My boyfriend and I really enjoyed our two-night stay at the Taj Mahal. We arrived at 2pm on a Monday, were able to check in early without any problems, The room was clean and well appointed with a big flat screen TV and a very comfortable bed. The only downside - no robes! We ordered room service, four courses for two people came to under $100, and the food was very good, delivered quickly by a friendly server. The in-room entertainment offers a very good selection of movies. The hotel decor is over-the-top with crystal chandeliers and mirrors everywhere. Kind of tacky, but it's Atlantic City, it's part of the package! Our only real complaints: the layout of the hotel is confusing at first, and the Wyndham timeshare salespeople that are allowed to operate in the lobby are really aggressive -- we had to sit through their pitch once and were approached at least four other times about it in the two days we were there. Pretty annoying when you just want to pick up a morning newspaper in the lobby. Otherwise, no complaints (with the disclaimer that we were there in their off season). Great location.

Upon arrival to the Taj the nasty girl who works in the parking garage was rude and obnoxious. Telling us hotel guests may or may not get their money back for parking she didn't know nor did she care. At the Front desk two extremely bored girls after checking out each others nails finally asked if we wanted to check in. She did after I asked several times, get my coworker & I on the same floor which I did appreciate. The Conference space was ok. They had tried to cover up the unique looking indian wall paper with white sheets making the room dull and boring. Hotel Restaurants ~ The Safari steak restaurant was very good, overpriced but in the range you would expect for AC, you must try the french onion soup. The NY Deli was terrible for breakfast, stay away! The Casino staff was very courteous and friendly explianing the games to us. Oh I forgot the best part they charge you $20 to use the hot tub or sauna!! Who ever heard of charging for that?!! Unbeliveable!
Honestly, I'm not sure why people have business meetings or events at the casinos it seems like too many distractions and things going on, you can't concentrate on work, you come home with a lot less money than any other business trip.
The hotel room was mediocre. Bed was terribly uncomfortable I guess so you will get up and gamble instead of sleep. It was clean and tastefully decorated.

Stayed one night and it surpassed all my expectations. The scale of the place is something to behold in itself, the casino and bar are great. But the size and quality of the rooms for the price ($159 + taxes) was just superb. The view from the 33rd floor alone was something pretty special. Would definitely head there again if I return to AC.

As an exhibitor attending a trade show here, we chose to stay here as a matter of convenience. I have never been to Atlantic City before, and I will not be returning. Our flight came in early, so we went right to the hotel and were told we could not check in until noon...no exceptions. So, we waited in the lobby for 2 hours, using the wireless service which we had to pay $13.00 an hour for. (I am sorry...but I still find paying for internet service a rip-off for these big hotels...how much could this actually COST them?) When we went upstairs to get coffee then returned down to the front lobby at noon to check in, we were greeted by a line of about 50 people, with 5 check in clerks available. They were definately bored with their job and had no idea what customer service was. Once in our room, were were pleased with that. It was nicely appointed and had a nice view of the ocean, however, we still find it puzzling that the bathroom, though marble, had no exhaust fan..therefore, it got steamed up every morning during shower time. Isn't that like a standard thing??? We tried to order a movie, and it wouldn't allow us, so we called the front desk twice...was told the first time to wait ten minutes and try again (we did..no luck) then the second time we were put on "eternal hold". Finally, we went back down to the front desk, stood in line behind 10 or 12 people, and that clerk finally got the problem fixed. We aren't gamblers, so we didn't care much about the casino, and walking the boardwalk one afternoon, found mostly stores selling pure crap. It is dirty and scummy there, and I would NOT walk outside at night...looked very dangerous. I will never return here and can't see why these associations continue to do trade shows here!

  • Liked — nice view of ocean
  • Disliked — outside the hotel was scummy

We arrived early at the Taj Mahal, I have never been to Atlantic City before, I was immediately impressed by the size of the casino and hotel, it is 50 floors high. The smoking section of the casino is right near the hotel entrance, which does not really make a good first impression of the casino. They also place the worst slots here because they know smokers will play them, because thats the only place they can smoke. We first were looking for a western union to send money, i called guest services and the very unintelligent women told me that they do not have those around here. I don't like arguing with people so I plugged in my laptop and tried to go online. The screen doesn't tell you that you have to sign up, and was somewhat hard to figure out how to use, and it costs 13 dollars per day. The gaming in the casino was okay but I noticed they like to decorate the old 3 reel slots with a video screen on the top to make it appear more modern which was kind of strange to me. Our room was very noisy and people were coming in and out all night, partying, talking loud, yelling until 6 am. I asked for late check out and was told, No by the hotel, which I thought was very rude. (It was sunday, you know they have tons of rooms on sunday night because its the end of the weekend) The staff was very unfriendly and rude, except for the Valet and Bellhops, they were the only ones with manners. At the Taj Mahal they treat you like its they are doing you a favor by letting you stay there, I paid $499 for a room and I will never be going back. I have had better customer service at the Quality Inn! I would not recommend this hotel to anyone, unless you get it for free, there are plenty of other options in Atlantic City.
