Our family of 4 returned on the 22nd July 2013, kids age 8 and 13. This hotel has almost got it (for the British that is). We are seriously out numbered and because of this, not catered for as well as our European friends. Our gripes are just that, not big deals but if they make some small changes it would make the difference. Breakfast, it's manic, a lot of people need a lesson in manners which is annoying and beyond the hotels control but very irritating first thing in the morning before your first coffee. Which leads me onto the very poor American filter coffee they serve at breakfast. Now when a hotel boast (and rightly so) that they have a competition going on with Costa as to who does the best coffee, they really need to deliver in the dining halls/restaurants too. For a decent coffee we went to reception for our morning fix, but this was after breakfast!! They have 2 other coffee shops too that are equally as good. Juice, this is watered down - WHY, its a 4 star hotel, don't skimp on this, do it properly. Milk, it's not kept cold and room temp milk on your cereal is not nice and the kids weren't amused, again it's the little things, get them right. British breakfast, we are good all year and eat a proper healthy breakfast everyday, your holiday is a time to treat yourself to a 'fry-up', not here it's not. They cater for the European breakfasts, but not our typical British breakfast and on holiday this matters, well to us anyway. You will not find a sausage as we Brits know it, no bacon at all or, mushrooms, beans, tomatoes, There is however an abundance of eggs cooked fresh to your requirements. This sounds picky given the choice they provide at breakfast, so if your not bothered about this then you will enjoy the selection. Beer in very small paper cups through the day, did not go down well with my husband, neither did the very small glasses on a evening. He was getting 4 paper cups at a time and it still didn't make a pint, a little annoying, backwards and forwards for drinks was not good. Lunch and evening meals very nice but repeated as similar dishes every day and night. We did the rounds of all the restaurants most night to see what took our fancy, but again not quite there, but we did not struggle to find food we liked, but we like most food.(we like our food can you tell!!!) We never struggled for a table as some other reviews have mentioned, but there were a few comments about it being quiet when we were there. Would hate to see it busy mind. Finally access to the private beach at the sister hotel. Don't bother, its awful. Sand is baked hard and like builders sand, limited access, and just not a nice place to spend any time. We got on the next shuttle bus back to the hotel. If you want a beach holiday this hotel is not for you, in fact I'd go as far as to say Hurghada isn't. This may sound like a huge list of 'gripes' but its not really, just things we would like to see them improve on. You can take it from us that everything else about this very large hotel was spot on.
