“5star decor, 3.5 star service”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 3, 2013

I went with some friends in Nov 2013. We booked a ''swim up'' family room (1 double and 2 single beds). On the face of it, the hotel looks fabulous. I reckon there was max 20% occupancy when we were there and so I dread to think what it is like in peak season. The amenities and decor were fantastic and all very clean with pristine gardens and pools (not all of them heated). We were approached at least 8 times per day when we were at the pool for spa, mani/pedi, snorkelling, diving, more spas, camel rides etc etc. We did take the 4 day egyptian spa treatment which provided you haggle is a nice experience but not sure it was great VFM. I was not aware but we were originally only allowed 4 a la carte meals (meaning the other 3 would be in the buffet restaurant) but during the short transfer from the airport our rep said we had 7 nights a la carte. The food in the buffet restaurant was good and varied and the layout was excellent for a mass scale restaurant with good quality furnishings inside and out. The fish restaurant was a disappointment. We complained that the sea bass was most certainly not sea bass - so why purport to have it? The same with the bouillabaisse (however you spell it :) ). The manager was excellent in handling our complaint and took it upon himself to book the next few days meals for us. Next was the lebanese - another disappointment…. starters were ok - not as good as a traditional lebanese. The Shish tawouk (chicken kebabs) were not like i had tasted before…. as though they had been casseroled but the meat was fatty and not like the bbq'd white meat I was ordinarily used to. The italian was surprisingly good despite all the negative comments I had seen on trip advisor - i had tomato and mozzarella which although was not real mozzarella was tasty with the basil pesto. The chicken breast and mushroom risotto was really good. However, by far the best was the asian restaurant - excellent service and the food was fantastic. Its worth paying £11 extra per head to have the tepanyaki as it is entertaining to watch and the quality of the meat is superb. The service in the rest of the hotel was mediocre - lots of staff but no-one in any rush to serve you. We only went to 1 evenings entertainment which was the dance acts from around the world - don't bother - it was not entertaining in the slightest. It seemed like everyone was there as there was nothing else to do. Around the hotel there are some really nice places to sit and drink coffee or cocktails - but I think the tranquility only exists in low season - it would be good to check a review from a high season holiday. In all - it was a great place to chill out and the weather was just right at that time of year. I have rated the hotel very good as it was above average but not fantastic.

Room Tip: ask for a ground floor room.

Had a week here beginning of November and a great time despite travelling with Thomson's. The hotel was only about 30% full so my review is based on this, I do think the review would be very different if the hotel was running at 100%.

The hotel is Huge and was stunning, great pools, gardens, bars and décor, it really looks like the pictures. Our bedroom was very large with 3 double wardrobes (not enough hangers tho). Big bathroom with separate loo. I cannot fault the facilities, restraints, food or drink, they were excellent. Ate in the Italian Al la cart and the Lebanese a couple of times and both were great with a good range of items on the menu, service and staff were 5 star.

As the hotel was not full it was very easy to find a nice quiet spot to sunbath or read, there were always spaces in the bars and no queues in the main buffet restaurant, again the food was first class. The beach bar offers good food at lunch time (slightly better than the pool bar).

I would have given this 5/5, but there were a few small things that added up to only giving 4, these may be minor, but in a hotel that has more staff then guests, I would expect things to be a bit better, getting the drinks wrong when there are only 4 people in the bar, us being 2 of them, the waiter forgetting about us in another bar, also the room cleaner could have been better, I had to ask for shower gel, loo roll, tissues, at reception one evening as they just weren't replenished as they started to run out. We didnt get our free water for a couple of days so I thought the water in the fridge was the free water and drank it because we didn't have anything else in the room, they then tried to charge me for it, I could not get any money changed to get a taxi into Hurghada as the machine was broken and they never have any money on reception. Also the free transfer bus to Hurghada had been cancelled despite still being advertised on their web page.

I know these are minor issues ,, so I wont go on,,,,

Hurghada at the moment is very quiet, please be advised that if you take a taxi, ENSURE YOU HAVE THE CORRECT MONEY READY,,, A taxi to the marina 50LE. I have been travelling to Egypt for many years and this is the first time a taxi driver has tried to relieve me of some money,, and the first time I have had to get out of a taxi and walk away,, so BEWARE, make sure you know the value of your notes.

The Marina was very nice, we had a really good meal and night out. Also visited the Senzo mall, some nice shops (taxi 20LE)

There are a lot of shops selling the usual stuff around the hotel within walking distance. Not sure if it is just Hurghada, but did encounter a bit of hostility, was in a bit of a hurry and didn't want to go into a shop or get into a length chat, was very pleasant and polite at saying no thank you (even in Arabic) and the guy launched into a barrage of swearing at us.. it was really uncalled for. This is certainly the first time I have ever encountered something like this in Egypt.

In summary.. I would go back to the hotel again (we did get a good deal), probably wouldn't go out into Hurghada again, I wasn't very impressed (prefer Sharm). P.S The snorkelling is not very good !!!!

The hotel is very excellent, would organise a private transfer next time as the Thomson fiasco is like cattle herding....

