“EXCELLENT HOTEL”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 8, 2013

Fabulous hotel where the staff cannot do enough to make your stay brilliant. Rooms are very spacious and kept spotlessly clean, many thanks to ALI who cleaned our room throughout our stay. The grounds of the hotel are very well kept and always being tended. The private beach is only minutes walk away and well worth a paddle. Food is great either buffet style, Mediterranean or indian the latter two you have to book for but visits are unlimited. The pool bar is run by YOUSIF who was always very friendly and good at his job. Daily entertainment is run by the animation team who made our holiday a great one thanks to SOUDANY, CHICCO, MARC, MOMO, BOB, SIMONE, MAZ AND JULIA .All in all from the reception staff to the pool boys all are credit to the hotel and I would recommend this hotel to anyone.

We (5 adults 3 children aged 11,7, and 15months) visited Crystal Bay from 30th July to 7th August, from the time we arrived at 10pm we were greeted with a cold drink and shown the buffet restaurant to catch a meal before it closed, cases were taken to our rooms and although there was a mix up with one room, junior suite was too small for the couple with 3 children, we were given another pool suite (extra 30euro pp, pn ) so ended with 2 pool suites, to be fair I think the mix up in booking was thomas cook's fault and mine in not checking properly. Following morning had to change suites again as one of the single beds in 710 was running alive with large ants, hundreds of them....so off we went again and ended in suites 701 and 703 where we stayed for rest of holiday :) no ones fault ants got in somehow but really should have been checked properly before we slept there. The remaining week was brilliant, loved the fact we could wake up and jump straight into private pool..and spend all day in there if we wanted, which we did... rooms were cleaned daily and checks made by housekeeping twice a day to ensure everything was fine, fresh fruit delivered every day, water and soft drinks, own cabanas on beach outside each suite. Quite a long walk to lobby and main restaurants in the searing heat for ole granma here and the baby grandson so every day we rang for transport and the golf buggy turned up took us all there and dropped us off, always with a smile no problems. Staff in restaurant always friendly and smiling and could'nt do enough for us... good selection of food lots different every day breakfast and dinner, Indian and Mediterranean Restaurants were excellent too... ate at Pool Cafe lunchtime most days good selection of food, brilliant omelettes.. Baby was ill 2 days and good service from hotel doctor.... antibiotic injection and one to stop him vomiting which worked, tonsillitis.... recovered quickly checked him every 2 days too..must mention some names here ALAA at the pool bar, what a wonderful man friendly smiling and 5* service in that heat and Ramadan too he worked solidly all day bringing drinks to us in pool and cabanas as soon as he saw he had finished, and Mohamed who cleaned all the pools every day always with a smile and friendly chat , plus Ahmed housekeeping who kept the suites spotless and came twice to check on me when one day I had the dreaded Pharoah's revenge (from too much sun not the food) , We even ventured to Cairo for a day trip (flight) with Memphis Tours (review on their page) wonderful day the pyramids and sphinx and museum are not to be missed , although the heat was incredible and traffic well what can I say it was cairo :) no demos as we went on a thursday and demo's are usually fridays as its half day working. Wished we had time for the desert trip and dolphin watching but maybe next time.. agree with all the positive points in KA12345 review . Lovely Hotel, Brilliant staff well worth it and if you can afford the private pool suites.... wonderful.....plane was leaving 21.30 so we asked for late check out at 5pm stayed in suite and pool all day then sat in lobby had snacks and drinks until 19.00. no problem for them
will place 2 more reviews one on memphis tours and one on thomas cook will never fly with them again :) .But as far as Crystal Bay goes, well done guys brilliant job.

Room Tip: Junior Suites seemed little small for a family, only sofa beds in lounge with kids or extra people...

