“Worst experience ever”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed November 5, 2010

In Europe, this would be a normal 2-star hotel. It is far from 3-star and 4-star is only a far-away dream. If you can get it for a very very small rate then take it. If not, stay away because it will ruin your vacation.
First of all it is very important to tip the receptionist. Give him 30-50 pounds and ask for a good room with balcony in one of the buildings close to the beach. If you don't do that, you will end up in a gloomy room in the main building with a "wonderful" view over the landfill next door. The main street is there too, so you should not expect to sleep during the night.
The hotel is clean, but everything is old and the bad smell is everywhere. The bath tub was rusty and the door lock broken.
The food is terrible. There is no diversity and no variation. You have to eat the same food everyday and they mainly offer Egiptian food. The service is incredible low. If you pay for all inclusive, you will have the chance to choose between two soft drinks. You can choose any of them because they are 99% water and 1% artificial flavor.
In the evening, after the dinner, there is nothing happening in the hotel. You have too options: you can either go to sleep hoping that everything is a bad dream or go out in the main street where the street vendors will harass you to buy very low quality goods they call "souvenirs".
The water is wonderful, but the hotel's private beach is quite narrow and you cannot enter the water without water shoes because of the stones.

All things considered, it's an average to good hotel.
Up side:
The food was satisfactory, lacked in diversety but still plentiful. Every dinner has a different theme and food to go with it. Swimming pools were clean enough and towels fresh looking. Room maintenance is on the poor side, but if you leave some change from your pocket for the cleaners on the table every morning, they will do an extra job. :)
Down side:
Small sandy beach, with sharpish gravel-like floor on the water-line. I was constantly annoyed with questions about massage, snorkel-trips, hena tattos, etc. Communication skills of hotel staff are minimal, but that's the norm in Egypt. Let's see, what else.... Oh yes, there will be at least on drunk russian on the beach - before lunch. Noisy people, avoid if you seek a quiet time-off.

Room large food nice nice walk through grounds to beach everyone helpful especially Bahaa serving at the pool bar. Central to shops and bars .beware of street sellers selling tabs for 50 ep they take your money and then tell you you only gave them 50 plastres.Nice little bar straight over the road. drinks cheap food good. had a brilliant time and am already planning for next year. Travelled with Travel Republic no problems. Take a trip to the aquarium which is only about 10 min by taxi.

The main plus of this hotel, it is located in the city. Near several discos, shops, Marina. This is probably the only plus of this hotel.

I went to Minamark with my family of 10 for 2 weeks in June and we were expecting the worst due to all of the reviews we had seen however, it was an excellent stay, the hotel is situated right in the centre of the town which was brilliant if you needed anything or wanted to do a bit of shopping during the evening. The staff in the hotel were so friendly especially Mostafa who works in the Coral Sea restaurant! The food was a little repetitive but wasn't too bad! The rooms were of a very good size and were kept clean throughout our stay. The beach is very nice with exceptionally clear water (great for snorkelling) and you get free towels everyday which was great! The pool was clean however it is a little small but wasn't too bad as most people hang around the beach. The animation team were great, very friendly and were always up for a laugh! I would definitely recommend this hotel, we had a great holiday there and would love to go back.

I think they have to make some changes. Cause Ive been in other hotels in Hurghada then I can say that Minamark wasnt very good choice. Room was OK and it was quite clean(cleaner jump in early in morning, what wasnt very good), that part was ok. But... Restaurant, variety was poor, food didint taste good - only rice, pasta and liver (loads of people dont eat that kind of stuff). Stuff in restaurant have to learn that u have to act polite if u want that people are coming back. And what´s going on with those classes? We are human not dolls, classes were so small that we run after every 3 minutes to get drink again. And kitchen is place what have to be CLEAN!

Beach is really small, but pool area was OK. Animation team didint do anything - I saw two guys who jumped there sometimes, but no shows or smt really exciting.

I liked massage, they know what they doing and people from shops were really nice and friendly - best wishes to Oskar!

Oo my good, I remember now ... I saw healt center... That was joke! It was like trip to back in 1980 - honestly...

If they choose new chief cook and teach stuff how to act with clients then maybe its gonna be very good hotel one day, cause location is very good, rooms are nice, but yeah like I said, lots of changes to make ...
