“Fantastic boutique hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 11, 2013

This property is unique, as are the Galapagos Islands themselves. The rooms are luxury tents based on the African safari concept of being immersed amongst nature. The tents have lovely views and many birds come to the tents and your balcony. The lodge also has a viewing point to watch the sun set, with incredible views of neighbouring islands.
By far the highlight of this hotel for me was the food - quite simply it was the best food we had in Ecuador. We were also very well looked after by the host, Katherine.
The Galapagos Islands are worth every penny - a truly unforgettable holiday.

Nestled in the highlands of Santa Cruz, this luxury campground is heaven on earth. The tents have fantastic views of the countryside, delicious fresh air, and all the amenities of a hotel room. Breakfast and dinner were feasts with culinary delights well prepared and exquisitely served. The staff made all arrangements for excursions and service was of the highest quality. Just in need of more extensive afternoon snacks after a busy day exploring what the Galapagos has to offer.

Our five night stay at the Safari Camp in the Galapagos was one of the highlights of our three week visit in Ecuador. Its location in the hills is stunning and provides somewhat cooler weather than hotels on the water. in that regard we did not find our daily ride to the tour boats to be an inconvenience, easily made up for the more pleasant weather. One of the great assets of this property is the manager, Katrine. She will tailor your outings to your expectations and, will be most attentive to your every need. Moreover, she is the perfect hostess and a pleasure to know. The chef is outstanding, and without question provided our best meals in Ecuador (including some highly rated restaurants in Quito). The tents are comfortable and functional but one should not expect the luxury of the high-end safari camps in the private reserves of Africa. On the other hand, the Lodge itself is beautiful and and perfect for lounging.
My only caveat does not apply to the Galapagos Safari Camp at all, but rather to booking your stay there with Tablet Hotels. While I would book hotels with them in great cities, they are not up to handling out -of -the -way adventure properties where logistic problems exist. For example, not having heard from Tablet, I called them several days before departure to enquire how one travelled from the airport to a ferry taking us to Santa Cruz Island and from the landing to the Lodge. The agent seemed amazed by my request (I do not believe she knew anything about the Galapagos) and after warning me several times that being met at the airport would require additional expense, she called the Safari manager who made the arrangements. The agent then called me back with the arrangements. Much could have been obviated, had I been put in touch with the manager much earlier, including, importantly, setting up tours in advance.

The camp was a great get away action packed adventure! The staff was great! Jimmy was our staff favorite and made the best Mojitos we have ever had in our lives. The food, sunsets and star gazing were truly mind blowing! The dive and snorkel trips were also some of the best in the world. Truly a great experience.

We stayed at the Safari Camp for 3 nights after being on the boat for 5 days/4 nights. It was a perfect ending to our trip. The boat regime is very regimented due to visiting many islands and locations in a short time. We welcomed the "calm" atmosphere at the "Camp".
The tents are far from what I recall when camping as a child. They were definitely luxury accomodations! Each Tent has a lovely balcony with hammock, table and chairs for 2! We were extremely impressed with the bathroom facilites. Great shower and plenty of space in the entire modern bathroom.
I can't say enough about the food! We were impressed at every dinner....not only was the food the best we had during our 2 weeks in Ecuador, but the presentation was exquisite! The young chef and his staff were very accomodating and provided us with unbelievable dishes at each meal.
Jimmy, the bartender, was a delight! He was very accomodating and made the best Mojito we've ever had! He picked the mint from the garden at the camp! Jimmy brought us beers out to the "sunset deck" and assisted us with our photography! The deck is amazing and the views and sunset were spectacular.
We highly recommend the Safari Camp as the perfect ending to an amazing trip to the Galapagos!

I think there are only 9 tents. These are luxury tents, meaning lovely beds, in tent coffee tea, air condition unit, and full bath shower. Yep, it just doesn't get any better than this. It's the perfect tenting experience for me!

The location is in the "highlands" and is very much remote and out of the main touristy areas. This is a plus because you are just surrounded by nature and have amazing views of the land and water. This is also a minus because it is far from town and you will require a taxi driver to get to anything. Despite this, it was perfect for us. We really liked not having to see a ton of people.

As others have mentioned, the food is fantastic. Definitely not typical ecuadorian cuisine but so delicious. They have excellent chefs / cooks there doing a great job!

There are some very cool things happening on this property:
Cool Thing 1: they are starting a cacao farm and will soon be growing high quality coco beans.
Cool Thing 2: they are environmentally focused and have built their resort around this value, they collect water and actually have enough to sell back to the local businesses. Very smart!
Cool Thing 3: Manager Katherine is outstanding in her hospitality. She and her team made our stay wonderful. They helped set up all of our activities.

I can't recommend this property enough. They only have 9 tents, so if you can get this place, go for it!

Room Tip: Make sure that you bring enough U.S. Dollars in advance. The ATM's only allow you to pull out...

We stayed here for 5 nights following a week on a dive boat. This really is 5 star camping with 9 amazing luxury rooms under canvas. The camp is situated in the Highlands with amazing views and wildlife including giant tortoise. The service is superb and really friendly and the food is excellent. We booked a safari package and thoroughly enjoyed two days with a private guide and two days on shared boat trips to North Seymour and Plaza Island. This is a really unique and relaxing place to stay and is very central to visit all areas of the island.
