“Fantastic views from our room”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 12, 2013

The service and staff did a great job, only ate at the restaurant for their wonderful breakfast being that we are not into sushi. For the price one has to pay to stay here one would think that a hotel transfer would be included to and from the boat taxi but it is not-$15 each way. The location could not have been better. The views from our room were perfect. Wish the stairwell was lite going to our room, very difficult to see on dark nights. The rooms are a little small and getting plenty of fresh drinking water everyday was not easy. The resident mascot sea lions were cool to see every morning and evening. By this time in our vacation we were used to not having hot water in the shower. The free bicycles to ride are a nice touch, just take for a quick road test before going far so you can switch out for a better one if needed. Note-Swimming pool is not on the grounds and was down for repair when we were there.

Room Tip: Make sure you get an ocean view on the second floor.

It has just a few rooms around a cute little pool. It has free coffee and water and a cooking area if you so desire to grill yourself a little meal. It came with a free breakfast at the main campus on the ocean front and is an easy little walk there. The main hotel was busy and crowded. We were so pleased to enjoy the ocean in the mornings but have our quiet little retreat, with room internet acess and AC just up the hill.

Room Tip: Teenagers loved the free bikes and even took them overnight up to the divers lodge.

This was our first time to the Galapagos Island and I was traveling with my sister. We made our reservations through Travelzoo which then got us in touch with Fernanda. When we arrived at the hotel we were greeted by the staff with a cool beverage. We stayed at the sister lodge which was very clean and spacious, staff was on hand at the sister lodge as well, it had a small swimming pool which was nice to cool off in. The hotel was close and within walking distance to town. The staff was very helpful and accommodating through the whole trip, they would handle our luggage from island to island and boat to boat. We ate our meals at the lodge which was good, nice variety and plenty to eat. We had a tour guide that took us from island to island, he organized all transportation which was always on time and available, between the land taxi, sea taxi and boats there could have been a delays but everything went off without a hitch. Safety for visitors was top priority and they take it very seriously. They "held our hands" the whole time we were there, all the way to the airport. We highly recommend this hotel, service and staff were top notch. The thing that I can see improving is the AC, it was very hot during the day and it would have been nice to walk into a cool room or having a stronger AC.

When we were there the rate for a double room was 199 per night. This is a separate hotel operated by the red mangrove adventure lodge. The location is within walking distance of the main street. Price includes dinner at Red Mangrove and use of bicycles, the bicycles are in such disrepair that they verge on dangerous. The dinner is terrible. The room is small, and very worn looking. The pool is about as big as a plastic baby pool, but the worst by far is no hot water, none not even close to warm. The cold water only came out in a very weak trickle. We would have complained but there was no one to complain too. We had made reservations over the phone so there was a lady waiting for us when we arrived. After she checked us in we never saw her again and the office was locked up for the remainder of our stay.

This is the first time I traveled to Galapagos Islands, and compared to other overnight accommodation options that I noticed that were available on Santa Cruz, this place was top notch! The Diver's Lodge is a bright and inviting space with clean, simple accomodations that have ample room and are more on the lines of two-story small apartment living. Our air-conditioner was loud, but it worked well, so we were very comfortable in our bed whether it be raining or 85degrees. I didn't notice anywhere on Santa Cruz, Isabela or Floreana where you could flush toilet paper, but since recepticals are cleaned routinely, this turned out not to be as annoying/slightly revolting as it originally seemed. Clean, fresh water is a scarce resource on all of the Islands, but this facility treats their water to ensure it's cleanliness. All of the on-site staff at the lodge were very pleasant and tried very hard to accommodate any need we had. They were also very quick to forgive my poor attempts at speaking Spanish (thank you staff) and, in-turn, tried to respond in English. The street that the diver's lodge is on is a bit run-down, but after taking several walks throughout the town, most of the area except for their two main streets are pretty much run-down--so--you can't really hold this against the lodge. The location of the lodge was great for shopping at the tourist shops and it was just a short walk to the main hotel on the waterfront. The four blocks to the main hotel were not long or difficult to navigate, its just that without sidewalks the whole way, you have to make sure you do not meander too far into the road. Don't worry if you do, the traffic is light and drivers honk their horn to let you know to get out of their way. The food at the main hotel was great! No complaints with any meal - they were all flavorful, changed each day and you also had a few options to choose from at every meal. If you have a food allergy or preference, at check in, they wanted to hear about it so they could accommodate you. As it turned out, the four block walk back to the lodge became something to look forward to after each good meal. All-in-all I was very comfortable in the Diver's Lodge and the staff helped to ensure my stay was an enjoyable one. I would definately recommend the Diver's Lodge to a friend.

We booked our Galapagos honeymoon through Red Mangrove, and were pretty happy with the results. The lodges were all great, and the Diver's Lodge was a nice budget option. While this place didn't have food, it was easy to walk to to its sister hotel on the waterfront. The rooms were tidy, and actually had almost too much space, as there were just too of us and we didn't need a room with 3 beds. On our first day there, there was a leak in the bathroom, but we let the front desk know and the fixed it right away. Overall, and great stay and would definitely recommend.

This hotel does have a spectacular location, right on one of the most gorgeous beaches you will ever encounter. We stayed in the "divers lodge" connected to the hotel and had a room with gigantic windows overlooking the beach. Unfortunately, the room itself was problematic. We never had any hot water, the a/c did not work in one room and the toilets in one room worked OK and did not work at all in the other room. We had one excellent meal (a bbq) and one poor meal. We were a family traveling by ourselves and felt overwhelmed by big groups, a different one each evening.
