Very few places open during February-March in Avalon and Stone Harbor. Walked in to book the reservation. Was given a decent price and decided to stay after looking at the room. Room was in the east wing so it was a decent room for the money. Beds were very nice. Feather beds-nice pillows. Fairly clean in general, ocean view. Later in evening we heard a loud noise, sounded as though the fridge may be running, unplugged that, and noise continued on and off. Tried to put pillows over my head to sleep, not helpful. Finally about 11:30 pm I had to call the front desk and this noise was driving me crazy. Maintenace was there within 3 minutes and discovered it was the furnace from the unit above us. That room was occupied, so they moved us to an ocean front suite. Great view, sorry we were unable to enjoy it due to darkness of night. This room had some type of water running through pipes which sounded as if it was pouring rain outside and it was gutters, however we awoke and there was no rain outside. Rooms were both really great size, updated furnishings, fairly clean. For the money we paid it was worth it, however if I would have been paying full price or summer rates I would have been very disappointed. From experience I have learned that hotels/motels are outdated and not kept very nice on the Jersey Shore Cape May area, however this one was acceptable. Unsure if we would return again, just due to the noises of the property and unablility to go to sleep.
