“Great Value Hotel and Staff!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 7, 2010

I have stayed in Dahab about 7 times and decided for a change. Dahab Plaza was excellent value for money. It is clean, functional and Emad and his staff are friendly, helpful and great hosts. Ok the rooms are basic but they all have AC and a separate bathroom. My bathroom was as big as my twin bedded bedroom and I slept well every night (sometimes 9 hours a night!). There is a nice pool to cool off in as well as sun loungers and showers. And there is free wifi throughout the hotel.

But it is the small but added touches that makes Dahab Plaza a cut above the rest. Emad will give you 9 large water bottles to keep cool in your fridge and there is free laundry. It comes back 24 hours later clean, pressed and wrapped.

I had half board and echo the comments from previous visitors. It is again great value but sadly the Fish Restaurant does not stay open for dinner. So if like me you stayed 2 weeks, then the (reduced) menu at Same Same Restaurant can become, well, same-same. But their breakfasts (or in my case brunches) are excellent.

If you want a genuinely friendly service with a hotel that has aircon, fridge, en suite and half board then I recommend Dahab Plaza. Emad will arrange anything you want including drivers to collect you from the airport at competitive prices. Nothing is too much trouble.

One further thought: please be mindful of booking through an online hotel booking service as Emad cannot get paid until 45 days after you leave. Contact him direct on the Dahab Plaza Hotel web site and get the rates direct.

Enjoy!

Very nice place. Not 5 stars hotel, but if you need 5 stars - go to Hilton :)
"Family style" hotel. Emad, the owner, is very hospitable man, speaks little, does much.
The hotel itself is very basic, but I personally ok with this - airconditioning and hot water in the room make me feel good :) Rooms are really clean.
Very quite, the hotel looks disconnected from outside world. You may take your time in chillout smoking shisha or drinking beduin tea.
The hotel guests - from young girls company to aged couples.
Good location: 2 minutes walk to the sea shore, 10 minutes - to Lighthouse reefs.
Any questions - Emad will help you to find the good place, if by any reason he cannot organize it for you. By the way - I strongly recommend to organize your activities (taxi, beduin dinner, Blue Hole visits etc) at Emad - you will get a really good price.

I certainly recommend this place, if you not an "all included" person.

I stayed at Dahab Plaza with my 11 year old daughter for 2 weeks, from 1st minute we felt extremely welcome,it was like walking into a calm oasis,Emad the owner took us for a little guided tour to make sure we had the most essential knowledge about the village and his breakfast places along the beach,If and when we went on trips, snorkeling,st,catherine or just wanted hang around in a jeep or whatever,Emad made a call,he arranged the best horses that i could let my daughter ride away with,i felt total confidence with Emads friends and connections,I´m very protective when it comes to my child but i felt safe and calm in every situation with Emads tips, and associates.also he Always seemed to get everything at a better price for his guests. We pretty much had the same chauffer for our excursions the whole time.the hotel itself is in my opinion very well managed, clean and effective, since it is family style managed, you also get to feel the nice vibe of trust and familiarity. All in all i must say its an excellent place so stay. The service was spotless, the breakfast perfect.the chill vibe and feeling of beeing free and at the same time taken care of i only experienced in som remote villages around he globe before,Thanx Emad and family for two amazing weeks.

First of all I need to say couple of words about the staff. They are really friendly people, that ready to help u 24/7.
Emad, the owner of hotel will advice u the best attractions by the best price. Don't book any excursion in other place, it will be more expensive.
I think that a location of the hotel is the best in a town, it's so close to all - half a minute from supermarket, 5 minutes from the Tree bar (very good place to dance and play pool), 10-15 minutes from the Lighthouse (the place to snorkel and see amazing underwater life) and other popular places in Dahab.
Highly recommended hotel to stay!!!

Highly recommend this hotel to stay in Dahab, the hotel Owner/Manager and staff are super friendly and will go out of there way to help you. The hotel owner even dropped us of at the bus station for free! The breakfeast which is included are really good.

The tours that emand offers are very well priced, much better than the local tour operators in the area.

Its a great facility to have a swimming pool as many of the hotels in the area do not.
I will definately stay here again when i come back.

An hotel with character and charm, i cannot recommend the Plaza highly enough. Emad, the owner, is utterly charming and hospitable. Nothing is too much trouble for him and his team, and after he first shows you around the town you will feel like you know the place! The hotel is about 3mins walk from the sea, and all the better for being a bit off the main drag. Having been to Sharm for diving i wanted a little less hassle and more "real" egyptians - and found it in Dahab...
We came away having made many egyptian and ex-pat friends, but none more dear than Emad - he seems to genuinely care about his guests and, although there was a bit of construction going on when we were there, i think this place is going to go from strength to strength - can't wait to go back!

I visited Dahab Plaza based on reviews and the quick email responses I go from Emad (the owner/manager). The prices he offered were great and although we were going in a high local season, he was generous not to raise the prices of his hotel on us after he knew that we are 2 couples going there.

The hotel is very basic budget hotel - clean rooms, clean bathroom, free internet. Its location is central in down town Dahab. It is near Ghazala supermarket (a big supermarket in Dahab - where big is relative to Dahab), and within 2 minutes you are on the Dahab corniche where all the restaurants/cafes and bazars.

Emad screens very much anyone providing his guests with external services (like taxis, rides to the Blue hole, rides to the 3 pools, bedouin nights in the desert, diving, snorkeling gear etc.) in order to maintain his reputation. He also does NOT add a mark-up for himself on the prices of external services which make them very reasonably priced. Emad's main aim is to win you as a friend and have you come again. Regardless of the activity you want to do in Dahab - if he can provide it somehow, he will at the best price in Dahab at a very decent quality.

Although Dahab Plaza does not have a private beach, it is contracted with 2 nearby restaurants (2 mins walk and 6 min walk) on the corniche and one of them provides the capability to swim. The food there is OK and at suitable quantities - I recommend trying the Egyptian menu, because they do it best. At night you can go to the bazars or if you feel like relaxing you can go to a cafe or even stay in the hotel. Emad will be there offering tea and coffee on the house out of sincere hospitality.

In all cases, people visit Dahab for the activities to do in Dahab: Blue Hole snorkeling/diving, 3 pools snorkeling/diving, Sea Canyon dive, white & colored canyon, corniche and calm night-life - and not for enjoying the facilities of a hotel.

I also want to give a hint for Non-Egyptians: whenever you find a small hotel in Egypt where the owner is present and on top of things and has a good reputation, know for sure that this will be a nice place to stay in - and Emad/Dahab Plaza is a strong example of it.

To me, Dahab Plaza is the perfect place in Dahab to rest and shower and relax while enjoying a trip full of activities.
