“word of warning”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 3, 2013

First of all as you read from all other reviews the hotel and staff are second to none.
The word of warning is be carefull who you book excursions with as we found out to our lifelong costs. We booked our Honeymoon withThomas cook and went with Blue Sky travel (who Thomas Cook uses) to go on snorkeling and diving trips running out of Sunrise Royal Makadi which is over a hours bus trip not 10 mins as rep told us. The first trip was a snorkeling trip to paradise Island the whole trip was a joke from start to finish and is a serious accident waiting to happen due to lack of Health and Safety even for Eygpt Standards.
The second trip was a Diving trip. I was scheduled to dive and my wife was to just snorkel, she was talked into trying out diving which she agreed, which ended up with my wife being sexually assaulted by the dive Instuctor whilst at 8 mtrs underwater for 20mins. she was so traumatized by what took place it wasnt till our return to our hotel she told me what had happened, apart from the assault she recieved no actual dive training only how to breath, the matter is now under Investigation by British Police, Egyption Police, Thomas Cook Legal Dept and Padi Dive Association.
The reason for telling you all about this is so you can just be aware and to use the Hotel Dive facilities and the excursions running from the hotel marina, because as we found out if anything happens off the hotel grounds the managment are simply not Interested They Listened but they didnt hear. they were more interested in if we were happy with our rooms than the wife`s welfare. My wife was as also told by Thomas Cook rep to just remember the fist few good days we had and to go home and cook your husband some spicy dinners and all will be ok and to forget it ever happened.
This is our third trip to Eygpt and will be our last. Please be Careful.

Nothing to complain about. Very competent and kind stuff. Nice food and good service.
We were there for 7 days in the end of February for kitesurfing. It was a bit chilly for sunbathing but windy enough for kiting. There are 2 kite/surf stations on the territory of the hotel. The smaller one is closer to the main building and the bigger one is a bit far. You can rent all stuff on the stations or use yours and leave it in the special storage on the station. Guys at the station would always help you and rescue if you have problems far in the sea. Really enjoyed time there.
Should say that holidays there is quite expensive. But it is obvious that you should pay for high quality service. Though sometimes you can find good low cost offers. But I would never suggest you to travel by Odeon (Coral) TA.

Room Tip: All the rooms have balconies with beautiful view on the sea. Rooms with odd numbers and in the Nefer...

Where do i start well been to egypt many times and have stayed in some good hotels but this one is by far the best. We stayed their for two weeks from 22nd janurary my wife daughter her partner and grandson. From the momment we arrived till the day we left we had the best expirience. Palm royale is shuch a nice place, the reception area has the wow factor, the atrium bar is wonderful, rooms are spot on, the grounds are great and its right on a fantastic beach the pool and heated pool are so good very relaxing but if you want more theres always the good animation team where you can join in with the fun and games.. The sevice is second to none all the waiters in all restaraunts and bars are brilliant and deserve a big thank you they could'nt have done more to make our stay any better. The hole place is spotlessly clean and the decor is out of this world. The food in the buffet restaraunt and al a carte are top notch and all have a good choice. There is nothing they would'nt do for you, we ceabrated two birthdays and an aniversary whilst there and the staff made them very memorable. Trust me when we have been to egypt many times this is the best hotel there by far. We have already booked again for July and we cannot wait to return to this wonderul place. thanks each and everyone at Palm Royale,

We arrived on 15 february. Wind was up, but by around 11 it was warm enough to get on the beach. Ta to Badwe, the beach boy -he was so good. The hotel itself is lovely. The lobby has a real wow factor to it. The staff are all wonderful. The reception manager just couldnt do enough for us. Food. Well for egypt it is good. The a la carte restaurants for us were a bit of a let down for us but having said that, it was somewhere different to eat. The bedrooms are lovely and large. We will go back but will book a beachfront room. The pool was closed due to a leak. They hope to get this finished in a couple of weeks. Thomas cook should be letting their guests know, but they didnt us, shame on you. Would we go back? Very much a yes. Best hotel so far and we have visited 10 others in egypt. Thanks again to all of the staff. You are amazing!!

