My husband and I stayed at the Trump Taj Mahal for Valentine's Day, 2007. We arrived early, around 1:00, but were able to check in at that time. The room was great! We had booked a standard room through the hotel website for $79.00/night. We were very impressed with the size of the room, and the cleanliness. Also, there is a huge window with a view of the ocean that we liked. The decor was really cheesy, animal prints and elephants, but that is a matter of personal taste.
This was my first time in a casino, so I wasn't sure what to expect. Overall, I would say the Trump Taj Casino was OK. It took FOREVER to get drinks, probably my biggest complaint. We had to "stake out" cocktail waitresses, and approach them with our order. Kind of a pain. I understand we arn't high rollers, but would still appreciate some consistant service, and we did tip the waitresses for each drink.
We didn't win any money at the casino. We were down about $115 by the time we left, just playing the penny slots. I know that wasn't the casino's fault, but it didn't help make our experiance very special.
We did sign up for the Rewards card when we got there, and had a total of $10 in food comps that we didn't even use while we were there. I was disappointed with the comps overall, but I don't really have anything to compare it to.
At one point we strolled over to the showboat and were regretting that we didn't gamble there! It looked a lot nicer and they had a huge area of penny slots, for cheapies like us. At the Taj there was only a few rows of penny slots scattered around the casino.
One thing we did do while we were in AC was visit the Ripley's Believe it or Not musuem. We had a great time there! It is definately something different to do while in AC.
Overall, we had a very fun time at the Taj. I would definately recommend the hotel, but if we went back would try gambling at another casino.
Also worth noting, I don't think I would go back in the winter. The boardwalk was too cold to really be enjoyable.
