“best hotel ever”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 2, 2013

We have just returned from the sahl hasheesh, the hotel was fabulous, clean and bright and the decor was amazing. The rooms were modern spotlessly clean with lots of space and really comfy beds. The food was excellent, there was plenty choice and it was displayed to make it look really appetizing, The staff were wonderful too, really attentive and nothing was too much trouble, they did everything they could to make it an enjoyable and memorable stay. The beach was clean, if a little windy, but it was february after all, there were plenty loungers available and never any overcrowding. The whole experience gave a feeling of calm and restful peace. We will certainly be going backl at the first opportunity.

Room Tip: We asked for an upper room with a sunny balcony overlooking the pool, it was really nice to sit on t...

Recently stayed at the Tropital over new year, absoultely loved the hotel and the staff made it so pleasurable.
Hassan (Andy Cole) sunbeds, an absolute gentleman.
Ahmed (pool bar man) v good
Mumo (hotel bar) v good
Mido (Animation leader) fantastic enthusiasm, well done, you are wasted at the Tropital.
Fekry (Restaurant) excellent
Hany (Restaurant) excellent

There were lots more but the above stood out a country mile for customer service, wow.

Hotel manager (at the time of the holiday)...absolutely fantastic, couldn't do enough for us, especially when we had an issue with the Gala Dinner because non of the hotel restaurants were being opened the evening that took place, even though we were all-inclusive.

We did not let this spoil our holiday as we met some wonderful people, especially Jim/Zina and Tom/ Hayley.

So dissapointed when we came home and our travel company A1travel would not reimburse the cost of the Gala dinner we had to pay for to ensure we ate that evening.
"In my opinion" the hotel manager must suffer from some form of memory loss and have a Jekyl and Hyde complex because he has suddenly stated that the hotel did provide dinner for all the guests that did not attend the Gala Dinner.
There must have been a secret packed lunch that we were not made aware of and the table must have been on the beech because there were certainly no restaurants open that night.
Bitterly dissapointed in the hotel manager, he was great to our face and kept asking us to put honest comments on trip advisor, which i am doing...

The hotel had lots of different nationalities and everyone seemd to mix, yes...even the Russians.

Fantastic holiday and didn't let the Gala Dinner /Closed Restaurants spoil what was a great holiday.

Hotel great, staff excellent,
Hotel manager.... not to be trusted because "in my opinion" he has two faces, so beware.

We stayed in his hotel in May 2012 for a week. I think it had opened in Nov of the previous year. It's a beautiful hotel, very luxurious, but quite a drive from the airport.
Food was great although it was quiet in the hotel.
The Mexican restaurant was fab and we were lucky enough to go twice as the hotel was so quiet.
If you want a relaxing holiday with great service you won't be disappointed.

5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 21, 2013

We are returning guests and enjoyed the place yet again. We are looking to go again, without hesitation. We stayed in February for a week and the weather was absolutely lovely compared to the icy spell in the UK. A few days were a little windy but temperatures still in the upper 20's with plenty of sunshine. There are some very good descriptive summaries of the place, in well written reviews, so I'll keep mine short.

I know that these reviews are about the hotel but I feel Thomas Cook deserve a special mention. As regular travellers, we were disappointed at the cattle-class cabin of the Boeing 757/200 they use. The room per seat was the absolute minimum, and I'd imagine, bordering on cruelty for larger people. The flight out is 5 hours and returning against the trade winds, it is nearer to 6. That's not far short of long-haul surely but we've travelled on far more comfortable aircraft on much shorter flights. On arrival at Hurghada airport, we were clearly instructed on the plane, to complete the entry form and have £15 per person ready. This is nothing new to us as we go to plenty of places that have a small fee to enter/leave etc. We did however notice that it was £15 this year and not £13. We were specifically told that we must go to the Thomas Cook desk to get our visa and pay our fee. Interestingly, we joined the queue but got waved to a desk that was just opening and only paid £13 each. Mmmm... more interesting was that when we spoke to others thay said that the visa varied between £10 and up to £16, that a couple with Thompson paid. I'm not sure what is going on here but you make your own mind up and don't trust everything people tell you!

We were welcomed back by many of the staff who remembered us and we enjoyed a week of good food/drink in lovely surroundings. The food is beautifully presented and for Valentine Day, the displays were too good to eat! The pride in quality and presentation is excellent with the chefs often in the restaurant, advising guests on dishes or encouraging people to try different things. We did however notice some guests were unable to dress properly for dinner. There seems to be a very casual restaurant dress code...

Mr George made a point of coming to speak with us (to thank us for returning and check all was ok) and we were also introduced later to Mr Yoursy, the General Manager, by Mr Hussainy.

We did notice many improvements since we were last there. The Mexican and Italian restaurant menus were better, the gardens were getting established and the completed gym/spa was now indoors. We didn't use the gym simply because it was through the spa. Without being too unkind here, the spa staff still regularly latch onto people with offers of special price treatments. Our exercise for the day was avoiding them.

The shops to the rear of the lobby bar are now complete too and have some decent quality genuine fakes if that's what you want. The staff here are not pushy and are friendly as well as interesting to talk to. There is now a regular trip into Hurghada for the hustle and bustle of the shops or the bars and so on.

