Cannot fault this resort. There is a lovely private beach, where you can put your sunbed on the edge and be lapped to sleep by the waves. Great pool and beach restaurant. Would return. Great omelettes in the morning made by a very friendly omelette man, just watch out for the sparrows as they will eat off your plate if you turn your back.

Room Tip: All rooms face the sea I think.

Spent ten days at the Sunrise Holiday Resort with my girlfriend and her family at the end of June/start of July, and what can I say - I really had the best of times!

The hotel instantly sets a good impression with it's large, open and clean lobby where the reception staff are friendly and the bell boys are eager to help you with your bags.

The rooms, whilst not as instantly as impressive as the lobby, were spacious and provided everything which we needed - including a beautiful sea view! They were cleaned daily by a house-keeping team who were always ensuring that your stay was to your satisfaction.

The beach and lagoon were, for me, one of the highlights of the holiday. Sat directly behind the hotel, this private beach provided plenty of sun loungers and the man-made lagoon ensured that even when the sea was too dangerous to swim in, you could still enjoy the water in the lagoon.

The beach bar and snack bar are perfectly situated on the edge of the beach, so you don't have to go far to keep hydrated and nourished in the Egyptian heat. The food provided at the snack bar was typical snack food - i.e. chips, burger, hot dogs - and was perfect if you wanted to remain on the beach while eating lunch. The beach bar provides all of the alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks you need, including a good selection of cocktails. A special mention must go to Abdou from the beach bar who was always friendly, up for a laugh and upon sight of us, would always bring drinks to our table - excellent service!

The food at the main El Sol Restaurant is of a good standard. Everyday there is a different theme to the buffet food, ranging from traditional Egyptian to Italian, French, and British. The selection is wide, and whilst not everything was to my own tastes, there was always something that I liked.

Another highlight of the holiday was the Animation Team. During the daytime they roam the beach trying to drum up interest in activities such as volleyball, aqua aerobics and water polo. Particular mention must go to Teto who stopped by everyday to have a chat and play the occasional joke on my girlfriend's mother and grandmother. He was very funny, but also very happy to help with any issues or queries you may have - for example, finding my girlfriend's grandmother a seat closer to the stage during the evening show due to her poor eyesight.

In the evenings, the Animation Team would put on shows ranging from karaoke to comedy shows. Whilst initially sceptical about a comedy show, it turned out to be easily my favourite with every member of the Team possessing hilarious comic timing! It was fantastic!

This is a hotel that is really made by the quality of its staff. Everyone gave that little bit extra to ensure that we had the best of holidays and we're all definitely hoping to return!!

Room Tip: If you're not happy with your room, ask reception for a room change - they're very accommoda...

This Hotel has a great beach location and its near to the town, just a 10 min walk and you are right in the heart of it all.
We had a lovely return welcome from reception when we arrived. Our room on the 4th floor was lovely, overlooking the lagoon (we had floor 2 last time, nice but not such a nice view.
There is always plenty to eat and several restaurants to eat in The Beach restaurant has a casual feel to it, The Pizza and Burger bar was OK but the Arabic restaurant and El Sol are the best, The Arabic does an English roast on a Sunday, try it and make your own mind up!! We went both Sundays as we were there 2 weeks. I think we came across the same manager (the loud one with the glasses) he was rude to us a few times, once when we asked him for drinks and again after he had just shouted at one or two of the waiters in the restaurant if front of all the guests,it was very embarrassing! We also ended up in El Sol or the Beach restaurant because of his rudeness.
We went on a couple of trips. The 2 day Luxor trip was well worth the money our guide Ash was fabulous and we saw so much!
Mahmaya Island was a lovely day out- the best bit was swimming of the back of the boat, there is so much to see.
All in all we had a great time again and will be back next year
Thanks to everyone who made our holiday great...!!

