“The Best in Every Way!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 18, 2011

After researching several hotels in the Galapagos Islands I selected Finch Bay based on the many excelent reviews it received. My husband and I and our friends could not have been happier with the choice. This hotel is the perfect land based destination for a tour of the islands. Below, I have touched on the aspects of this place that I believe make it so special:
1) The Hotel Itself. It is situated on a lovely beach with amazing sunsets. The pool is large; the pool side bar serves great drinks thanks to it's very talented barman, Jorge; the rooms are spotlessly clean and comfortable. Here I want to mention that we stayed in a standard room one night and then ugraded to an ocean view room. The standard room was perfectly fine but we wanted to do something a bit more special to celebrate our anniversary. I highly recommend the ocean view for both it's size and, as you might expect, the beautiful views.
2) The Food. Breakfasts are large with a nice variety of dishes. Dinners are truly gourmet with wonderful soups, salads and a choice of three entrees each evening and don't pass on the desserts- delicious! The daily lunch served aboard the yachts during the tours was also good and served on white table cloths with wait service. Amazing!
3) The Service Staff. Everyone we met was warm and friendly. They all went out of their way to make us feel special. I especially want to mention Carlos who did everything from moving our luggage to our rooms tp serving in the dining room to being our own personal server one evening when we celebrated our anniversary with a special pool side dinner. Thank you, Carlos.
4) The Tour Guides. They were friendly, very knowledgeable and obviously care passionately about the islands. Our guides, Valentine and Soto, gave us a true appreciation of this beautiful place and it's special creatures.
5) The Hotel Manager, Tito. We appreciated the fact that Tito was a very visable presence at the hotel. He stoppped by to chat every day and was always accomodating with any special request. When I mentioned that we were celebrating our anniversary he promised us something special and he delivered on that promise. Thank you, Tito.

Our visit to the Galapagos Islands and our stay at Finch Bay will always stand out as one of our most memorable trips. Thanks to all who made it so.

We stayed 3 nights at the Finch Bay as part of an 8 day Galapagos holiday. The Finch Bay has a beautiful location 3 minutes water taxi ride from the Puerto Ayora pier, is very peaceful and has very good ocean views. The hotel is very peaceful, the staff very friendly, the rooms very comfortable and the food is very good - breakfasts are excellent, particularly the fresh juices and the freshly cooked egg dishes and the dinners we ate were also very good with excellent fresh seafood and tasty desserts. We also enjoyed the refreshing swimming pool. A special commendation for Jorge the barman who makes some great cocktails. thoroughly recommend staying here as part of a visit to the Galapagos.

Room Tip: try to get an ocean view room - we stayed in room OV 1 which had very good views and was very comfor...

We had a great time at the Finch Bay Hotel. Very nice staff (esp. Carlos). The food was really good. The whole environment of the hotel was like Paradise. A special thanx to our guides Mario and Valentin. They made our visit to the Galapagos Islands very special.

A wonderful hotel - has to be our favourite hotel. Staff fantastic - everybody - manager Tito, reception staff, bar and dining staff, nature guides all are so helpful and happy. Only drawback with our stay here was that it was too short (4 nights). We would love to go back and stay longer.

Dear AnneandMark,

Thank you very much for your review, we loved to meet you and we think you are number one guests!!!

As you say 4 nights is too short to visit this amazing National Park so please come back, there is so much to see and feel...you will be always welcome at Finch Bay!

Best regards,

There are so many things I could say about this place. Carlos and his excellent staff created arguably the best hotel experience we have had in many years of travel.

We were not staying at the hotel but we booked three trips on their boats, we ate numerous meals with other guests, and spent hours at the pool, bar, and beach. The kids (10, 8, and 4) begged to return each night.

If you travel to the Galapagos use Finch Bay as your base of operations and enjoy the islands from the comfort of their beautiful day trip boats while seeing Bartolome, Santa Fe, Plaza Sur, and North Seymour. The Charles Darwin Center and Tortuga Bay are both shorts trips from the hotel.

Five out five is easy for this place. I would highly recommend this place for families used to travel, couples, newly weds, and adventurers alike.

Find Carlos, the manger, and shake his hand when you get there (if he hasn't found you first). He will be like family before you leave.

Our entire experience in the Galapagos was incredible and our stay at Finch Bay was no exception. From meeting you at the town dock and water taxiing you to the hotel, never having to touch your bags, welcome cocktail and the beautiful surroundings, incredible. Very attentive staff, especially Manager Cesar who looked after us like family. We even met him in town on his day off and he stopped and took the time to chat with us and introduce us to his lovely daughter. The people at the hotel and in town, the Ecuadorian people in general are very warm and friendly. We would recommend Finch Bay to anyone and thge Galapagos should be on everyones "bucket list" a must see!

Room Tip: They are all nice. All have hammocks on the porch

After four nights of visiting various islands on the Grand Odessey, we spent three nights on Santa Cruz because three of us wanted to have a couple days of scuba diiving and boats in the Galapagos are apparently not licensed to do both land tours and scuba diving. The other half of our three couple party opted to visit a couple of other islands while the three of us went diving. Wonderfully our three nights were at Finch Bay Eco Hotel. Unfortunately, we did not add a couple more days to more fully our stay there. Everything about Finch Bay was terrific. The manager,Tito, went out of his way to make sure every moment we spent at the Finch Bay was a delight. All the staff were attentive, but Cesar and Grace made sure our dinners each evening were perfect. The breakfasts and dinners were all delicious, but we all agreed that the tuna was the best we have ever had. We wish we had added a couple more days to simply relax there.