This hotel is gorgeous. Lovely rooms (even the beds were comfy!), lovely facilities and location. I could bang on about these at length (but I won't as others have already described them well). I would definitely recommend it.
The food is fine - we ate in two of the a la cartes which were great, but the main restaurant is good too - a bit same-y but something for everyone and everything tasty, fresh, and well-prepared, and some 'theme nights' for the menu. Certainly by far the best food I have had on an all-inclusive, buffet-type provision. The restaurant staff are very friendly and quickly get to know what drinks you like etc.
The beach is great - special mention for Badwy the towel guy, very helpful and friendly, and the most entertaining camel on the planet (likes a beer, and seems to like dance music too)....
in fact, all the staff are attentive and helpful beyond belief. Excellent service. One suggestion is that you may want to take a decent stash of £coins or Euros for small tips along the way though.
Two complaints. Firstly the main pool was out of action. This was not a problem really, insofar as the hotel was only at 30% occupancy and, at that level, there was ample space on the beach and in the health club pool; and the hotel's other good qualities made up for the lack. But it was a shame as it looked as if it would have been pretty spectacular! Thomas Cook told us this was because it had sprung a leak but hotel staff said it was routine maintenance (but could go on for several weeks). However, it had been out of action for four days before our departure but TC - who did know! - failed to mention it until we were in the coach from the airport, which in these days of instant email comms is disgraceful.
Second gripe echoes what has been said elsewhere in these reviews - AVOID the Thos Cook snorkelling trip. We put in a complaint about it, and feel it is not safe. But on the positive side the TC rep, Mustafa, was very helpful so that was good.
We did go on one of the hotel's own short fishing trips and thoroughly enjoyed that. If i was going again i would try the hotel's own snorkelling trip.
One issue is that the hotel is some distance from Hurghada and even from Makhadi, so if you do want to go into town, or on organised trips, expect to spend time in the bus. However, it is also deliciously peaceful in its out of town location, which was just fine with me!
In summary - this place is great. It was the first time in many years that I had wanted to stay longer rather than feel ready to come home by the end of the holiday!

We recently spent two weeks at the Palm Royale, and having travelled fairly extensively across the world, found the staff and general customer service amongst the best we have ever had. The hotel was only about 25% full, mainly UK and Russian guests.
We used all of the 4 A La Carte restaurants, and rated them all. Lunch or dinner could both be taken in Café Stella (the buffet restaurant) and we found a good selection of produce including at least one fish dish at lunchtime and evenings.
Drinks were plentiful, and although the local spirits take a little getting used to, service was fast, efficient and most times the staff remembered your particular tipple and kept us topped up!
The pool was very quiet due to the low guest numbers, and with plentiful loungers on the immaculate beach, we opted to sit by the sea! Comfy cushions on both pool and beach loungers ensured that we lazed around in comfort.
I could go on and on about individuals who treated us well, but in all honesty, everyone from front to back of house are working superbly as a team to ensure guest get a very enjoyable holiday.
Keep up the good work..

Room Tip: We were in the main block (room 1140) which was a little noisy at night, but an excellent location t...

We had a really relaxing break at this hotel. Staff fantastic. We found the best food in the "self-service" part - our waiter Mohamed was always smiling and extremely helpful.
Whilst the Main pool was freezing - it did not really matter - the spa pool (huge btw) was like a warm bath. The sea was lovely to swim in too.

We took advantage of most of the sports : diving, windsurfing, sailing and free tennis (we went with thomas cook) - as part of the Thomas Cook deal we also got free treatments in the spa which were top stuff too. On the last day we paid for a waterskiing trip (rather expensive)

I did get a little annoyed on the first day by the rather pushy beach vendors (selling boat trips) but by the second day we had either bought a trip or told them we didnt want one and were left alone. In fact they were pretty friendly.
The Hotel was only 25% occupied and did seem fairly split between the Brits and the Russians - but we all rubbed along in our own way.
The rooms were large - but we perhaps should have insisted on more of a family room. We just had two double beds.
The evening entertainment was hilarious - if only because of its "naffness"
What really stood out was the food and free drink (my dad came with us and is rather partial to a bit of wine .. rather a lot actually)

OH -i did slip a disc waterskiing on the last day - but that was my fault not the hotels!