Room Tip: The views from the 4th floor are good

we have just come back from a perfect relaxation holiday at sunrise holiday resort. we flew what I would say cattle class in Thomas cook full flight limited room. when we got off the plane we were shown to our coaches where a man was expecting £2 just to put our cases on the coach, and he wasn't even the driver. the trip from the airport to hotel was about 20 mins. checking was painless and we were shown to our room 521 a twin room. room was lovely kettle hairdrier tv balcony and shower. it was clean and beds were comfortable.
the hotel was forever being cleaned and the staff we met were very polite and friendly and spoke English. the hotel has just stopped having children staying min age is 16. which I have to say is excellent as there wasn't any screaming or shouting or running to get into the pool.
we ate in all the resturants but I found the aida restaurant the best for breakfast and lunch plenty of choice and less crowded. we had the al a carte one night which was ok. but the deserts left a lot to be desired.
the welcome meeting was informative and it was nice to meet the heads of department. we also saw them on the beach and by the pool and they were concerned that you were having a good time. the hotel was mainly Russians and English clientele. and the english are far more polite and courteous I have to say.
our intention was to do nothing for the week which we did. the foreign office warned people not to leave the resort and travel to luxor cairo. so those trips were cancelled.
we met a lovely mother and daughter Claire and mina and they made our holiday special. we hired a glass bottem boat for 4 hours at a charge of £100 from Gammi ( who we nickname Meerkat) as he kept popping up on the beach. this was a excellent day and made special for us by the captain. he took us snorkling and we were able to see the coral reef and the amazing fishes. he took us to the marina and showed us the mosque and the amazing boats that were in.
the only other outing we had was to the hard rock café. nice meal good entertainment.
the only thing I feel lets down the hotel is the entertainment, whilst they tried to do there best when you were on the beach I didn't feel it was appropriate for them to yell volleyball or aqua aerobics every morning after all it wasn't a 18-30s resort. we missed a few of the evening entertainment but I don't think we missed much.
the lagoon and the beach is amazing you didn't have to sit by the pool and there were plenty of sunbeds wind breakers and parasols but we are creatures of habit and people were still putting towel down to reserve beds. its also nice to be able to get pool towels every day with your card

the shops are a nice touch and we had a laugh with Richard and mina very good if you want nice silver jewellery nothing was too much trouble, and handmade.
was there anything I would change:::: yes 1: I think the wifi should be free I think that It should be like other hotel u get a code on a 24hr basis so u have a choice if you want to use it.
2: I think that the bottled water should be in a cool cabinet in the resturants where you can help yourself. also soft drinks and wine would be better if it was on tap as we waited quite a while for the waiters to bring us drinks.
3
I also think that in the el sol restaurant you should be waited to be seated as there were people walking round with food trying to find tables
apart from that we had a fantastic holiday and I would go back again just to see more of the town.
one thing I would say is take a small cool bag especially for the beach it keeps the bottles of water cold all day

Room Tip: 521 had a small balcony which had a post in the way.

just came back from a10 night stay in this hotel, after reading the reviews I was dreading it...... on arrival was met by a very happy and polite receptionist, we were shown our room which had a beautiful sea view, although dated was very clean, towels and bedding changed daily.... as for the food it was beautiful, very fussy husband who found something at every meal and thoroughly enjoyed it, there was four restaurants u could choose from, and the beach bar which served food from 12, and your pizza was made freshly for you...had an amazing relaxed 10 days and would recommend this hotel to anyone.as for the people who wrote the previous reviews saying it was rubbish, you must just go on holiday looking for things to moan about, I found that nothing was a bother to any of the staff in this hotel, they even had people walking around all day asking if there was anything u weren't happy with. my only problem was the wind which was very strong while we were there, which they said was very unusual for this time of year, on the plus side it kept the temperature down a bit

Recently got back from a two weeks holiday at the sunrise. We were a party of eight family members and it was our third time at the hotel. Well what can I say third time back gives it away I think and I can honestly say I will definitely be returning, great staff who can't do enough for you, great food and overall an excellent holiday. The lagoon is an added bonus for everyone and the fish in there are a sight to see. Would highly recommend this hotel and can't wait to go back again.
