“Cheap, beautiful and charming guesthouse”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 22, 2011

We have just returned from Sunrise where we stayed for 11 nights. It was amazing holiday and that we owe to the Sunrise crew. Location of the lodge is perfect, just steps from the main promenade of Masbat bay which is the central part of Dahab. Our room was spotlessly clean, ensuited and air-conditioned with incredibly comfortable king size bed and huge closet, very tastefully decorated; there is a lovely palm shade in the courtyard which adds up to the laid back feeling of Dahab, and all that for the price that will barely buy a decent dorm bed at any European hostel. Claire took good care of us from the moment we sent enquiry mail until we came home, arranging our transfers, helping us to choose the right trips, activities and places to eat and providing us with valuable insight into local customs and culture. She’s a bright supergirl who made everything look as easy as pie and we cannot recommend this place enough. Claire, Selma, Ahmad, Mohammad and Foxy were wonderful hosts and their personal attitude towards every guest makes this place cute and calm oasis among friends as opposed to plastic all inclusive accommodation that is dominant in Egypt. There is only one downside to it: the time we had to say goodbye was heartbreaking, but we will go back for sure.

Just steps from the Gulf of Aqaba and at an amazing price point, Sunrise Lodge was the logical choice for us. Our room was spacious and even featured a walk-in closet (where can you ever find that in Egypt?) and a powerful air-conditioner for those hot Sinai nights. Owner Claire and her assistant Ahmed were gracious hosts always pointing out the best places for breakfast, lunch, Egyptian food, pastries, swim spots.... We will be back!

I was staying here in a family group, and with friends. The rooms were great for our 4 night stay, with one double bed I had my share of a very good night sleep. The towels were changed and our beds were made every day which was good.

Claire was lovely and had lots of knowledge about what to see and do around Dahab and recommended really good restaurants. She was very friendly and go out of her way to make guests feel comfortable.

The hotel was in walking distance of lots of restaurants and only a couple of minutes away from the beach.

All in all, would thoroughly recommend staying here, I can't imagine getting a better welcome anywhere else!

I just got back from a stay here with my boyfriend. It was absolutely perfect and Claire was extremely helpful and friendly, before and during the trip. I'm not sure I've ever got such value for money, including a very good deal for transfers to and from Sharm which Claire arranged. Especially if like us you'll be out diving/quadbiking/windsurfing all day and want to explore the local restaurants and cafes, there is really no need to splash out on an expensive hotel that you'll barely use. Rooms were clean and comfortable with ensuite and AC (an absolute must to shelter from 35+ degrees C). And there is no reason to avoid Egypt as a travel destination, its a shame they've lost business this year. On the plus side there are cheap deals! And everyone falls over to help you.

I've been to Sunrise for 20 nights in April.
the place is just perfect. Only 5 rooms which makes it like home, and if you are a group and can rent all the rooms it will be great.
The rooms are clean, The camp is in a the middle of everything,
Also the place is so quite and safe for kids if you got any.
The Prices are amazing, The owner and the service guy are very very friendly and helpful.

When i'll go back to dahab i'll never think about somewhere else.

Very recommendable

Booked out the whole camp with some friends and were met by Claire (Clare?) who greeted us & kept us feeling welcome throughout. Really nice place right next to the beach and the cafes, with a sand-floored courtyard with some trees and even a kids area with toys and a shade.

The rooms are all clean & nicely minimal, with wooden furnishings & white walls, typical Dahab style. We had a problem with the shower in one room which got fixed immediately and we were all given fresh towels every day, and good room service.

Breakfast was included at the Buddha bar on the beach front, 20 seconds walk away & was a lovely way for everyone to start the day.

A really nice place and very low prices too.

Sunrise Lodge is perfectly located in the centre of Dahab. It is a cozy lodge with 5 rooms and a nice central gathering area in bedouin style. Claire, the owner, and her little girl Salma make you feel really welcome and Ahmed, working at the lodge, helps you wherever he can. The rooms are kept very clean and the place is so quiet. Enjoying a coffee in the bedouin corner is very relaxing and if you want more action it just takes you 2 minutes walking to the beach and to the centre. The approach of Claire and her team is very personal and this makes you want to come back. For shure we will visit Sunrise Lodge again!
