“Verry nice”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 1, 2013

For my first time in Egypt, we went to this hotel in Hurghada. Verry nice hotel, with friendly staff! Food was good, room was clean, so nothing bad to say!

At the beach we found a nice guy also who offers trips (Sasha). I recommend to everyone who want to see more of Egypt, to go to the beach, at the left side, to the Amees Aqua Center, (most of the time there is a camel in front of it) and ask for Sasha! The prices are verry good, and you can trust him for every trip or a tour into the old center! We went snorkling, saw Paradise Island, the old town of Hurghada, went on safari and rided horses in the dessert! You can't miss those things!

It was a verry nice vacation!

Room Tip: We had a superior room with 2 separeted beds in front of the swimming pool, verry nice!

This is a Family Resort by all means , Had an excellent long vacation there ( 1 Week ) and i was ready to stay more . In This Hotel you never think of where you eat or what you eat , with the all inclusive deal , u get food all the time . Room was very good and they had a nice bedding for everyone including Kids ,

Food Quality was ok , just ok nothing more :) , Drinks was Tang and not Fresh Juices ,
Breakfast was just ok again , no extra choices just basic and massive amounts .

Beach was nice compared to others in Hurghada , although its not the best but i consider it just good . Animation was not as good as others as well , Kids Show was good at night and the Anime Characters walking around was fun for kids .

Room Tip: Pool View , Near to Lobby and Rest . Get Something in the 31XX , 1st floor to get the view , or g...

Stayed in November 2012. Weather was perfect, approx 30degrees every day, although daylight hours are shorter so starts to feel colder around 4pm.
The hotel is stunning, beautiful grounds with constant cleaning. It was perfect for our 2 year old, she loved seeing the animations team- clowns making balloon animals, magicians, stuffed animals etc. the kids splash pool was a hit, but wasn't heated, and only a couple of the main pools were heated, but still so much choice with the swimming pools.

Room: We liked that our room had a separate room for our daughter so that when she was asleep, we could still be up on the balcony and not disturb her. The tiled floor did get very slippy in the room, and we saw plenty people fall over on the slippy floors by the pools. No complaints about the room and I'm very fussy!

Food: The main buffet restaurant was pretty manic, the other one further round to the spa was much quieter. It had a ridiculous amount of choice and was better than I expected. We loved the a la carte restaurants, in particular the Lebanese which was fantastic!
The pool bar serves burgers, pizzas, pasta etc- would recommend the koftas, so we tended to eat there rather than the crazy canteen Buffett area. I'd recommend booking in to the a la cartes as often as you can.
Staff in general are great, so amazing with children, they go out of their way to entertain children, and no child is seen as a burden as often is the case in UK restaurants! We did come across one consistently rude bar manager of the main foyer bar, but other than that, everyone went out of their way to look after us.

The kids disco was perfect for our 2 year old, the animation team run it in pretty much every European language except English which is kinda nice! The evenings entertainment is 80s-tastic: totally stuck in a time warp, I kept expecting baby to appear from her corner any minute. But the cheesyness and questionable dance skills make it all the more entertaining-worth a watch.

The beach didn't have much going for it, very shallow water, but the camel was a big hit, especially when our daughter got to feed him bananas she pinched at brekkie.

The one downside was the big sell that EVERYONE was trying to do- photo shoot company, Bedouin camps, the spa, the water sports: they come round every day throughout the day with their brochures to get you to sign up to their 'special deals'. If you accept it's going to happen and just pretend you've already done it, then they stop pestering you.

We did the photo shoot as we wanted a nice family snap, but our wee one wasn't playing ball, and the guy didn't have much patience when she couldn't smile on cue. It ended up in a bit of a soft porn style shoot as he had us posing in the sea in various positions. Not quite the family pics we had in mind...cringe....
We also went to swim with dolphins- we were the only ones there which was fantastic, but the pool area very small.
The other amazing thing was the guy writing names in 10secs out of Egyptian charachters.

