“A pleasant stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 29, 2014

over a thousand guests in the hotel but no more that 10 English guests whilst we were there in June 2014.
This hotel is predominately geared up for the Russians, but this didn't affect how we were treated. The room itself was clean and tidy but in definite need of an update (especially the bathroom)
Food was ok , we stayed for 10 days. We would encourage you to book in to the restaurants on site as they were lovely, the Mexican, Italian especially.

Bar staff were great & very friendly , shout outs for : Alaa, Androu, & Ragem ( not sure thats spelt right lol ) :) Rabi from the diving centre was great & very friendly. Ahmed from the boat trips was also a very cool guy.

We had our breakfast at he fish restaurant as it was quieter & more European visitors go there. The staff here were fantastic.

For what we paid it was worth the money & we would go again Holiday was definitely enhanced by the people we met Ronnie & Sue from Southend.

Now my moan!!!! The price for the Visa is £15 !! but as we found depending on which window you pay at this price varies, we were charged £19 & others paid up to £25 each. So make sure you tale more English money than you need

Room Tip: We had room 5032: Bathroom needed updating

there is no variation in food at all..and the food is not good..also the crew in the restaurant are tough in their manner ...most of them are not even smile .....except the Italian restraunt.... all swimming pools are 60 or 120 or 180 m deep ...with edge in between the different deep of water with no sign ...animation team are extremely bad ...they were not friendly at all....also they speak Russian only in all of their shows....disco is not that bad but not totally dark as the disco should be...also the d.j is not a good player....room service is amazing....in fact I think it is the only successful department in the hotel..the reception is a friendly crew too..

Resort itself is very big! Few bars, buffet restaurant, 3 restaurants, 3 swimming pools, lagoon, kids area, disco, amphitheater, aqua park, and a beach! Reception staff was ok (could have been better at some points), guest relation ladies were perfect to deal with! All bar staff were nice and friendly, everyone speaks russian but it becomes a little bit difficult when it comes to english. The only person who had brilliant english skills was a barman called David (I believe) ;) Food was ok, drinks were good, entertainment and animation - good! Its a good hotel i would recommend it.
P.S. very big thank you to security and housekeeping of 1000.

3 of 5 stars Reviewed June 3, 2014

We have just returned from a weeks stay at the Desert Rose. The hotel and general staff were lovely, the grounds/pools and beach were very well kept and the grounds staff maintained the grass/ flowers and trees perfectly. The resort itself was very clean.

There were lots of lights in the evening but not enough, it was very very dark and the floors are really uneven. Do not take heels!

On day one we were bombarded by "sales" people, come have a massage, diving or some sort of tour! At least 8 people on the complex all trying to squeeze a few quid out of us one way or another, we holiday on all inclusive complexes to avoid this!!

My husbands family originates from Goa and we were asked all week by staff if he was either and Arab or Egyptian, which in itself was not an issue! What was an issue was the reception staff being very rude to my husband and ignoring him on several occasions, even walking away from the desk when it was his turn to be seen and not returning AT ALL. (another member of staff implied this was because he was with a white woman!!)

The food was very basic and flies everywhere, the best place to eat was the snack bar! We had upset tummies from day 2 and have still got it 3 days after our return home. The 3 additional restaurants that you can visit, rather than the main buffet restaurant, were terrible, not only did the food have no flavour in any of them, the service was very bad, in the Italian, the staff tried to take our soup away 5 times whilst we were still eating it, I think they got cross in the end as they tried to serve our main whilst we still had half a bowl full. 4 courses in under an hour in all the restaurants. (there was not another sitting after us so we were disappointed with the rush)

The only reason we could think this was acceptable service was because the Russians that were there (90% of the clientele) were like people obsessed when it came to food. They pushed you out the way, piled so much food on their plates of every course, people walking around with Pizza, kebabs and cakes on the same plate like the food was going to run out, they scoffed like they had never eaten before and the food waste was a disgrace which the hotel needs to
address. If there was less waste the food could be better quality.

We have stayed in this area before and the hotels were full of Russian people, but we paid more money so I am guessing that they were just a better breed! We do not like to be surrounded by loud English people hence us mixing with others. We have learnt a lesson.

Evening entertainment non existent really and a bit of back ground music after 11pm would have been lovely.

There were plenty of sunbeds around the pools and the private beach was stunning.

If you want a cheap week away in the sun, this place is perfect!

Room Tip: If you get a beach room it is a long walk in the dark to the nearest bar!

Dear Guests!

Thank you for your feedback and that you have taken the time to describe your impressions.
Our whole team is extremely committed to deliver the perfect vacation experience for each guest.
The Hotel Management pay great attention on all our guests and we keep your comments, requests and complains in the high priority. All the hotel team is working to ensure the most comfortable stay for all the guests and to prevent any negative impressions about the hotel and its services. From our side we would like to mention that all the hotel team is cooperating together and each employee regardless of his position is treated with respect.
Concerning the point about the sales on the beach which offer for the guests different services we would like to mention that in order to avoid the annoying of the sales to the guests in our hotel the system of “green flag” is applied and it’s successfully working for the comfortable stay of all the guests.
Also we would like to inform you that our guests in April and May are typically 60% Citizens from Russian and Ukraine, 25 % International guests, 15 % EU-Citizens. We take your suggestions as an opportunity to ask our guests to be more considerate of other guests.
If we have not met your expectations in this respect, we sincerely apologize. Hope to see you again in your “second home”.
Best regards

Last summer I spend 11 wonderful days in hotel Desert Rose, in Hurghada.
It is nearly to international airport in Hurghada.
This 5 stars hotel is in the heard of the old city.
There are many restaurants, bars, pools, including a child pool in the hotel.
One of the famous restaurants is the main restaurant, near the pool, where you can find many kinds of food, as nationally meals, vegetable and lot of fruits.
There is e a famous seafood restaurant, on the beach, where you could get all kinds of shellfish, too.
Staff are very polite, hard-working, speak a few foreign languages, specially waiters.
People are very funny, everything is clear and look very expensive.

Room Tip: Higher floors are dangerous for families with children.
