We stayed at the Grand Plaza Hotel once for one night at the start of our holiday and again for 5 nights after a visit to Luxor. We found the hotel to be mostly catering for Russians but this was not a major issue. There were a few English staying and also a fair few Egyptians.
We travel independently so carried out the booking and check in routines ourselves.
Check in on both occasions was quick and no major problems. The majority of this review is based on our 5 night all inclusive stay.
ROOM, we were allocated a room with a pool and sea view, small balcony with chairs and table. Large king size bed, fridge, TV etc. And as a bonus a sofa. Shower room was large and clean. Main problem was that the shower had hot water the wash basin was tepid, but after a call to guest services this was rectified. The room staff were efficient and maintained the room well during our stay, complete with the usual examples of towel folding.
Problems with TV were again rectified swiftly. My only comment was that the room lacked plug sockets for charging phones, tablets and cameras and the ones that were there were on the circuit that switched off when the room card operated electrics was nit in use.
Food etc.. Yes there is a buffet system for all main meals, but generally a good choice all be it a tad on the samey side and a bit bland. There is an omelette station at breakfast and a pasta station for lunch and dinner. Good choice of soft drinks, wine and beer. Lovely choice of breads, cakes and pastries. For England she tastes I would have liked to see the cheese and cooked meets from breakfast available at lunch, they would go well with the salads!
STAFF were polite, helpful and good at their respective jobs. Particular mention to El Hathay in the restaurant together with Eslam, Medhat and Ahmed. All deserve special mention. The outside staff again always ready to make you feel at ease, thank you Nabil.
ENTERTAINMENTS we did not participate in the animations, we are around the 70 age mark, but they were about if you wanted to participate. There were 2 pools, beach and reef for snorkeling. The sunbeds were OK and the towel system worked well.
For the money we paid I felt the hotel was good value for money and are looking to return.