There wasn't much right near to the hotel i.e. within walking distance, the few shops weren't all that great, but we didn't venture further afield for shopping. But you could venture out on trips to see more of Egypt straight from the hotel, although it was difficult to find out what if you were English speaking as everything tended to be in German or Swedish. We found it strange though, that we were about the only British people there, yet the waiters all had to speak to the other Europeans in English.

Anyway. All in all, a fantastic holiday, it's just a shame we can't get there direct from edinburgh otherwise we would consider it again (and I HATE going to the same place twice)
I would definitely recommend it to friends as well.

Room Tip: We didn't specify a family room, but check you're getting one as totally worth it!

Quite simply the best hotel we've ever stayed in.Let's start with location, simply perfect, only 20 minutes from the airport so easy to reach, but far enough away so that there is absolutely zero air traffic noise.Hotel also has its own private beach which is a short walk along the 2 main large pools and right by the superb waterpark.beach clean, water clean and shallow, waist height for about 100 metres so ideal for children.
Our room was spacious, clean and had a fantastic power shower and a balcony overlooking the pool. The room was cleaned everyday with fresh towels for the bathroom and a daily towel sculpture on the bed.
If you're a pool lover you'll love this hotel with 18 to choose from, although in reality it's 3 really large interconnecting pools. The main pool near the reception tended to be more noisy with music and pool activities, ideal for youngsters and children. We however preferred the adjacent 2nd large interconnecting pool with plastic pool loungers around the edge of the pool,in march it was a bit too windy for these although I did try out on one occasion, and in the full heat of the summer I'd imagine they'd be perfect. This pool is peaceful ideal for couples wanting to simply chill.Pool bar also serves a wonderful green gin based cocktail which you've simply got to try.

The food is wonderful with a superb choice of fayre and restaurants. The main restaurant, topaz, has a wonderful choice of food but gets a bit busy in the mornings and in the evening,so for that reason we preferred to have our breakfast and evening meal in the 4 corners restaurant. The choice is fabulous and everyone should find food to suit their liking. There are also 4 pre-bookable restaurants, ginger Asian,la rocca Italian, zaytouna Lebanese and sennara serving fish specialties. You can pre-book any of these restaurants once during your holiday on 2 touch screen computers either side of the reception. We chose Ginger the Asian restaurant and the food was superb, freshly cooked in front of you on a large hot plate. We had sweet and sour chicken with noodles, superb.

As for the bars there are 2 main bars fayrouz just off the main reception and waves around the corner from the 4 corners restaurant, along with 3 pool bars and an outside lobby bar.Fayrouz is a relaxing place to drink with plenty of comfortable chairs and sofas with fantastic blue glass chandeliers which unsurprisingly my wife nicknamed the blue bar.Waves is a smaller more intimate bar again with plenty of comfy sofas.Whichever bar you chose you have to try the cocktails, when you go out for your evening meal you'll see them all pre-made out on tables in the lobby bar and main fayrouz bar, they're all superb and all part of the all inclusive.

Finally all the staff are superb friendly and polite, spare a thought for them they work such long hours so be polite.

You must book the trip to Karnak and the valley of the kings, very tiring 5am pick up,returning at 10pm,but a once in a lifetime must see.take a hat, water a comfy pair of shoes and a camera.

In short the best holiday we've been on.

we were in this hotel two weeks ago. Wery big, but nice hotel with 18 swimming pools and many children areas. Food was good, with AI you don`t need any more to buy.
Swimming in the red sea is by the hotel not posible. The water is only 25 cm deep. You must go to the next hotels. Room sar big and clean.

Room Tip: rooms with the wiev to pools are better.

4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 27, 2013

Just returned last night from the Iberotel Aquamarine in Hurghada Red Sea Egypt with my partner (no kids) after a 2 week holiday and we had a fantastic time.

it was a last minute booking after we got a good deal for the holiday and as it was our first time visiting Egypt we didn't quite know what to expect. The hotel is stated in the brochure as 5 star all inclusive resort and although I have not got a lot of experience with staying in 5 star hotels I must admit this hotel tries its best to attain that star rating but not quite getting there more like a 4 star plus in my opinion.

