“not what it looks like”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 6, 2009

I've been in Dahab four times. Three times in Swiss inn and now in Hilton. My advice is: go to Swiss inn. You should know this facts: Hilton Dahab has standard, luxury and suite rooms. Diference between std. and luxury is that the luxury room is closer to the sea. I didn't know that and I've paid my travel agent sea view (like I did always in Swiss inn) but i got "reception view" (for exp. for a regular room in Swiss Inn I got really a sea view room). Rooms are NOT what they look on the pictures. They are old and used. Of course, Hilton is still an oasis if you compare it with other hotels in Dahab but you get more for your money in Swiss Inn. Sunbeds are also old and the beach bar can not comapre to Swiss Inn beduin beach bar. Still, the food is great (in Hilton you get as much as you want of fresh orange juice for breakfast; in Swiss Inn you have to pay for it...). Be careful with mini bar. I was charged for items I've never used (I dont use mini bar at all!). This are small differences but they do matter. In two months I am going back to Dahab and guess which Hotel...

We did not book a hotel in dahab but went looking once we arrived. After a lot of dirty places and difficult experiences, we were very happy to book the hilton for a nice, clean experience. The hilton was stunning - with beautiful rooms, stunning pools and a great spot on the beach. When staying in Dahab you have option of staying right in the city centre or a 5min drive away where the Hilton and other similar hotels are. There are no 4/5 star hotels in the city centre, but if you stay where the Hilton is (5 min drive away) it is very cheap to get a cab in. We never ate in the hotel (except for breakfast) and went into the city centre everyday. I would highly recommend the Hilton in Dabab !

We stayed here just before christmas and had a great time. The standard of service was high, the room clean and the staff couldn't be more friendly and helpful.

The hotel is tastefully designed in a low rise local style. The private beach is a short walk away where loungers and towels are provided.
The food is buffet style and acceptable, if not brilliant. My only complaints are that you have to pay to use the gym, internet and pool tables. That aside, this is a great place to unwind and totally relax in a beautifully designed and laid out hotel.

  • Liked — THE GENERAL HIGH QUALITY
  • Disliked — THE ADDED COSTS FOR GYM USE, INTRNET AND BILLIARDS.

We went for one week in mid November.
The accomodation wasnt up to the standards in other Hilton hotels- it was a little run down and dated but the room was large with a large balcony and views on to the decorative pools.
The food was a little disappointing - all restaurants served similar food (including room service) so if you eat within the hotel a lot you will get bored.
Despite some of the down sides of the hotel the staff were good-really nice and accomodating.
The beach was good - especially as central Dahab itself doesnt have much in the way of a beach. It was convenient having a dive centre on site and there are plenty of excursions and watersports which run from the hotel beach. At this time of year it is still fairly warm and not too busy which is great. I would definitely consider doing another trip to Dahab and this hotel.

  • Liked — location on the beach front.
  • Disliked — It was a bit dated and well worn.

We had a wonderful time at the resort, it has everything, even its own beach!!! We did have some problems with our room like the Air Conditioning not working and the shower was broken but they fixed them very quickly.

The big let down was the room service, the food was terrible and the buffet that changes theme every night was not much better. The Italian restaurant however was much nicer.
Also the Internet is also wasy overpriced, nearby Dahab town has loads of Internet Cafes that are very cheap.

Great location and very cheap with loads to do, we chose to do a ATV safari to the blue hole which was great fun. Our room had a lovely balcony and a great view. Would recommend!!

  • Liked — Relaxed atmosphere and Hilton service and style
  • Disliked — The food from Room service and the MIrage Restaurant

We have just got back from staying two weeks at the Hilton Dahab.

We arrived at the hotel at 10:00pm, after we unpacked we went for a drink at the Windjama Bar, it was so peaceful we thought this is great.

In the morning we went for breakfast which was quite nice with a good variety of food.

We then went to the pool and we were the only two people there, once again we thought this is heaven.

About 11:30 they started the water aerobics which broke the peace and quiet, this lasted for around about an hour and the pool returned to its quietness but with a few more people.

The only problem with the pool is the Pool Bar is never open so you have to go to the beach if you want a drink or a snack.

The sun went down about 4:30pm and we went back to our room.

We had paid for full board accommodation so we went to the buffet dinner which started at 7:00pm, there was not a very good variety of food at all, so we lived on salads for the whole two weeks except for when we had room service which was very good.

The next day we went to the beach which was full of noisy Russians, when I say noisy I mean noisy, rood, arrogant and bombastic, they are the same when dining in the restaurants and buffet.

The beach was fantastic for its variety of water sports with every thing you can imagine and this is where everyone goes rather than the pool.

There is a disco twice a week (Saturday and Tuesday) which starts around 10:00pm and ends around 2:00pm this located towards the top rooms of the hotel complex but is heard all over the complex, so be prepared to stay up to then on these two nights.

There is evening entertainment twice a week in the Court Yard of the Hotel

The advertised Kids Club closed whilst we there so you will have to look after your own children.

The advertised shuttle bus to the local town has stopped running and a taxi to the local town will cost you £2.00.

The local town is full of trinket shops with a few restaurants but be prepared to be harassed by the shop owners asking you to go in to their shops.

The hotel is more like a complex rather than a hotel and having stayed in Hilton Hotels before I would say it was not up to there normal high standard and give it a personal rating of 3 Star.

On our way home we talked and over heard other people talking and gathered that there hotels were better than ours.

Would we go there again? Maybe

Would we go to Dahab again? Yes

Great place - we went for a fortnight mainly for the windsurfing through Mark Warner - it didn't disappoint. The hotel is comfy, rooms very spacious and better than I expected - in nice little blocks of 4 spreadh around lagoons. Bathrooms as usual in this part of the world are more 2/3* than 4*. Food generally great, though didn't rate the italian pay option - Neptune's by the beach was a lovely setting for a special birthday dinner.

Watersports fantastic if you're up for it - very very windy most days which meant that sometimes it was a little hairy for the beginner amongst us, and as the more experienced one managed to break his leg on the last day, perhaps even too hairy for him! Watch out for the hotel doctor though - he diagnosed my broken leg and dislocated ankle as 'probably a sprain' and gave me a bandage and painkillers, much to the shock of A&E back in London where I turned up straight off the plane! Will never know if this was just to get me on the plane or because he genuinely thought that was what was wrong! Having said that they sorted out my ear infection earlier in the stay very well.
