“Would return”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 18, 2013

Staff excellent. Food excellent. Junior suite was lovely, however bath was worn and well passed it sell by! Water pressure and mixure tap the same. An engineer did call to fix it, but there was no change; we were only there for a week, so didn't bother to room move; although I believe that we could've done, if we wanted to.
We enjoyed a variety of dining, Lebanese, Carribean, Chinese; all of which were absolutely delicious.
Drinks weren't bad either, excellent white wine!
Entertainment in the evening was a singer, who was excellent, singing many English songs, from the 60s right through to current day.
There is a long pier which offers excellent swimming and snorkling, steps lead into the water and in just a few feet you can be in really deep water with many, many colourful fish.
We really enjoyed our holiday and would return.

“Enough Nice place to relax”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 15, 2013

Makadi bay is a complex of several hotels, around you have nothing, just the desert. Closest city is of course Hurghada and take about 30-45 min. Hotel organised free buses. Take care that they will bring you in area or stop in place or shops where the drivers are some interest. It is not bad, but you can feel like trapped, if you take your own route, you can discover some picturesque places.
Now the hotel. The place is nice, and very postive point is that they have heated swimming pool which very good in winter time. The building is a bit old and needs some refreshment, but globally is ok. The beach is nice and they have a very good spot for snorkeling. Some hotels around look better but price could be more expensive as Grand hotel, Spa makadi... Room are standard for Egypt, nice simply design not more, Equpement are old, teh bath was so used and worn, that you could think it is dirt Not at all, "the majolica cladding" has disappeared. I think you will spend more time outside. In February NO Animations, except fitness in the morning. Food is just good, not so much choices but enough to enjoy. Desserts are always the same kind did not enjoy so much. A lacarte restuarant are Ok we liked very much the Lebanon one. For 10Euors per day you can get an upgrade to the Grand hotel. It does not worth the try, food is almost the same than Grand Makadi. BUT WHEN weather is windy (it was very windy in fenruary), this worth the money because Grand hotel is protected from the wind ( the yard is a round shape, and you can eat outside, this is not possible in Grand makadi. All inclusive drink are poor quality as often in Egypt. Do not forget tot he small mall common with grand Hotel. Conclusion after 1-2 days acclimation we finally enjoyt the stay. We were like spoiled as our last stay was in Karibik Punta Cana in Bavaro beach Hotel ( Wonderfull)

“Best holiday ever”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 11, 2013 via mobile

Had a wonderful holiday. Hotel is a little tired but are refurbishing but rooms are spacious and lots of choice of restaurants also able to use Makadi Palace which adjoins. Staff very helpful and friendly. Excellent grounds which were full of different plants - very green. The beds by pool and on the beach comfortable. Brilliant for snorkelling but must wear rock/beach shows as you need to walk on coral but you can take the beautiful jetty which you can walk off the end into the deep water. Entertainment could have been better and wifi only available near reception. Tip the staff and you will get looked after well, you don't have to tip much and they will accept any currency but they prefer notes as easier for them to change up. Will definitely be returning and would highly recommend. Weather at end of Feb was 30C. Great holiday for chilling out and soaking up the sun.

“We'll Be Back!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 11, 2013

My sister in law and I stayed at the Grand Makadi the last week of February. We have been to Egypt many times and although we have stayed in better rooms (GM's need refurbishing) we have no hesitation in recommending this hotel. Every member of staff we came in contact with were polite, happy and helpful. We ate in the Mall 2 nights and would recommend the various restaurants there. We also ate in the italian on site on 2 occasions. The heated pool was wonderful at this time of year. Our only complaints were on arrival we sat for over 20mins waiting to be checked in and the ridiculously small plastic cups they serve 'takeaway' alcohol in.

Thank you for your review and for your very kind recommendation.
We deeply regret that our check-in procedure was not-up to standard upon your arrival and please rest assured that the volume of our disposable cups will definitely be modified.
Kindly note that a room renovation program is currently in process where over 70 % of our rooms have already been refurbished for you to enjoy during your future visits.

“Ok fo some winter sun”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 11, 2013 via mobile

So we booked this holiday last minute as we saw the weather forcast and it was lovely :). Most of the staff in this hotel were lovely but alot made us girls feel uncomfortable, espessialy the staff in the main Restrant, which is why we only ate there twice out of three meals aday for 7 days. The food wasn't great to be honest and when I go on hol I like to enjoy the food, also the drinks on all inclusive were all very sugary, made me feel sick and not everything is on all inclusive food or drink. I suppose the best one we liked was the Thai, but still not great. At lunch time there's an area in the middle by the pools that was nice to eat they did nicer salads then the other places and I asked why they don't do fresh fruit like pineapple etc and they went and cut one for us, which was lovely of them :). Also we love to swim on holiday and seeing as there beach is horrid and really stony, the sea area wasn't great either. We wanted to swim in the pools which they gave loads but apsolutey freezing :( Luckly I asked somebody dont you have heated pools and there was one at the sister hotel so we spent most of our time there. The entertainment wasn't great either :(. This hotel is ok I surprise but not for me, wont bd going bk.
