I cannot say enough about the wonderful weekend my friends and I had at the Golden Inn. After reading some of the more negative reviews on this website I was a little concerned but it was too late to turn back so I forged ahead without mentioning what I had read to anyone! I am glad I did! For what was an unbelievablly low price we spent two nights and three days there without a problem! The rooms were clean (we checked for "bugs") the food was delicious and the SPA experience was top notch! Every employee was friendly and accommodating! I imagine the package is a little pricer in the summer but it would be worth it for the short walk to the beach! It is also a short drive to Cape May which has always been my first choice in NJ shore towns. This was my first time in Avalon and I was very impressed. They are renovating sections of the Inn but I was told it should all be finished before summer! I say, take a chance and see for yourself!

Went there with the family for the Thanksgiving holidays. Hotel is pretty nice but the rooms are a little dated. That said the rooms were neat and the maid service great. My stay at the hotel was OK.
However, the restaurant was another story. Went for breakfast Thanksgiving morning and the service was horrible and the food for the price was not too good. We had reservations for dinner in the restaurant for Thanksgiving night. We got seated and waited a half hour before we got any service. We ended up with three different waitresses and nobody even filled our water glasses. My wife and son ended up leaving to go back to the room because it took over an hour to get our food. I could see waiting this long if crowded but we had a later reservation and there were only four other tables. When the food finally came out the order ended up being wrong! I would not reccomend this place because of the problems mentioned. I also would never stay in the hotel again either because of the terrible restaurant.

I resentley stayed here for 7 days and would not recomend it to anyone, not even 1 day.
I had been here before and stayed in the west wing, that was nice, but the houskeeping staff needs work.
Last year I arrived and a manager helped me at my car with my lugage. I then ate in the restaurant, service was slow but great. I was met by the the man who helped me, the director Bill A, he was profesional and informative about the hotel and Avalon. Thanks to him I was abble to enjoy the town. He went above and beond.
The bar staff was great Dave and Debbie.
Each day I enjoyed breakfat and dinner, but whenever I had a question the director was there, Bill was a great help but they work him to hard. I had problems with my phone and houskeeping but I would call and call and have no responce.
I was asked at breakfast how my stay was and I told my server.
Bill came back and fixed the problems I had.....WOW you would think he owned the place!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well I went back again and Bill wasent there,well it was horable!!!!!! not one person cared. I ate in the restaurant and had so many problems..I asked Sue to Find the manager about the food and the server said she hasent seen him but will send him over.
Well this tall man came to me and I said my food was horiable he told me that "I must not know about elegent food and to enjoy the flovors".... WHAT?? I told him that I needed to have it taken off the bill but he refused because I ate half the plate??????????? Yea what was ediable.... I asked to speek to Bill and he told me he left the company and he was the new boss and what he said is final........
I will never go back but you definitally should get Bill back and oust that man who treats people like children.

Stayed here because it is beachfront. Turns out not much of it really is, but at least it's adjacent. The positives: short walk to nice beach; beach bar and pool area are clean and fun; rooms are pretty spacious. The negatives: weddings/parties every day of the weekend (one night couldn't even use the bar and had to schlep across the street for a drink); far from anything else, so you have to drive; bar/restaurant staff very inconsistent.
On balance, stay in Cape May if you want to be able to walk to restaurants, etc., since you'll end up driving anyway. And you can find a lot better prices.
