“Enjoyable but Not a 5 star”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 days ago NEW

We have just returned from a weeks holiday end of April 2015.
We arrived early evening and the first impressions were great, entering a superb spacious lobby, the decor was very grand.
Up early the next morning and on the beach at 8am only to find NOT one sun bed with an umbrella was available. But hey, the beach boys who serve the towels suddenly found us one right on the front row that already looked occupied. For a small fee it was ours and I suddenly realised they have a good scam going Very wrong and not what I expect at a 5 star.

The evening entertainment was a complete joke, non existant.

To sum it all up,
THE GOOD. Cold beer, lovely beach, superb weather and Asian restaurant.
THE BAD. Awful local spirits.
THE UGLY. Rubbish evening entertainment. A bunn fight for a sun bed. Hard beds in the room.
Have stayed in much better.

This is my second time staying at Palm Royale, it was as wonderful as I remembered! Would absolutely come back again, just perfect!
Value for money is incredible. The only thing we paid extra for was a snorkelling trip which I would absolutely recommend - the boatmen were excellent, definitely book directly from the hotel (the little hut along the beach).

Very Impressed.

We had looked on Trip Advisor for a quiet bolt hole for a bit of spring sunshine.

I dive so needed a good site.

Travelled with Thomas Cook, plenty of advice on email and so-forth FLight seating for anyone over 5.11 is very tight. Knees on the back of the seat in front. Inflight breakfast not worth eating.

Hurgarda Airport:- Organised in a way perhaps only the Egyptians can. (Chaos)

Transfer :- Air-conditioned bus Beware of having your luggage put on board. I refused to pay the demanded £5.

Transfer View:- Sadly it looks as if they have built a municipal tip on the beach. Everyone seems to dump anything anywhere. Sad to see.

Hotel.:- Wow. Where to start. Light airy atrium. Marble floors happy smiling staff. The luggage magically arrived in our room whilst we had a drink at the reception bar.

The room . Plenty big enough, good size bathroom. clean view over the Red Sea. palm trees, gentle breeze, not overlooked. We did pay a little more for a Beach front Sea view room, this also entitles you to breakfast on the Terrace Restaurant. (well worth it).

The resorts amenities are as described I had to very good massages, (Thanks Fatima)

Dining:- We ate at all of the option restaurants, Lebanese, Greek, Italian, Asian and the Buffet Cafe. To our palate the Asian shone out but all were fine.

Beach:- Sandy with plenty of shade, brollies and sunbeds with a seemingly unending supply of clean towels. A lagoon and fresh water showers. The bars cheerily dispensed Water, Beer and local spirits which were just about palatable mixed with fruit juices.

There always seemed to be food and a good variety and in plenty. No complaints at all.

Diving:- The Dive In PADI site at the hotel lived up to expectations. Thanks to Lisa, Anna, Tarek, Captain Ali, and the boys who seemed to do everything except dive for you. Exceptional service. The Diving, Well it is the Red Sea, Plenty of fish and Coral to see. My wife was introduced to Diving. Thanks Anna for her kind and gentle help with a nervous Newbee. Earth Day was observed and a clean-up conducted.

Overall :- a very good place to stay. If there was a slight criticism the staff were so keen to keep clean and tidy there was a tendency to clear a table whilst friends were still eating. The Management were always keen to receive feedback and were genuinely interested in making the stay the best possible.

Wi-Fi in the hotel is free and a bit slow it is possible to pay for an upgrade.

Room Tip: Beach Front Sea View Rooms are worth the money

My boyfriend and I stayed here for 11 nights in March seeking some relaxation and sunshine. We were not disappointed.

Upon arrival we enquired about how much a room upgrade would cost. The manager assured us that we would like our room and there was no need to upgrade, saving us money. The room was more than sufficient with 2 double beds, plenty of storage to pack away clothes and a handy mini bar. The bathroom was big and stocked with toiletries daily. The view from the balcony the next morning was so lovely, we had a view of the large pool and Red Sea.

The man who tidied and cleaned our room was polite and would go out of his way to ensure we had everything we needed. One evening the hairdryer blew up and caused the electrics to go out. He happened to be passing and called maintenance for us straight away. It was a bit of a fright but the hotel dealt with it brilliantly, maintenance had the electric back on and fixed a new hairdryer within 30 minutes. A manager even came up to check we were ok and apologised.