Firstly the flight is about 5 1/2 hrs a good idea is to bring a pen to fill out your visa paperwork and the £13 each you will need to pay for said visa at passport control to get into the country. Be very careful on the bus transfer from the plane to the terminal at Hurghada the drivers are reckless drive at speed swerve all over the place if you have elderly travelers or children with you try and get a seat ASAP or hang on for dear life as you are propelled at warp speed to the terminal building.

Nothing spectacular with the Airport like a cattle market processing your visas and checking passports. Be aware anyone doing anything for you expects a tip.

Bus transfer to hotel 20 mins, tip for driver to put your case on bus £1 per case.

Welcome and check in at hotel was spot on thanks to the manager Mohamed Hassan and his staff no queuing at reception but taken into a lounge given a cocktail given a warm welcoming speech presented with your mandatory wrist band and then escorted to your room while your cases are transferred by the porters tip £1 per case.

The Hotel is actually 2 hotels in one the Aquamarine (for us Brits, Russians etc) and Bluemarine (Germans and Europeans etc.) and its massive they share amenities like restaurant bars spa gym aqua parks etc and its got 18 pools from a lagoon pool near the beach to small tiny pools 10 feet square with shades over for toddlers. The grounds are immaculate and tended by an army of workers. You can go into either hotel to eat drink etc and I would say the Blue Marine is slightly newer and plusher but you have to put up with being in the minority if you go in there.

Our room number was 3226 on the 2nd floor was spacious with a balcony and good view over the Bluemarine side of the hotel 2 large wardrobes cupboards drawers and even if I would have brought 4 times as many belongings I would not have filled them. There was 2 queen size beds which where very comfortable. The bathroom was large with a walk in shower separate room for WC and bidet normally a novelty for us Brits but if you get ill and have Pharos revenge like I did it was a god send. The room had good airconditioning which could be left on while you are out so you can return to a cool room not like some hotels that you have to use the key card to keep the aircon going, TV but only BBC world news and CNN in English, tea and coffee (Nescaffe) making facilities including a bottle of water, coke and 7 up which are replenished daily, mini bar that's not all inclusive and are chargeable to your room and a free room safe which was a good freebie. The only slight quibble was that there was only 1 charging socket in the room so if you bring loads of electrical gadgets be prepared for some to die before you can recharge.

The hotel is very nice and well presented with most areas having polished marble like floor tiles in the bars restaurant public areas and around the swimming pools very pleasing on the eye but they can be very slippy particularly when wet so be warned wear suitable footwear, my partner had a few near do's at falling and I did see a few fellow guests with slip, trip and fall injuries.

There are loads of places to eat at various times of the day from the main restaurant in the Aquamarine and Bluemarine to the four corners restaurant and many of the bars serve snacks etc. There are 4 specialty restaurant Italian, Asian, Fish and Lebonise cuisines I have listed them in the order of my preference and you have to prebook these on computer terminals in reception. The only limitation is that you can only go once to the Italian during your stay as its so popular. There is a beach bar the Paridiso which also serves excellent food from 12 till 6 daily my favourite was the fish and chips really nice white fish fillets with light batter and herbs let Fathy and his excellent staff look after you.
A criticism with the main restaurant is its not best laid out for getting in and out with your meal with too many people its noisy and there are not enough entrances and exits it sometimes feels like a free for all a fellow guest described it as a chimps tea party and I agree we only ate there once and not again.

Next topic the food some other reviewers have criticize the food as bland and repetitive? I disagree the food is good and if you cant find anything you like you must be extremely picky and need to get a life.
Sure don't expect a full English breakfast but you are in Egypt and the beef bacon they serve is not a good substitute for a rasher.
The breakfast menu there is loads to choose from fruits, dried fruits, porridge, rice pudding, about 10 different yoghurts, boiled eggs, fried eggs, omellets freshly made with what you want in them, pattisseries, cake, choice of jams, croissant, cold meats, cheeses, salad (who wants salad for breakfast?), loads of hot items and the list goes on. Particular highlights for me where the grilled tomatoes with cheese and herbs, the selection of breads my favourite being a brown nutty seeded uncut loaf, tasty boiled eggs and maderia cake with nutella spread on and oh the butter is Lurpack and coffee is nescaffe.
The main evening meal food has various themes on different nights of the week and there is loads to choose from a good selection even for vegetarian.

