:
Service still poor had to ask someone for a second drink, but the food was better and they did take plates away and we had a dessert.

Mexican:
Brilliant we had a very nice waiter who tried to show us a magic trick, plenty of food supplied and drinks a plenty.

Asian:
Brilliant again the sweet and sour chicken is to die for and the drinks kept on flowing.

If you are with Thomas cook you are able to visit these as many times as you want, however please read below how I think this will change.

Entertainment:
The usual animation team they try their best and some people seemed to enjoy it but not really for us. The late night disco played varied music but poor house type mixes of well known songs as most people were not allowed to drink after midnight it did not get busy.

Our own opinion
We met some lovely people there, Greg and Lucy we met on the first night, Ang, Mark, Nicola and Nanna Pat also Sedgerick and Paula (excuse spelling) they all really made the holiday for us as we had plenty of drinks and laughs. Kevin in the animation team was a good laugh and spent many times getting to know us by the pool and in the evening. However some points when we were suppose to be 24 hour drink we had problems getting served, the hotel gave you a sheet about the hotel saying drinks were only till midnight which seemed true for most of the guests and even the rep in the welcome meeting told us this. Be careful when booking this as I think this will change to midnight from everyone as it is changing names from Sunrise to Sentindo.

However we did not let this bother our holiday, the people we met made the holiday and we hope to meet with them again soon. But we probably would not go back to this hotel unless it was a cheap easy week away we wanted. This is just our opinion as we have stayed in better quality hotels, if you would like just a chilled out week in the sun with no expectations then choose this hotel.

TIp: Go the nearby Jungle Aqua Water park was a great day, don't go on the disco tour with the Animation its a poor night for quite a bit of money. We had to make the rep take us to a better club.

We were looking for a short break and decided Egypt would be a good choice in Nov Dec as we had been there many times before. We had a rule that we do not return to the same Hotel as previously as it would not come up to our enjoyment of the first visit. We noticed a great deal on the Mamlouk Palace, which we visited 4 years ago a decided to risk it and it was as good as we remembered.
This assessment includes the use of the Hotel next door Sunrise Beach as it was part of the package.
The pool areas, 4 of them, are excellent some heated, spotless and well maintained, water slides. and shaded areas. Perfect.
The beach has beds and parasols and you can walk into the sea without shoes, even in December the water was not too cold. Beach towels are supplied and can be changed daily.
The rooms are a good size with hairdryer, tea making, good free aircon TV, and free safe. The trend seems to be to charge for the safe and aircon it’s free here! Cleaner was excellent and towels and sheets were changed regularly.
The areas surrounding pools and outside bars are kept very clean.
Eating. There are numerous areas to eat as follows.+
Breakfast. Main dining areas in both hotels.
Lunch. Main dining areas two pool bars two beach bars Close at five, six in summer.
Dinner Main dining areas, and four restaurants that must be pre booked.
In the main dining areas the food is acceptable but not great. Beach and pool bars offer burgers pizza salad snacks etc., which was good. The Mexican and Italian food and service very good, Asian good and Oriental not so good.
Some customers found diner in the main restaurant was not acceptable and had salad or went out. The Sentido Crystal is next door and the meals in their specialty restaurants are excellent and cost about £30.00 per couple for a three course meal.
The service in the bars is exceptional, nothing is too much trouble. Thank you Mo and you staff for making our holiday special.
Shopping, A shuttle bus runs to Hurghada town for £ 3.00 per head. The town is dusty and there is a lot of pestering, The marina has bars and restaurants, by Taxi £12.00 return. Make sure you get to the marina drivers will try to drop you in the town at their mates shop. Also there is the Sinbad village area which is a lot newer and cleaner but when we went there were very few tourist there and the shops were deserted. Across the road from the hotel there is a row of shops and the prices are similar to Hurgarda town. The Cleopatra Bazar is fixed price sells “loads of stuff” and no haggling
Overall we found this to be a great hotel but if food is you pleasure then maybe it is not for you. The weather was in the 20ties and full sunshine. The price for two weeks was less than £1,100.00 at that price if we wished we could treat ourselves to a meal out.
