“A special hotel in a special place”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 7, 2011

Beautiful setting overlooking the bay. Outside covered seating where we saw large pelicans, blue footed boobies, manta rays and sea turtles while having a drink before dinner! The hotel is designed to look a bit like a cave, all white with fans in the rooms and everything bright and clean. You can't drink the water out of the tap, but fresh drinking water is provided. They also take special care to rinse salad in filtered water, and they keep filtered water available at the bar so you can refill your water bottle. One of the best breakfast buffets we had on our trip - a typical European type offering of meats, cheeses, breads as well as fresh fruit and cereal. There are no roads to this hotel - you must take a water taxi to reach it, which adds to it's special ambiance.

Room Tip: we had a large room with a king-sized bed and one twin for the 3 of us. Our room also had a safe for...

We stayed at the Angermeyer Waterfront Inn for a "babymoon" this spring. We had a wonderful experience. Elsie and Teppy treated us like family and were always available for a chat, or a helpful tip. The staff were friendly and polite and always tried their best to accommodate The Inn is located in a very quiet section of Pto Ayora -- there are no cars in this section. You take a 2 minute Water taxi ride to the front step of the hotel. The grounds are immaculate, and the rooms are beautiful and absolutely spotless. Breakfast was included, and was delicious every day! We called this place home for 5 days, and were sad to leave. This lovely hotel combines the best of Puerto Ayora -- you can go into town for sightseeing, restaurants, shopping, etc., and return to a blissfully quiet hotel, with great service and ambience. I would return in a heartbeat.

Thanks again Elsie!

Room Tip: book a room facing the bay for gorgeous sunrises and waterfront views.

We enjoyed our stay at the Angermeyer and were pleased with our clean room, delicious breakfasts and the beautiful views. The Angermeyer had exceptional customer service, was spotless (even by 1st World standards) and the rooms were comfortable, lots of light and fresh. The extras, like wifi, replacing our beach towels every day and fresh flowers in the room and bathroom were much appreciated.

This hotel is not in town, and requires a short water taxi back and forth. However, there is a nice quiet beach (Finch Hotel area), hiking and Las Grietas within walking distance.

We loved this place. We were greeted personally by the owner and the staff was right on top of our every need. Our room was unique with comfortable beds and a large shower. The inn is right on the busy Santa Cruz waterfront and sitting watching the action right from the covered patio was enjoyable. Also, hiking was right outside the gate. One thing to note: it is necessary to take a "water taxi" to get to the main part of the island. It is easy to do and costs very little. But if you have mobility issues, getting in and out of the water taxis is tricky.

We were not the easiest guests. One day our alarm did not go off and our tour guide woke the owner at 5:00 to rouse us. There was never a grumble. They were so wonderful about everything.

The room we had was huge and the harbor views were beautiful. Bathrooms were very clean and nice.

Breakfast was far above the standard included breakfast one gets at many hotels. The banana pancakes were amazing. The food at other times was good, a nice option. But the location means you have many great options nearby as well.

When I was planning my trip to Galapagos, I searched for a nice hotel, so I picked Angermeyer Waterfront Inn, but once there, starting from the arrival experience, everything became like a dream. The Angermeyer Waterfront Inn is located in front of Puerto Ayora town, so you need to take a 3 min trip in a "taxi bote". Once there, you feel you are part of a place in time that no longer exists, because the hotel mantains its natural designed with the exquisiteness of a 5star hotel. The personnel is extremely friendly, and the rooms are with ocean view and just impecable. You can get personalized assistance by its owner and administrator and the view is espectacular!! The food combines national flavours and gourmet coussine, so you will not miss anything!!

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
We are situated right at the waterfront, which provides a splendid view of the bay and the interior of the island of Santa Cruz – as well as a convenient place for taking a swim. The final phase of construction was finished in 2009, and our hotel is a natural first-choice for quality travellers. A short 100 meter walk along a path takes you to a small beach. There is an ocean view from 13 of the 16 rooms. Due to the restrictions of the National Park it is not possible to walk to the hotel. Instead it can easily be reached by a 2-minute water-taxi ride right to our door. We have a beautiful wooden deck built out over the water where we serve lunches as well as dinner by candlelight. From the deck we often see sea turtles, sea lions and iguanas swimming past. Pelicans, frigate birds and blue-footed boobies are always our visitors. We offer full bar service as well. ... more   less
