myself, my parents and friend did 2 weeks over christmas and new year at jasmine and it exceeded our expectations soooo much!we went with an open mind, expecting dicky stomachs and lame food, but were proved wrong on both counts!
the hotel was decorated amazingly for the xmas period, lights everywhere made it look so pretty!
there wasnt many people in the hotel whilst we were there, which could have been down to people being put off with the issues in cairo, the service we received from all the staff there was outstanding, whether thats because the hotel was quiet or not i couldnt comment, but the guys in the lobby bar (inside and out) were so attentive, they knew what drinks you liked and brought them over automatically as soon as we'd taken a seat.they were all so friendly and made great conversation and you really felt like part of the jasmine community! This is the only all inclusive resort where i didnt have to go to the bar to ask for a drink, they were just that good!we did tip regularly throughout the holiday which i dont think does you any harm, but i got the impression that you would have received a great service no matter what!the staff for us played a huge part in our holiday and making it what it was.
We personally thought the food was great, there was plenty of choice and enough restaurants and pool/beach bars to visit across the 3 hotels that you cant really say theres no options!however it does cater for russians/germans/egyptians so there isnt a lot of stereotypical english food, but its tasty all the same.the effort they went to on xmas eve and new years eve was just mind blowing, massive dessert displays, they did all sorts of meat for traditional xmas dinner if you wanted it and ive got to say the best turkey gravy ive ever eaten!wasnt expecting that at all!We ate the the oriental restaurant a few times, which was lovely, there wasnt as much choice, but the food always seemed hotter from there and inside is decorated lovely!we also paid and had lunch in the fish restaurant twice, the jumbo prawns were to die for, definitely worth a visit.
We had a twin and a double room between us,the beds were the comfiest thing ive ever slept in, which is such a rarity!house keeping staff were very attentive, sometimes a little too over keen to help, we were knocked up a few mornings for our towels, but we soon resolved this by putting the do not disturb sign on the door!they were kept nice and clean though and we had nice little towel shapres left on the beds a few times!
This is the only thing that lets the hotel down and is the thing that stops me giving it a 5/5. The animation team seem great and are always offering activities during the day and keep the kids
occupied,, at night they had this old guy who destroyed a lot of old favourite songs and he was on pretty much every night! They put on shows in the pergola at night, which is a great setting, but there wasnt many people in there so there wasnt much of an atmosphere, on new year they decided to put all the entertainment on outside the lobby, which worked better, although the terrible singer still made an appearance!we werent the only people who thought this about him, lots of other visitors had the same opinion, but i nothings perfect and we did have a laugh about it!the music choices could have also been a bit more modern to, but i suppose theyre trying to cater formixed age groups and cultures.
The beach is amazing, the sand feels like flour its so fine!the sunloungers were very comfy and they staff on the beach looked after us from day one and reserved our loungers everyday with fresh towels which was a nice touch. The snorkelling is good and theres loads of wind/kite surfing opportunities! We did get mithered a little bit with the guys trying to sell trips and spa treatments etc, but they were always friendly and if you sunbathe topless (women!) they dont approach you as i dont think they are allowed to!this is a handy tip!!!
Its only around 20 mins ish away from the airport and the same to the centre of Hurghada and the marina, which is about £12 return in a taxi and its the same distance to the desert which is crazy!Theres the cleopatra shopping mall about 4 mins walk away, they try to offer you taxis and tell you its far away, but it is walking distance, you do get mithered to hell there though so i wouldnt recommend going unless you are intending to buy!i dont think they believe in browsing! The shops in the hotel reception are good though and they one is alibaba is good too.
Overall we had a great holiday at this hotel, they helped us celebrate our christmas and new year fantastically, we go abroad for christmas and new year every year and our holiday to jasmine will defnintely take some beating, so much so that i think we'll be booking for 2014!highly recommend this place and everything it has to offer!
we had 850 and 849, which were in the middle of the pool and the main restaurant, on the border of t...