I used the gym most days its not very big but adequate the machines are well maintained and the place is very clean and there is a permanent trainer there all day from 7.30am till 9.00pm. Mohammed will be only to happy to help you and give you advice on using the equipment and stretching exercises to cool down.

During the day you can join in the many activities presented by the animation team water aerobics, keep fit, volleyball, waterpolo there is lots to do for you or the kids. Or like me go down to the lagoon pool near the beach with a book, sun and drink on hand for a relaxing time.

I must admit I didn't see much of the night entertainment as its not my thing but there was plenty going on from shows to belly dancers and live music etc.

The all inclusive drinks are a bit hit and miss the cocktails are too sweet with hardly any alcohol ask for more of a measure and go to the bar instead of ordering through a waiter that tends to help. The beer is not too bad but I couldn't see me drinking it for too long as I always ended up with indegestion.

Only time we ventured out of the resort was to the Pharmacy which is just outside the Bluemarine entrance to the right and we went on a snorkling trip one day I just wish we had upgraded to the luxury boat the snorkling experience was truly amazing but you do spend alot of the time on the boat.

We found all the staff extremely friendly, courteous and asking if everything was OK and if it wasn't they would sort it.
A big shout out to Ahmed the manager of the Waves bar where we drank at night and Hassum the best waiter in the resort who looked after the many guests and kept the drinks flowing he well deserved his tip.

Now for the niggles the accommodation block we stayed in was undergoing some building work on the ground floor so during the day to get to our room we had to walk through the building site to get to the stairs with building rubble all over and cable extensions in the walkway etc. I know that the hotel strives to make improvements but they could have assigned a cleaner to keep the area clean and safer during the day while the work was being done instead of leaving the cleaning up till the end of the day.

Also they have just started to build a new aqua park on the beach near to where I liked to go sunbathing during the day. They have fenced and screened off the area but the excavators are at work and its noisy and smells of diesel fumes.

Also as mentioned before us Brits where in the minority at the resort and generally I don't have a problem with foreigners but I did have a few instances with loosing my rag at ignorant guests
An irate Russian who was complaining about the amount of vodka in his drink thought it was a good idea to barge to the front of the cue at the Paradisio beach bar and barracking the barman seems some guests forget to pack their manners when they go on holiday.

The resort has its own clinic with a doctor and I did have the need to go there when I was ill they sorted me out with a drip to rehydrate me and medicines to make me better they sort all your papwork out for the health insurance it was a good level of care as my partner is a nurse and she was keeping an eye on my treatment.

In conclusion it is a good hotel with great surroundings lovely pools freindly staff descent food and I would return there to take another holiday in the future.

Stayed here in March with my husband and 3 year old, weather was beautiful (30 degrees every day). This hotel is just beautiful, rooms are nicely furnished, we had a family room with separate children's room.

The swimming pools are amazing, there are 18 pools in total, 4 pools with slides, 2 for younger children and 2 for 10 year olds plus, we couldn't get my son off them! The heated pools were a lovely temperature. All pools had lifeguard supervision and the slide areas were safely controlled by staff which was good to see.

There are a couple of playgrounds too which are great for little ones.

Everywhere is spotlessly clean, they are always maintaining the place and it looks like its brand new. The staff are very attentive and will do anything to please.

The food in the main restaurant can be a little strange and clearly desserts and fruit don't feature high on their priorities! Breakfast is good - make sure you try the omelettes and pancakes! The seafood restaurant is absolutely first class - the sort of meal you would pay a lot of money for! Once we found it we ate there most nights! The Italian restaurant is considered to be their premium restaurant but it really wasn't in the same league as the fish restaurant and the service there was poor. There were a good variety of poolside restaurants for lunchtime snacks.

Drinks were local brands but all cocktails were freshly made and the mojitos were amazing!!

Not much outside the hotel, we only ventured out to the chemist when we got egyptian tummy, which I think is inevitable. Make sure you buy their medicine from the chemist at the first sign of onset and you will soon recover.

Absolutely amazing family holiday, although I think Iapg would be too hot during the summer months.
