Coming from many trips to above-average Vegas hotels, I was a bit skeptical of what AC had to offer. After a short weekend trip to the Tropicana I can say with some confidence that this hotel can hold its own.

Just to be clear, I dont want to say that the Trop is of the same caliber as Paris, Mirage, or Ceasars (of Vegas). It isnt. But it is pretty damn close. I would consider it the lesser cousin. Vegas-lite, perhaps.

The Quarter (the shopping/dining area) is something you would see in any of the decent Vegas strip hotels. The difference maybe being that people are still smoking as they stroll around. (Major annoyance IMO)

As for the room, it was clean, comfortable, and well worth the price.

Overall, I would say that I would say that the Trop is above average.

I expect to return this summer.

Very dissappointed, it was our 25th anniversary my husband wanted to stay at another casino I asked him if we could stay at the resorts I had heard so many good things about it.We booked the room we booked the jaccuzi room cost was 160.00 for April 9th.The next day we recived an e-mail saying that the resort had a free room for us,we were very happy, called and the room was booked for April 8. Now we were going to stay 2 days instead of one. Upon arrival we were told by Isabelle the clerk on the front desk that someone from the resort booked the 2 rooms for April 8 and nothing for April 9. She felt very bad but could do nothing about it. She then called the manager Mr Anderson to tell him about the problem. He also said he could do nothing and for us to go somewhere on the 2nd floor to solve this problem by this time I was very upset and told him he was the manager and he needed to solve I would not go to someone else. We are now there about 2 hours. He then promise us that the next day we would be able to get the original room that we booked to call downstair around 10:00 am and he would make sure it woud be taken care of. I called downstairs at 10:00am and a woman named yolanda answered the phone she said Mr Anderson was not in and there was nothing on the combutor that noted this. She also said I can;t do nothing for you and was very rude about it also. She hung the phone. Now it is my 25th anniversary and we have no where to go . We keeped walking around not knowing what to do finnally we saw Mr Anderson and he then gave us our room.I felt our anniversary was ruined because we spent most of the two days we were there either waiting in line or if we had a place to stay.

After parking in one of the parking garages we took the closest elevator up inside of the Tropicana. At this time we did not know there was a north, south, east and west tower. We thought there was just a north and south tower. We asked folks where we should check in. We ended up going to a desk in the West Tower and spoke with wonderful, and friendly "Silvia". The service while checking in was a breeze and done with a friendly smile. We checked in with our family of 3 on the 47th floor. Our room was updated, and very clean. We were happy to note we had an ocean view as well! This room was bought on a package deal and included show & breakfast for 2. We brought our younger son with us who loved the Tropicana as well (13 year old).

In the Quarter - which is all inside of the Tropicana, there are Cuban style shop fronts with cobblestone "streets" and wonderful old style store fronts. It gives a feel of being outside in an old Cuban town. There are palm trees and flickering like laterns. Cuban music is pouring into the streets with criss crossed lighting above you connecting to the "buildings" to resemble an old Cuban town. So much fun! The employees were extremely pleasant and so helpful. We enjoyed attending the show 4/11/06 called "The Rat Pack".

The morning of 4/12/06 we tried breakfast in the Fiesta Buffet. Our waiter was very friendly and helpful there as well. Every employee we came across was helpful and attentive. Our son and us enjoyed the surroundings, and the sounds, and tastes were a delight even if you were not playing in the Casinos!

The casinos were enjoyable to walk through and see the color and music with so much activity. A must do trip if you have never done it before. Highly recommended!

This hotel now compares to Las Vegas. The renovations and the beauty of it was incredible. I was lucky enough to stay in the new North Tower. Everyting was spotless, beautiful and oversized. As always, I tried room service (always do so I can let you know about it). Only ordered the chicken tender appetizer and the chocolate chunk cake. They were both super. The cake was heavenly although I didn't get why they called it "chunks" since it was a smooth fudge cake. It's true, the Trop is in the good part of town. I went out onto the boardwalk alone (after lunch) and felt completely comfortable. The only complaint I might even have (and I'd really be reaching) was that it took 30 minutes for housekeeping to deliver complimentary shaving cream.

Hey, now... If that's the worst I can come up with to gripe about, you know it was great.

My husband and I needed a quick get away from our business. On March 19 I found a great deal for the Tropicana along with a sweet deal on Spiritair. I sent an email to the hotel to inquire about transportation and got a personal call back from Yvonne. She hooked us up with the nicest room we have ever stayed in-in the N. tower, for only $69/night. Completely smoke free which was great. A king bed and huge room with the ocean out our window. It was chilly on the boardwalk but there was so much to do in the Trop that we didn't venture out much. This was on March 29-31, just 10 days after I started looking for somewhere to go. We had the buffet for breakfast both mornings and even got passes to the Rat Pack show. Loved it. We even left $80 richer after we played video poker our last 45 min there. Will defintely go back.
