I came to Dahab with my flatmate for a 6 day break, over my birthday. We booked the hotel because of the reviews on Trip Advisor. We were delighted with the entire experience and doubt that any other hotel in Dahab could compete. We walked past a lot of other hotels and many of them looked a bit run down and not very pretty - the Acacia has beautiful trees, it's clean and well looked after. The best on the sea front.
The location is perfect - just in the right spot to be quiet but a mere 5 minutes into the hustle of the main town along the beach. No shuttle bus, no hassle - once you are there everything is on your doorstep. We got a transfer through the hotel which was around £25 each way and very convenient and worth it. Our flight was delayed but they still picked us up on time!
The service from ALL staff was flawless - they are all very friendly, attentive and most of all - fun!
We had a deluxe twin room on the ground floor, facing the pool. I was disappointed the room did not have a view of the red sea, which is implied on the website.. It was also noisy as there were people above us, and it's a few metres from the pool. That was the only downside. The shower was lovely and warm, the air conditioning was great and the value is excellent.
The cleaning is the best I've ever experienced - the room was always spotless and on top of that - it made my day every day to come in and see the amazing towel designs! I cried with laughter when I came in and Mohammed had turned my pillow into a person with a hoodie on it, a face (made out of toilet roll) reading a book! One day there was an elephant made of pillows and towels, and another day a monkey made of towels hanging up! I will upload photos soon but it was hilarious and a nice touch.
The breakfast was ok - I had pancakes or omelettes but didn't fancy anything else as there were flies hovering about a bit. It would be good to have juice with breakfast - tea and coffee you can get though. I had breakfast a little later and by then the cheese/meats etc looked a bit sweaty and not very appetising. It would be good to get a bigger choice of cereals perhaps. I took my breakfast outside and had it by the sea and ordered a capuccino (always great!).
The pool is nice, the sunbeds are good and the bar is lovely. The cocktails are the best I had in dahab and good value. I got far too fond of the Dahabolitan! We only had lunch there once and had pizza which was nice. There was a party once night as part of the festival and that was so much fun - two great bands and lots of dancing!
I am giving this 5 stars for the overall experience. I'd have preferred a quieter room but to be honest I had so much fun I didn't really care in the end!
We did a camel ride into the desert and had bedouin dinner booked through King Safari next door and that was great. We don't dive but the dive place in the hotel looked great.
Overall a great place to come for a relaxing sunny break with some of the friendliest staff you'll ever meet! We hope to come back with a big group of friends next year and hope the same staff are there.