Our family visited Crystal Bay the last two weeks of July. It was a superb holiday. The hotel staff make you feel welcome from the moment you arrive till the time you leave. Yousif at the pool bar from 10.00 am to 6.00 pm always had a smile even though it was Ramadan & temp was over 40° most days. Bassam also made you feel welcome when he was serving. Alaa provided excellent service when we hired a cabana on the private beach. Mohammed who waitered on the lobby bar provided brilliant service both day & night. Marc - animation team lead the waterpolo which kept the family occupied each day. The Mediterranean restaurant can be recommended. Also the desert trip & the snokeling trip excellent days out. Thank you all for such a wonderful holiday and we would love to return sometime.

Had a wonderful time. This is our second time at the Crystal Bay and we recommend it highly. We have been all over Egypt (Sharm, Taba, Taba Heights, Nambq Bay etc) and this is the only place we've been back to.
The whole place is gleaming, fantastic decor (nothing tired looking about this place) and definately deserves it's 5 star rating.
We had an Executive Suite with private pool and our own cabana on the private part of the beach. Saying that, we stayed in a deluxe room last year, which was superb (we went back this year)!
For those maybe thinking of the suites, our suite was immaculate and incredibly spacious, with a main bedroom consisting of Queen bed, walk in wardrobe, huge bathroom with double shower and bath and his and her sinks (plus toilet of course in separate room); a lounge; another large bedroom with twin beds and a further bathroom with shower, bath etc - all rooms with flat screen tvs. Our private garden was very big with a good size swimming pool, decking, sunbeds and table and chairs and a shower (for rinsing off that pesky sand etc). Someone previously mentioned the walk from the executive suite/beach area is a 'good 8 minute walk from the main pools etc' - not true at all, it only takes half that! With the nice warm evenings and lovely surroundings it's a nice little walk! However, you can ask to be collected and taken up to the main entrance by transport, should you really need to.
Cleaning took place daily, in the morning, and was done to a very high standard, along with some beautiful 'towel art'. Our pool was also cleaned daily, first thing in the morning, so no interruptions during the day.
Fridges are replenished with bottles of water every day and soft drinks every few days.
The whole of the complex is lovely - clean, well tended, lovely staff etc. The beach is really nice, with a shallow entrance into the warm sea. The sand is nice and kept clean, with a beach bar and restaurant. For those on the private section of the beach, there is a separate bar etc with your own waiter who brings cold drinks to you (so you don't have to move from your sunbathing!) - a very special mention for Alaa who was our barman/waiter. What a great bloke, always smiling and spoiling us.
The greeting on arrival at the hotel is incredibly friendly, with cold hand towels provided and a cooling drink. Luggage is promptly taken to where you are staying (no lugging it there yourself).
Food is good, with a nice variety - from breakfast through to dinner. The dining areas are immaculate and comfy. The Med and Indian restaurants are a must to try, fantastic food and service.
The main pools are good and kept lovely and clean and are centrally sited.
Plenty of space to sit outside in the evening, with low key entertainment. Waiters are excellent, rushing around, taking orders, delivering drinks, always with a smile. I do get so annoyed seeing other guests when they're rude to them! They should be commended, working long hours in that heat, especially during Ramadan.
All in all, a great place to spend your holiday......go on, give it a go!

My wife and I returned home 5 days ago after the most amazing 14 night holiday we've ever had.

There is nothing bad that we can possibly say about the Sunrise Select Crystal Bay Resort. Previously, we have stayed in the Sunrise Holidays Resort, Sunrise Mamlouk Palace, and Sunrise Select Garden Beach, but this hotel is by far and away the most superior in almost every aspect.

Situated on it's own private lagoon beach, but with access through to the beach shared by the Mamlouk and Garden Beach hotels, the Crystal Bay Resort is only a short 10 minute transfer from Hurghada airport, on the main Hurghada - Safaga road.

