“Really good shore hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 26, 2013

We stayed here 5 nights recently, were in Stone Harbor for a wedding. This hotel was remodeled in 2012, and we were pleased with our stay. We were in a junior suite, which is a king bed and a sleeper sofa ( which we didn't need, just wanted the suite). Suite included a small dining table, a small frig (not full size, but bigger than dorm size), a bar-size sink, cabinets with a few dishes and silverware, a Keurig coffee brewer. So, if you choose to have breakfast or a sandwich in your room, you can. Bathroom is separate from a mirrored entry area, so husband could shower while I could do makeup and hair drying outside the bathroom. Service was good. Pool jammed all the time, lots of kids. A great covered deck overlooks the ocean, you can eat all three meals there and they have live music much of the time. Overall, a great shore vacation hotel for families- not a romantic place. High prices in high season, though. Location is what you are paying for.

Room Tip: You can only get an ocean-view in high season if you rent Saturday-Saturday. We were here Thursday...

I went to a Wine Dinner event recently and had a wonderful time! The event was on the 3rd floor so the view was beautiful. The waitstaff was very attentive and the food was delicious and they had a wine to match each course, it was great time! I had not been on the 3rd floor since they added the bar, it was so private and the view of the ocean unobstructed. Best seat in the house!

If you want to get away for a short time without any hassle, try the Windrift. The hotel has just been remodeled so the rooms are comfortable and updated. The staff is pleasant which always makes a stay more enjoyable. There is a patio overlooking the ocean perfect for breakfast or an evening cocktail. A small outside bar overlooks the beach. The casual restaurant has a good menu and the fine dining restaurant serves up good seafood. The pool is heated for "chilly days". Best of all the beach is right outside your door. No dragging beach chairs for several blocks or driving around for a parking space. Perfect for early morning or late evening beach walks. One suggestion...try to go off season. The prices are better and there is no crowd.

Room Tip: Stay away from the third floor bar and get a room on the poolside.

Lovely resort at the Jersey shore. Beautiful pool and fine dining choices. Closest downtown is Stone Harbor - nice shopping area with additional restaurants. Resort is on the beach. It's a 7 mile island with bay on the other side for those who want to fish or boat. Close to Cape May.

Room Tip: hotel rooms recently remodeled and very nice

The rooms are beautiful and the view from our third floor room wonderful.

The food in the dining room was very good as was the service. Breakfast and the service on Level II was very good; the food at lunch was poor. We were amazed at the change in quality from one meal to the next. We only ate dinner in the dining room.

The saddest part of our stay was the Tuesday night “Wing Night". It was very noisy on the restaurant deck, but that noise could be blocked out by closing the sound blocking balcony door. However, the pounding and vibration from the band's bass drum was loudly heard until 12:30 am when the band finally stopped for the night. From my perspective, it’s not a good way to pay back the guests in your most expensive rooms.

The next night was sublime – very quiet even with the balcony door open.

If you are looking for a relaxing, peaceful ocean visit, this hotel may not be for you. Check the events schedule and/or with the reservation desk for types of bands and where they are playing. The offending band played on Level II and was probably a rock bank. Didn’t hear any of the music, just the base. If you are up with the band until closing, this may be a perfect spot.

Note: This review is only for a third floor oceanfront room.

We have stayed here before and look forward to our trip every June. They recently remodeled and the rooms are very modern and up to date. We stay in a Junior suite with a king bed, sleep sofa table with 4 chairs and small kitchen area.
There are 4 restaurants, sushi bar, and 3 bars with music every night. I would give it 5 stars if it had a gym , there exercise places close by.

The food is good, and the staff very helpful

Room Tip: If you come in-season get a room overlooking the pool. I like the rooms on the street side with a vi...

This review is for the restaurant portion of the hotel as I have not stayed at the hotel in years. The restaurant/bar is always crowded so you would think that the service and food are dynamite, however the reason for the crowd is because of the views and lack of other options. The food is typically average and the service is poor. Above all, do not order the sushi if you are in a rush, on average it takes about 30 minutes for a sushi order to get to your table.