There are 2 pools, one large with ample sunbeds and umbrellas and a small heated pool near the spa which was a little sun trap. We spent most of our time on the beach. You have to be up and on the beach before 10am if you want a good spot. Alaa was really friendly, he made sure we had towels and some great sunbeds. Mohammed in the activity hut was so friendly too, make sure you see him if you want to do some sports or excursions. Take a walk on the sand bank which appears around midday when the tide is low, you walk right out into the sea getting a great view of the bay.

I'd recommend paying the spa a visit. We combined our three 20 minute sessions from Thomas Cook into one 50 minute all over body massage and facial session. It was sooo good and part of the all inclusive package!

We tried all the al la carte restaurants. Our favourite was the Asian which we visited 3 nights. We also enjoyed the Lebanese, the setting was really lovely. The staff in all of the restaurants provided an excellent service, they all made you feel really welcome. The buffet had nice food too, you won't go hungry here. The cakes are to die for! We loved the beach café where you can get burgers and toasted sandwiches.

The entertainment team were enthusiast and tried really hard to get everyone involved in sports and the nightly shows. The shows were a bit cheesy buit we had a laugh and took part. They work such long hours but never failed to smile or stop to talk to you.

Our favourite place when the sun went down was Johnny's bar, an old English pub with the best bar staff you could wish for. Ahmed and Mina are a credit to this hotel, the service and friendship they provided during our holiday made it a much more enjoyable experience.

We did the Luxor and dolphin boat trips through Thomas Cook. It was great to get out of the hotel to experience a bit of Egyptian history and culture, it's a fascinating country. Scuba diving in the famous Red Sea was great fun too.

We never go back to the same holiday destinations but I'd certainly recommend this hotel. Say hello to the wonderful staff for us.

We have just had another amazing 2 week holiday at this beautiful hotel 3rd April-17th April. Even after 6 visits it still keeps surpassing itself. The staff remember you year on year, it just makes for a very relaxing experience. The rooms are spotless, the food is amazing with 4 other restaurants to choose from after the al a carte. It is certainly a little bit of heaven!!
We would however like to mention a few very special people that always went out of their way to be courteous and helpful. Hussain and Ashok in Café Stella. They knew what time you went for breakfast, lunch and dinner. They were always helpful and did so with a smile.
Liezel in the Asian restaurant. Nothing is to much for this lady. She has a fantastic understanding of the food that is being served, and is more than happy to adapt your requirements according to your taste.
Nisthamta and Amar in the Italian restaurant also do an amazing job, they remember you from previous visits and their only aim is to make your experience and pleasurable one. This they both do with amazing smiles.
Tadrous Lofty and Mena Gami at the beach bar, welcome you daily with a smile and some banter. They quickly remember your drinks and if like us your predictable with you time, they remember this also.
Eunice in the atrium bar is another lovely person, she is so pleasant and with such an amazing personality, how lucky they are to have her as a member of their team.
Then there is the dive-in team Tarek, Anna and Nemo... you made our diving experience one to be truly remembered and for that we cannot find the words to thank you enough. We look forward to seeing you again next year and following the course through to the end.
Now a final word about the management team Kannan and Chris especially, you have always made yourselves approachable, nothing is too much bother to you, for that we thank you! We can now only think of you as friends. If anybody can actually go to this hotel and not be completely satisfied we would be utterly shocked...

Room Tip: We love the rooms in the Nefertiti building, looking out to the sea.

Just returned from this wonderful hotel, where nothing is too much trouble for the staff. The staff are very hard working and so eager to please. I did not hear one complaint during my stay. On arrival you enter a huge reception which is very unquie. First night we used the main restaurant. This was amazing for a buffet, the next nights we used the speciality dinning. I must rave over the Asian restaurant the most wonderful food ever. A big thanks to the gentleman called Sammy in the Azur Bar for looking after us so well at lunchtimes. The beach front I'd beautiful equally as good as most carribean Islands. Room was very comfortable and so was the bed. This hotel is immaculately maintained, give yourselves a well deserved applause. Thank you.