On arrival, we upgraded our superior double room to a Junior Suite for only £180 for the 2 weeks of our holiday. This gave us the luxury of a huge double room, a separate sitting room area, the biggest bathroom we've ever seen, 2 huge LG flatscreen TVs, and a balcony overlooking the beach, lagoon, abd the Red Sea itself. Throughout our stay, our accommodation was kept immaculately clean each day by our housekeeping man, so a huge thanks must go to Saeed for this. He also replenished the water in our minibar each day, and the soft drinks were refilled at the end of our 1st week.

Food-wise, my wife is quite a fussy eater but even she was spoilt for choice. We usually ate in the main Rainbow restaurant and always found the found plentiful, with a wide variety of choice and, unlike some other reviews on here, never over-repetitive. The Rainbow restaurant is open daily for breakfast, lunch and dinner, with the hotel's 2 other a-la-caret restaurants being open every night for dinner (please note that reservations are required for these, which are made on a touch-screen booking system, located in the main lobby area, at least 24 hours beforehand). There is also the Felucca fish restaurant, situated at the far end of the hotel's grounds on a jetty out into the bay. Although the hotel is an all-inclusive resort, the Felucca restaurant is charged extra, albeit very reasonably (e.g. £10 for a main course).

Any questions or queries you may have during your stay will be handled immediately and very efficiently by any of the Guest Service Centre team. A special mention must be made of Clarisse from the Guest Service Centre, who could not have been more helpful and friendly throughout our stay.

Having previously visited Hurghada 7 previous times, my wife and I were here for a lazy relaxing 2 week holiday so did not take up the chance to go on any of the trips on offer. Due to the current "troubles" in some areas of Egypt, the Cairo and Luxor trips are currently suspended, but there are still all the usual desert, diving, deserted island, waterpark trips etc should you so wish.

Although we were on a relaxing holiday, I took an active part in all the activities run daily by the hotel's magnificent animation team, managed by Amr (the Lazy Chicken). A Huge thanks to Mark, Soudany, Simone, Maz, Juliia, Bob, Chicco and MoMo. Of all the years coming to Hurghada, this is by far the best, most professional animation team we've encountered. Every day they appeared to be genuinely enjoying themselves, whilst also ensuring anyone taking part in the activities (waterpool, aqua-gym, beach volleyball, salsa lessons etc) also enjoyed themselves, however they were never pushy and if you said no then they'd just say thanks, have a great day, and leave you alone.

The poolbar, around which we spent all our holiday, was expertly and efficiently run by Yousif Karm. What an amazing barman he is. Very well educated, with excellent language skills, this young man greatly helped make our holiday as memorable as it has been. He was always smiling and laughing, from 10am to 6pm, this despite it being Ramadan and, as a Muslim, Yousif was not even able to have a drink of water which, in the 40 degree heat, I'm sure he would have loved. Everyone around the poolbar commented on just how pleasant this young man is. He is a credit to Sunrise hotels.

A couple of suggestions for Sunrise hotels - as the main poolbar area can get quite busy, put another member of staff on duty at the swim-up side so that this facility can be used properly. Also, as we've seen previously in our stays at other Sunrise hotels, provide cakes/pastries in the afternoon at the poolbar. There is tea and coffee on tap, so something to nibble on would be nice.

Yes, this hotel's on the final approach flightpath to the airport, but after the first day, you tend not to notice the planes. There's only around a dozen or so flights in a day anyway, so it's not really a big issue.

In summary, our 9th trip to a Sunrise in Hurghada has been the best ever. This is due to the Crystal Bay Resort being the best hotel we've ever stayed in, the staff being the most efficient, friendly and helpful we've ever encountered (an extra thanks to Mohammed the assistant bar manager), the animation team being the best we've ever experienced, and the new friends we've made being some of the nicest people ever.

We have today, rebooked for June 2014 and simply cannot wait to return. Neither my wife nor I would hesitate in recommending this hotel to anyone. Should you want any more information please get in touch.

Room Tip: Rooms nearer main hotel building may be slightly noisier in the early evenings.
