My husband, cousin and I have just returned from a week in Dahab having chosen Le Meridien on recommendation of a family member who had visited in summer- we were not disappointed. After a busy year, we wanted a location to relax and recharge in. Le Meridien is the perfect location to do just that.
The rooms are spacious and the staff very friendly. The hotel was very quiet at the start of our stay however it felt much busier after Boxing Day. The service was very slow and reactive especially in the restaurants at the start, however that improved to fit in with the standard of the hotel. The management are very keen for feedback and definitely are quick to act upon it.
We were on a bed and breakfast package however, we had lunch daily at the hotel and two dinners. The food is disappointing - as vegetarians there was not much choice - only a handful of options on the buffet and a la carte menu had very few options. So we ended up going to Dahab town for the majority of our dinners - which is a short taxi ride from the hotel and there are a large number of restaurants by the sea. When we had given the management feedback about improving the food offers, a few times dishes were prepared for us off menu which were delicious so the capability was there. However, it appeared to only be managers who could make the call as we asked a waiter if there was any other vegetarian dishes that could be made off the menu at the Sails restaurant (the beach side restaurant) and we were told that was not possible. It would have also been nice to see some local foods and fruits on the menu.
The breakfast was good however the fruits selection offered were standard: oranges, watermelon, galia melon, grapefruit, orange and apricots. There was a wider range of fruits and fresh juices that we were able to enjoy when we went into the town. The hotel did offer fresh dates which were lovely.
We did a day trip to the Blue Hole, snorkelled around the hotel and my husband and cousin enjoyed a quad biking trip all arranged by Sam who runs the water activity centre. The reef at the hotel has been damaged but we saw a lot of fishes and a ray whilst snorkelling there. It would be nice to be able to borrow snorkelling gear at the hotel (You can hire gear for the day from the activity centre at a cost of €10 per day).
We had a lovely stay at Le Meridien and we would definitely recommend it.
