“the hotel resort itself......not the best....”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 11, 2011

Hmm...we booked this place for our honeymoon at the beginning of september, Egypt is very, very hot....i underestimated the power of the sun on the first day there...lying on the beach with no sun protection was foolish as the regular wind that blows onto this resort turned me into a piece of bacon by the evening!!! i was in agony for 3 days... so WARNING MAKE SURE YOU HAVE A HIGH FACTOR SUN CREAM AND DARK LENSED SUNGLASSES.. The hotel location is idealic apart from the fact that the sewage treatment is next door out of sight from most of the hotel you would have to look for it to find it, but with this it attracts flies...and these are a big problem at this hotel during the day...they are everywhere....in the reception, and the restaurant where you eat....this is really bad as the food is always laid out....free for the flies to do as they please...and it does become very off putting and annoying. if you are english and hoping to be around your fellow comrades think again....of the 100+ rooms there were only 7... yes 7 english couples there during our 10 day honeymoon, and yes we all got to know who each other were....this hotel is rammed with......russians, i have nothing against any race, colour or creed....but these people in fact most of them are rude, obnoxious, and selfish...there were a couple that i got on with but on the whole...nooo way hosayyy, they look at you like your not worth a thing, but we did not let this ruin our time together, us english we stuck together, the rooms are perfect, cleaned every day and bedding changed everyday...with great things made by the house keeping guys from your towels. these guys are worth tipping before you leave as they are worth their weight in gold, air conditioning is on all night but can be hard to sleep through so turn it down slightly, its a god send. the hotel staff, and waiters are the best i have experienced...they cannot do enough for you they will bend over backwards to accomodate you and look after you, nothing is to much trouble...very respectful especially mohammed zizu!!! and hassan mohammed!!! they love english football, and the later has not got a clue about english but always laughs and agrees at whatever you say to him..!! brilliant!!! the weather is perfect no clouds...just pure sun for the whole stay with the temperature in the 100's easily...and at night time it is very warm too...like a hair dryer at times!! no winter clothes needed at anytime in egypt during september. The beach bar is ok.....the beach consists of sharp coral shingle!! make sure you have good footwear for beach....lots of fish in the sea....snorkling trip at £15.00 per person on a boat for the whole day is the best value trip you will find....do this through your holiday rep at hotel..the music on the beach is to loud, day and night.....and it is repetitive, yet the animation staff are really nice guys who are a bit "out there!!!" eslam, shaady....you know what i mean guys lol. and the other downfall is if you are old and walking is a problem this hotel is not for you as it is built on a hill, a long ramp to and from the beach at 45 stairs down to restaurant and back up!!! so not for the unfit or hard of walking, to be fair all in all we had a great time in hurghada and would deffo go bac to this place but unfortunately not this hotel... One other thing always change your money in hurghada you will get a much, much, better exchange room.....all inclusive is a waste of money i think, the local spirits are awful where as a good bottle of smirnoff was deeply missed. :(

Room Tip: sea view...is a must, groundfloor not good as insects and massive ants!!!

I've spent there 2 magnificent weeks of my vacation, and I totally don't feel sorry about it! Room was clean, staff's friendly (except beach boy, who called himself "Sambo" - he is sucker and didn't do anything). Meal - I don't know your personal preferences (some people didn't like food), but I've had everything i needed - different kinds of meat, fresh fish, salads, fruits, vegetables and, of course, sweet pies, cakes..mmm... Egyptians adore sweets, so they cook them perfectly! Very nice beach - the only one irritating thing there - yahts, they've been leaving little oil spills which was quite hard to clean from skin... and plus if you take a tour (for example to Luxor) hotel's staff gives not very good food - just bread, little box of juice... so take your own food, but better take more water if you're going to desert and (girls) don't do make up, it's usless there! Yeah, hotel is quiet, good, without animation (just belly dance once in 3 days), to say short - it's for those, who are tired from crowded places and want to have nice, calm rest. Enjoy!

Hi, we just got back ( my husband and i) from a wonderful trip in Hurghada, Egypt. We stayed at Sahara Resort Hotel and i can say that we had a pleasant suprise regarding this hotel. Everything is clean, the room is preety. What i really liked is that every day our room was cleaned. The food was plenty and it was excellent. We had no restriction concernig the local drinks (we've talked with friends from other hotels who complained about this). The staff was very friendly and helpful. It is true that we had many russian people around us but they didn't bother us. I definetly reccomend this hotel. My kids will go next year to the same hotel. I promise to upload some photos in the next days.