A special mention goes to Mr Hussainy. His warmth and friendship makes guests very welcome. All staff are extremely keen to look after you and many speak enough English to hold interesting conversation. There are too many staff to remember or mention but special thanks to Mina at the lobby bar. He was exceptional with his hospitality. Once he'd got to know you, he would only have to look over to catch your signal and he'd have your drinks prepared. He got very busy at times but coped very well. He had help from a very friendly Bahaa who did his best robot (Peter Crouch type thing) to amuse younger guests. Mina made beautifully presented milky coffee with patterns drawn in the froth. Incidently, the lobby bar is a smoking area. I'm not sure it was intended as such but many guests just seem to do their own thing here. Clientelle will change from one week to the next but we noticed some unruly children. Some of their parents were not much better and very unfriendly, although the majority of guests are mature, sensible and friendly...

Sayed at the pool bar deserves a mention too. He was very good looking after us and so too was Fekry at breakfast time. Silke at Customer relations was very pleasant and efficient with any requests from guests. We enjoyed our time here thanks to the great staff.

The evening entertainment still needs attention and we didn't see much of the animation team. If you were joining in with activities they'd speak to you. Only 2 of the girls bothered to intoduce themselves, along with the tall lad from Tunisia. Some of the others would walk past you looking like they had more important places to be...

Many reviews focus on hotel ratings. Hotels get stars for the facilities NOT their quality and so on. This is a 5* hotel and has the appropriate conference suites, spa, restaurants and so on, to make it such. It is a very pleasant building but a little plain in places. If you want fabulous luxury fixtures and fittings then other hotels might be better for you at the extra cost. If you want golden sands then other beaches might be better but we think the total package of this hotel is excellent value for money. The rooms are a good standard and size, the food is lovely and the staff are great.

For those of you who are worried by the troubles reported in Egypt, you don't need to worry. It's like being worried about going to The Lakes when there's trouble in London. What are you waiting for? Just go, I don't think you'll regret it and you'll probably have a great time...

We stayed at the TSH as a couple for the first couple of weeks in February and had a great holiday.

By far the biggest asset to the hotel is its staff - a great team in all areas. Nothing too much trouble and a great effort to give quick, efficent service with a smile. Animation team also really friendly. Tips not expected but greatly recieved.

The bedroom and bathroom was as good and big as you will find anywhere.

Pools and beach area (free towels) were well maintained and cared for - as were the gardens.

You could also hire a bike for a couple of hours a day or enjoy a walk along the 'promanade' that runs the entireity of the resort (a lot of unfinished hotels at the moment). Nice little resort centre.

Sadly, the hotel still lacks a jetty (due anytime!!) into the sea and the coral. Water is crystal clear adjacent to the beach - really beautiful. Sea shoes required!

We found the food in the AI resturant very good (always fresh, hot, varied and presented well) and the Mexican and Italian were also excellent (no Indian yet)

Unfortunately, the only downside of the hotel was the contingent of Russian guests and their children. Bad mannered, loud, greedy and uncaring of others. Disgraceful and a shame a minority of guests effect others enjoying their holiday.

Overall, go and enjoy - you will not regret choosing the TSH.

Any questions please drop me a line.

Kurt

We stayed for a week at the Tropitel and had the best ever service from staff - especially Mahmoud and Ibrahim the concierges and young Ahmed in the lobby bar.
Room - great sea view and due to an issue on our first night with our room not being suitable for 3 people we were then upgraded to a suite for the remainder of our stay. Probably the largest and most spacious hotel room I've ever had but let down a little by missing light fittings and poor finishing of paintwork/tiling etc.
Cleanliness/housekeeping - excellent and very good attention to detail by Rami, who also made our 5 yr old son some funny towel animals each day.
Pool - brilliant pool (one was heated but the one by the pool bar wasn't - which was disappointing in Feb). Nice pool bar also arrived snacks although some extremely rude Russian guests kept barging past everyone else to snatch creeps rather than wait their turn!
Beach - disappointing as difficult to access the sea for swimming despite the hotel providing (tatty) beach shows for you to use. If you are a beach and sea lover I suggest you book a different hotel to avoid disappointment.
Food/drink - buffet had good choices but not as much fresh fruit as we'd have liked to see. Desserts very Egyptian in style (sweet and coconut) but decent choice. Do try the Italian (il pomodoro) as great food and a lovely manager. Mexican has a good manager too (Ali) who was very friendly but food choices were limited.
Overall - good hotel for a week. We went during a very quiet period where there were more staff than guests so it was good but I don't think the buffet restaurant would cope when the hotel is full. If you want great service from the staff and don't mind Russians then this is a good hotel. Personally we prefer a more cosmopolitan mix of guests so would probably choose elsewhere.

As honeymooners we studied alot of places and we agreed to go to Sahl Hasheesh for some quiet time;
Thats what happened:
1) the bus drive is really tiring so i recommend the plane
2) when reserving the room try going as far as u can from the reception, starting 7 PM there is an ongoing live music till 10 PM and the sound is TOO loud
3) the staff are really nice and friendly
4) the food is not my favorite thing at all, ive had so much better,

So to sum it up, the hotel is amazing but the room choice not so much
