“Very pleasant”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 3, 2012

The Hotel is 16 years Old. The room have been done but bathrooms are still the old ones and seem not to have been touched. The hotel lacks warmth but the staff are very well trained and helpful. We stayed for a week which was a bit long given the fact that the sea was still quite cold. We were on MAP. Buffets for breakfast and Dinner. Breakfast was a bit dull, dinner ok although most of the time only the name of the theme changed, the content of the food not. Nevertheless the food was good. Here was a cooking station which was very good.
Beach was well maintained but one could see the pollution of the Red Sea
Beach bar was excellent with small food outlet for pizzas etc.
Hurghada is bait of a sad tte. With the exception of some expensive resorts such as El Gouna it seems pretty run down. Lots of abandoned hotel and Condo development.
People are holding up very well inspite of the current political situation. it still is very safe.

Room Tip: All rooms are with sea view. Try to get one overlooking the beach, not the pool

We stayed here for our honeymoon and we loved the rooms, the service etc we dint use much of as we were pretty well looked after by our travel agent, but the resort and its beach is brilliant.
The breakfast buffet was also good although i wish they did change their menu, we stayed there for 3 days and frankly having the same side orders can get a bit boring and you would expect marriott to have a bit more creativity.

Booked through Kuoni 5 nights mid Jan 2012. Check in went well and our baggage followed us to the room promptly. The room was a reasonable size with plenty of space to put things.
Bathroom was clean, bath/shower a single unit but fully equiped. The bed was a king size with the hardest matress I've ever encountered. We tried it for one night and got no sleep, spoke to reception in the morning and 10 mins later housekeeping were at the bedroom door inspecting and then changing the matress to something much more to our liking. The view of the swimming pool and sea beyond from our room was fab, less so the building site next door (work ceased 4 years ago apparently and not likely to re-start in the near future).
Breakfast choice was good, chef to make omlettes to order also pancakes and waffles, coffee not good - weak and lukewarm, orange juice was squash ( although freshly squeezed seemed possible on request with tipping !, I guess). Tried the Italian Restaurant and found it to be very good, the evening buffet was reasonable in the main restaurant, poolside bars were fine and food fairly promptly delivered Overall we had an enjoyable time
2 gripes - 1) the whole Hotel looked a little tired round the edges, mop marks on upright surfaces where they meet the floor, our bathroom door was chipped at the bottom, a drawer in the room had lost a handle, the tile grouting at the shower end of the bath was beginning to discolour..
2) the main restaurant had a wine promotion - 25% off the price- but when service and sales tax were added they were added to the original price not the discounted price (inflating the cost), the only employee to get my point on this was a receptionist , including the restaurant manager, waiters and the hotel accountant who did give me a refund on the overcharge but didn't seem to appreciate that the system was at fault.
The hotel looks like it's located in the middle of town, however most of the places you want to be are at the far ends of town a good 30-40 mins walk or taxi ride in either direction.

Room Tip: Rooms 646 - 651, great views, high and quiet, in the sun until mid afternoon.

I travel to Hurghada often for my work and am occasionally booked at the Marriott by the company a am consultant to. Throughout the years I have noted that this hotel provided a steady service of good quality. The rooms are good, quiet, furnished in decent taste. The beds are very comfortable. The A/C easy to control and turn off if necessary. The outdoor breakfast area in the sun just outside the restaurant was delightful in the cold winter days I was last in Hurghada. The staff is friendly and helpful, although I have noted that this is rather characteristically in Egypt. I must give this hotel very bad marks concerning an outrageously expensive access to WiFi, which I find intolerable whether one travels for business or pleasure; however there is free access to a decent connection in the deli shop at the ground floor, which I consider a partial excuse to this puzzling blemish in an otherwise great hotel. I cannot judge on items such as pool, sauna, etc. as I was there only for business.

Hotel is in a great location and a very short walk to the village road with all of it's restaurants and shopping. The beachfront at the hotel is not as good as the resorts a little further down the road but is adequate. The hotel staff are very friendly and very helpful.

I was just searching to see if Blue O Two was listed on Trip Advisor to review and found the below review on the Marriot site. I read with interest the reviewers comments which differed very much from our own experience less than a month later. We booked our entire trip directly with Blue O Two, which maybe makes a difference, but I have to say I have never been so well looked after! We also flew from Manchester on a Thomson flight which is a budget airline so definitely not the most comfortable with appalling on board food, buy a sandwich beforehand would be my advice. On arrival we were greeted by the Blue O Two rep with our visas, whisked through and our luggage once collected on the other side, whisked to our bus transfer and within 30 minutes we were installed on our boat, MY Blue Fin for the North and Ras Mohammed trip. Our dive guides were Chrissie and Kinga who were both excellent. The food and diving was second to none for the entire week. We were always aware that we could stay for free on the boat on the Thursday night or choose to book a hotel, staying on the boat also included dinner if required on board, we along with quite a few others ate out that night, at a quite expensive restaurant which wasn't a patch on the food we had had on the boat. Breakfast on the Friday was as good as every other day for us. We were aware and clearly they need to turn the boat around for the next set of guests that we needed to be off by 9am which I thought was perfectly reasonable. The dive guides work 6 weeks on and 1 week off with only one night (Thursday night) off the boat each week to turnaround, do their washing and ironing etc ready for the next day as they are back onboard on Friday, so I would say that them not being there on the Thursday night is probably fair enough. We were given the use of 4 rooms for the day between 20 of us for the Friday, to store bags, have a shower etc till we were picked up, which also included free wifi in the cafe area. All exactly as we had been told would be arranged when we booked. We had a couple of accidents on board the boat that week and as a vet I had cause to explore their first aid kits quite extensively and couldn't believe how well equipped they were, to the point that you could of performed minor stitch ups quite easily if you had a doctor/nurse/vet on board. We had a fairly serious wound on a lady and we had plenty of kit to repair and bandage this wound over a three day period as well as three different types of antibiotics to choose from. All much better than I had expected, I had a fairly extensive first aid kit of my own with me which I never needed to use. We also had to have a fellow passenger picked up off the boat due to a pre-existing medical condition which flared up, which was all arranged and taken care of by a high speed RIB with doctor on board that collected the passenger within about 30 minutes (we were at anchor just near Ras Mohammed at the time)... Better than emergency services in the UK I would say! With regard to the tip situation it is true that we were given guidance both on the Blue O Two site and by the guides as to the amount recommended for the crew, they did let us know that of course it was optional and that the tip for the guides was also up to us. It was all done via a covered envelope arrangement so you were under no pressure to show what you were putting in. I think in a country without minimum wages you have to accept that the crew would be quite reliant on their wages being topped up by tips, not unusual in any country like this in my experience, and it certainly means they work hard to help you out all week, we in fact gave more than the recommended as we thought the service was excellent! All in all a rilliant experience and I can't wait to book the next trip!

The sea view from sea side rooms is really charming , the hotel's beach is splended with an artificial island infront of it that you can reach via a wooden bridge, rooms have a lot of space, the main Resturant offers a good variety of foods and there is a separate Italian restaurant, the hotel is located on the so called (tourists passage),it is so nice for a relaxing walk at night, all water sports are availabe at the beach, also snorkeling and diving trips