We stayed here for 2 nights , just for some R & R during our trip throughout Egypt .
R & R is what you get , because there is nothing surrounding this hotel .
The place was filled with Eastern Europeans , and while i have nothing against any race , these people are just blatantly rude and crude with no concern for anyone else staying here !
We got in late afternoon ,where shown the room and the balcony ... after walking onto the balcony , i was hit with this huge stench ...OMG what is that ? i was almost heaving ... i looked around the fence of our balcony to find a sewerage treatment work RIGHT next to my room ...it was disgusting , we walked back into our room , shut the door and left it shut . The sewerage works are part of the hotel next door and while they have it miles away from their own rooms , its way too close for comfort to the sahara hotel ...if i was the management , i would be complaining to the hotel that owns it !
Since where tired from a terrible bus trip , we decided to order in for the night . we looked up the menu , rang the restaurant , ordered a pizza ( which was on the menu ) we had to say the name of the pizza 6 times & 2 orange juices .... after waiting for 75 minutes , hubby rang the restaurant back & was hung up on ....so he went to the front desk to sort it out ....while the front desk staff where very helpful in us getting what we wanted , the kitchen staff also hung up on him 3 times , saying there was no pizza of that name on the menu, hubby came back to the room , got the menu , took it to front desk , showed them , so they rang back again , getting abused once again ...in the end hubby just ordered something else !
This was quite infuriating to say the least , instead of coming and seeing us and bringing our juices and asking us what we wanted , he just ignored us cause he didn't know what we said ! ignorance is not good hospitality no matter what the reason !
Next morning we got breakfast times mixed up and got there pretty late so there wasnt much left and no orders being taken ..our fault , but so strict to the rules they are .
Later on we decided to lounge by the pool all day , the waiter was hard to find most of the day and although there was sun on the pool all day , the water was like ice ! it was freezing ! so no swimming for us today .
we decided to go down to the beach to have a look , we sat at the bar , ordered a drink and had a great chat with the barman down there , i would have to say this barman was the friendliest staff member of all of them , he was so helpful !
We ordered some lunch through him and again it was taking forever to reach us , only to wait 30 minutes and be told , sorry , no meat left , you want chicken ? ...well i guess so if thats all you have !!!! so another 30 minute wait and a very worried barman chasing it up for us , we finally had a beautiful lunch and sat talking to that barman till closing ...
then we decided to have a massage at the spa ...not the nicest , cleanest looking place and another wait , not enough people on to do us ..... ok we can wait 15 minutes after the lady rang someone up and told them to " GET DOWN HERE " finally someone came down , only to be told only 1 of us could get done , while me and hubby where arguing , you go , no you go , no you go , they realized they where going to loose both of us and wallah ...all of a sudden they had enough people ..OMG !
i think my 5 year granddaughter could have given me a better massage , there was no strength in it , no muscle massage , it was just a light oily rub !
ok back to our room for a shower to get ready for dinner , we walk to the restaurant and they make everyone stand outside till the last minute , no way where they opening 1 minute early ! we walked in got a table , the lines where huge , so i sat at our table while hubby went up ...Oh My God .....everyone turned into scavenging vultures running to each place to get their mile high salad plate , and another hot food plate , then over to the deserts , 1 table i walked past could not move through the amount of full dishes they had laden on their table ...it was disgusting to see people carry on like this just because it was all inclusive .........meanwhile , the people who didn't get in their first had no plates to get a meal on , because all these vultures where using them all !!
I can't blame hotel management for other peoples actions , but perhaps they should have order of 1 plate at a time , and there would be no-one to blame for this except the greedy people pigging out , piling food on 3 or 4 plates , only to leave 1/2 of it behind when the go ! ...disgusting behavior by customers and behavior i hope others will think twice about after reading this !
there are other people staying in the hotel who would like a little of something to eat besides yourselves !
Now , for the room , we asked for a queen bed and like every other hotel in Egypt we were given 2 singles ... i couldn't be bothered arguing the fact when we arrived , i was way too tired for that.
the room was roomy , comfortable and very Mediterranean , the whole hotel was actually, it was lovely and the view from the room was fantastic ...if you could go out onto the balcony that is !
WHAT WHERE THEY THINKING WITH THE TOILETS ? ( SEE PHOTO )
OMG talk about a designers mishap from hell ..we had to sit sideways on the toilet to use it , the shower screen was literally 15cm from the toilet seat ...didn't they realize that when they were putting the thing in that maybe they should turn it around ?
i am astounded at the stupidity of this .
Even the shower was made for midgets .

All in all , the concept and view ...perfect !

reality , location ( next to sewerage works ) practicality and design of this hotel ....disgusting !

AND NO , I would not stay here again !

We stayed in this hotel in the end of January and the beginning of February, 2010. Actually we liked this hotel a lot.
Staff is very friendly, helpful and communicative. They always meet you with smile, always ask you about your spent day, always helps. So staff here is really perfect.
About food it is not the best place, because of less differ of fruits and dishes. But when we talked with people from other hotel, the same problem was is several hotels, so maybe it is because of season (winter).
Rooms are very clean.
Beach is clean, towels for free with special card which you will get in reception.
Place is quiet, so you can feel full relaxation. Also you can go to massage center which is in hotel's territory.
Next to hotel you can find disco- not so much people, but on Sundays free tequila night for ladies. So if you will go with good company you will have a lot of fun.
Actually we are very happy because we stayed in this hotel, so I really recommend this hotel.
