In March this year we spent a few nights in Dahab. Funny Mummy was the first restaurant we saw on our first evening there and even after the annoying walk along the promenade when every single waiter tried to get us into their restaurant and talk through their menu we still remembered the way Mohamed, the owner of Funny Mummy described to us how they prepare their fish of the day. It got stuck in our heads and we came back all the way and had the best meal of our entire trip through Izrael, Jordan and Sinai.
Starting with a selection of 5 dips, each of them very tasty, followed by grilled fish caught the same morning, grilled vegetables, chips and salad and ending with lovely fruit sorbet, all for a price that backpackers like us can easily afford. We came for dinner to Funny Mummy every following evening and were never disappointed. It was great feast after our budget trip and we enjoyed the evenings sitting on cushions scattered on the floor, bonfires warming up the room in various places, light-chains hanging from palm treas creating lovely relaxed atmosphere... and the cats trying to get bits of food that fell on the floor were looking well and healthy (unlike other places we saw). The waiters were nice and polite and Mohamed, the owner, was friendly in a not pushy way (not like the usual egyptian businessman:). At the end of our stay he even helped us to get a bus to Sharm-el-Sheik.
I will recommend this place to everybody not just because of good price (it was out of season, btw.) but also because the food was good enough to be served in a any 4* restaurant in Europe. A lovely experience, we had great chilled time here and if we ever go back to Dahab we will definitely visit Funny Mummy again.
