Large complex that has much to offer! Several restaurants, several pool areas with playground, ocean and beach adjacent to the pool areas, and delicious Mövenpick is included in the all inclusive. Best place to spend a week or two ;)

Movenpick El Gouna

We spent here 10 days. The resort is big, has many rooms and most of them have sea view.
There are two kinds of rooms, the renovated rooms and the dated rooms. The renovated rooms should be beautiful –I was not there- and the dated rooms are –indeed- dated. However, even these rooms are nice and the price per night is much lower.
It are relatively big rooms with a large bathroom with only a shower, no bath. Enough room for your cloth to store, a safe and room to store your suitcases. The TV is a very old one and small. There is a minibar. A disadvantage is, is the noise pollution. You hear everything your neighbors are doing and there is a ventilator in the service area how makes a lot of noise in the daytime, in the evening around 23.00 hours they turn it lower. The noise is then less but still there. Ask therefore a room as far away as possible from the service area, on the upper floor, and on a corner. Contact a week before you go there the PR manager and tell her what your needs are. Here e-mail address is: brigitte.gobran@moevenpick.com.
Moreover, she will meet your every wish.
The food is in buffet style. The quality is good and when you talk with the floor manager-cook, you even get your show cooking stuff the way you want it. For example: your steak rare and not well done. The quantity is less than a view years ago. It is obvious that the occupation is low.
The personal was to us very nice. They become even nicer when you give them a tip now and then. The wages are very low in Egypt, so every tip is more than welcome. Do not overdo this, but do it when you are satisfied.
There are many sport activities; all you can come up with is there. No reservation of the chair by the different swimming pools is aloud. Near the spa, area there is a heated swimming pool where you can rest without the noise of music. Unfortunately, there is every now and then a little nuisance of children.
There is system called “Dining around”. It gives you the opportunity to have dinner in a other restaurant in El Gouna without charge.
We did take our buffet meal in Steigenberger (2 times) and Sheraton. It is a nice system to experience the quality and quantity of the other hotels. We did stay in this hotels before, when you want to know our experience, see my reviews.
I also have a review about El Gouna.
What struck us was the large number of Egyptian guests in this time.

Room Tip: Ask a room as far as possible from the service area, on the second floor and on a corner.

I and my wife spent a honeymoon week in Mövenpick and it was absolutely amazing. We were supposed to see downtown El Gouna but ended up staying on the hotel grounds all week. The grounds are massive, filled with beautiful gardens, lagoons, pools, bridges, restaurants. There is a calm and privacy about the whole hotel that I have not experienced anywhere else. Whether we were on a short stroll or a long relaxed lunch we felt we had the whole place to ourselves. We are in our early 30's and we were looking for a place that would be calm, without hassle or too much party-going 20-somethings. This is exactly what we got.

And the food, oh my good, the food. Everything we tasted was fantastic. I did not expect to eat the best hamburgers and steaks I've ever tasted but that was just what I got here. The buffet tables, the desserts, everything perfect. And Egyptian white wine was a delight!

Some travellers are afraid of the "pharaoh's revenge" aka stomach problems due to different bacteria than home, so were we, but the entire hotel and especially the classy restaurants were so spotless and clean that there is absolutely nothing to be afraid of.

Our room was huge, facing the lagoon with a ground terrace that was relaxing to sit on. At closer look the lagoons looked a bit murky and I did not feel like i wanted to swim in them, but the excellent (heated) pools made up for that very well, especially since I like pools more than sea water anyway.

The staff was generally very friendly and helpful. We did have one bad experience with a pool bar waiter (the Lagoon pool) that seemed so friendly we gave him generous tips (about 50 euros in total) but when my wife went to eat in the restaurant by herself, that same waiter started suggesting secret meetings with her after dark (he said he had a key to some back room they could meet in after his shift finished and no one needed to no about what he would do to her), commanding her to sit where he could watch her and take her sunglasses off so he could see her eyes, asking her if she didn't have any feelings towards him and being obnoxious in general. My wife felt very uncomfortable about his behavior and we didn't eat at that restaurant after that.

Apart from this, however, everyone was friendly, considerate and nice, especially the polite young man at the reception and a very nice man at the Oasis pool bar.

All in all I would recommend Mövenpick to anyone, especially couples looking to relax, be amongst themselves, eat gorgeous food and have a great and romantic vacation. The hotel complex is so large and so beautiful you can spend a relaxing, slow-life week there without even once wanting to see the outside world. And some day we will definately be back.

Room Tip: Cluster 7 is excellent if you want to be alone but still close to one of the pools (and pool restaur...

Everything you could possibly want (except a bath, only a shower) Helpful staff, fabulous breakfast buffet, four restaurants for lunch and dinner, best is El Sayadin at the dive centre, huge beautiful grounds, charming restful looking buildings, several swimming pools and free shuttle to the nearby wonderful golf course. There is easy access to Downtown El Gouna and to the Marina. Cannot wait till next year1

Room Tip: Check that your cluster is not too far from the restaurant if you do not want a long walk to breakfa...

It was an excellent hotel in el Gouna. The rooms and everything except the front desk or the service was good. The service on the front desk wasn't that good. When the chocolate hour was on and it had 30 minutes left. There were no cups for the hot chocolate, so I went and told the front desk they told me wait five minutes and the waiter will get the cups. The five minutes turned to be 30 minutes and the chocolate hour was over. The waiter got a cup for me after it was over and they removed it and hot chocolate was a was almost empty. Other than that its an excellent hotel!

Myself and my daughter have just returned from a weeks holiday at the Movenpick, I have nothing but praise for this hotel. Our room in cluster 7, was lovely, clean and spacious. I loved the way the units all nicely set out with either a view of the lagoons, gardens or pools. We both really enjoyed the buffet breakfasts, there was a wonderful choice. The gardens were a delight, I loved walking around. But I think that the thing that impressed me most was the staff, they were all very polite, friendly and helpful. This hotel obviously has a very good program for staff training. I would certainly recommend staying at this hotel.