We stayed 22-29th November with Thomson's and thoroughly enjoyed it. It surpassed our expectations relative to what we had paid.
The hotel is large with numerous pools, bars and restaurants to choose from. The food is varied and good quality so you shouldn't struggle to find something to your taste. The drinks available allow plenty of choice too. The staff on site were all in our experience very helpful, friendly and pleasant. Tips were accepted but not expected but they deserve them as they work hard to make the holiday a great experience for you.
Rooms were very spacious and well finished and kept very clean with wonderful towel art thrown in daily. This describes the hotel and grounds generally, very clean and a quality finish. Plenty to do if you want and great to relax too. Overall a great hotel and holiday with nice weather the perfect tonic for the English weather ahead. What more could you ask for?

Room Tip: We stayed in the 3000's well located between beach and main reception

We had a wonderful week here in brilliant sunshine, what more could you ask for? As per previous reviews it's the staff that make this establishment such an amazing holiday. The Egyptian hospitality is second to none. We were made to feel very special.
We needed a relaxing chill out week and that's exactly what was delivered, but there's lots on offer too from the animation team and the aqua parks if that's what you want from a holiday.
Food - always an abundant selection to suit all in the main resteraunt plus a la cartes at no extra cost.
Pools - more than enough choice for aqua gym or relaxation. The main pool is heated as were x 2 pools in the quiet area.
Rooms - large and immaculately clean, toiletries supplied in the spacious bathroom and most importantly for us, a tea/coffee tray & kettle! Free use of the safe. A complimantary bottle of coke and sprite is ready for you in the room along with your bottled water (replenished daily) however the minibar is chargeable. Thank you Ahmed - room 3144.
We work hard for our holidays and the hotel works hard to ensure you have everything you need. We have holidayed in Egypt previously but this is the best by far.
There are lots of choices out there for your precious time away and we like to try different areas/hotels but we will definitely be returning. The sooner the better!

We stayed 22-29 Nov and the hotel was only a quarter full. Would not like to go when fully occupied, as would be too busy.
It is a lovely place and the lobby and bar next to it are very luxurious.
There were mainly Germans, along with Russians, Polish and Belgians.
The food was fine. We preferred the a la carte restaurants. Tried them all and all were very good.
Majority of the staff were friendly. Found that a lack of English was spoken though.
I think that Thomson seem to give free upgrades to superior family rooms to most guests. Very big with a huge firm bed. So much storage space. Borrowed travel plugs from house keeping. Irons and boards also available. Like to watch tv, which was a decent flat screen with a couple of great movie channels.
The pools were fab, two were heated. Bar service could have been a bit better. The drinks were fine.
Weather was 30 degrees, but not a baking heat, it was tolerable. Some nights were a bit cool, so bought a pashmina from the shop onsite.
The only letdown was the beach, but I had read the reviews, so was expecting it. Walked half a mile out to the neighbouring hotels jetty and snorkelled there. Husband took a boiled egg and the fish swarmed him.
The slides were great fun.
All in all we got what we went for - a lovely relaxing, chilled time in the sun and can see why people return.

I visited this hotel from 18 November - 25 November 2013 with my best mate.

Firstly, please note that you must buy a visa when you get to Hurghada airport which costs about 13 pounds.

We travelled with Thomsons and I must say that it was a true pleasure travelling with them. Everything was taken care of and Sayed our holiday rep was charming and very informative and helpful. On arrival the staff were so welcoming and friendly, and very easy check in. The actual hotel (which is now called Jaz not Iberotel) is huge! 18 swimming pools, up to 5 restaurants and loads of beautiful grounds. The hotel is immaculate and have been looked after so well. The staff work so hard to keep the grounds clean. Every member of staff was friendly and went out of their way to assist. A few staff members I want to mention are the Breakfast staff team in the main restaurant, Mahmud in the lobby area, Mustafa, Mohammed and the Animation Team. A big thank you to Kano and Mando for always being soo friendly and keeping a fun vibe. The room was standard, very clean and spacious. The housekeeping were amazing - they always left some beautiful tower art for us! We went on an all-inclusive deal, this was my time having that deal and it was so cost effective. WE have unlimited drinks and food. The cocktails were great. The food was good and not repetitive. my fav restaurant was Sofra which is a Lebanese. There is also a Italian, Asian Fusion, Sea Food etc. The hotel has a Spa facility with is great - big thank you to Ahmed and Alaa for making us feel so welcome. Me and my friend had 2 massages by Yara and Aria they gave the best massages EVER! The slides near the beaches are a great touch and is fun for family. The hotel overall is very family friendly and also for couples - its for anyone really. We didn’t venture out of the hotel because we came to just relax and soak up some sun but there are a lot of bazaars and a city centre nearby. The Assistant Manager for the Hotel would often speak to the guests to ask if they were happy with the service and ask for suggestions to help improve the service which I thought was great touch. My only downside was - THE BEACH. it was not a real sandy beach - very limited sand and the sea was more coral so you couldn't actually see clear water at the surface which was a shame.
I recommend this hotel if you want a relaxing getaway with loads of sunshine and the best customer service ever.

( you won't get enough of the Opa Opa Song :) )

Room Tip: Lower ground so your closer to the pool and can egt a good spot to sunbathe as it does get busy quic...
