we are a young scandinavian couple
we stayed there for a week in the beginning of Feb 2010.
before we went to this hotel which is rated 4 star we were told that because of low standard in Egyptian hotels we could take one star off so we expected not more then 3-4 star hotel. so we went there very open minded. which is the best way to do when traveling :)
First impression of the Hotel is good, large spacious lobby with polite and smiling lobby staff.
the room we got was facing construction site, which is not uncommon in Egypt now, bare to mind that only 20 years ago, Hurghada was a small fishing village, so they are building up new hotels around the town.
The rooms are big, and the beds are ok. it has a small refrigerator, safety box, Tv, and a hairdryer. but it seems that the furniture material and doors are made out of some low standard material, as they were starting to look old and damaged. which is a shame is a good room.
one thing about the rooms, remember to bring toilet paper with you, as we got 1 role of paper 1st day and on the second day after we came from the beach they had cleaned the room, and made the beds, but they did not change or add another toilet role, so we were out of paper wery soon that day. but we got another one the day after ;)
the Hotel garden is good, not to big not to small, 3 pools, bar, and very clean. staff ok but specially the main pool guy he is great, so if you talk to him like a persons, he will return it somehow to you :)
beach is ok as well, they have a bar and some activities, the sand is rather rough (not like the sand in Spain for example)
Then to the food, we had the all inclusive package, which is brilliant when traveling. but the main restaurant is definitely trying to please the Russian guest at the hotel (which are ca 70% of the guests) not bad but not as we Scandinavians like it at least, but don´t get me wrong, we never walked hungry out of the restaurant, but things could be a bit different in the kitchen, dishes and glasses were always like they were dirty, or greasy.
in the lobby later on we found out that it was always packet with people, and often locals, Egyptians on a holiday. and yes it is allowed to smoke everywhere in Egypt ....
and the all inclusive part is not ALL inclusive, as after 23:00 we had to pay for our drinks.
overall the hotel is a good place to relax. at the beach or in the garden, but it takes some time to get to the town and costs 30-40 Egyptian pounds one way.
I think we were at all 8 Scandinavians at the hotel, the rest was (as I noticed) Russians, Polish, German, Egyptians
It was a great experience, but for my parts I would try to choose another hotel for my next visit, just to be able to communicate to other travelers.
