My Husband and I stayed at Tropicana over the Fathers day weekend. My husband is wheelchair bound and when I had made reservations, I expressed my need for a handicap room. I will say that I was concerned that I would not be able to get what I needed but read below and see what happened.

Upon arrival, I was greeted by a very friendly doorman. He was extremely kind and helped get my luggage and wheelchair from the car. He advised me where to go and check-in and we were on our way. He was patient even though there were alot of cars in the driveway.

Upon entering the lobby, there was a line of people checking in. I was immediately pulled from the check-in line by a man who was a greeter and said he would have the next available clerk help us. He then motioned me to the next available clerk. The clerks name was Rob and he was very nice. He confirmed my request for a handicap room and offered me one in the North Tower and explained the directions to get there. I asked if the room was close and he said the that it was a bit of a walk from the front desk. He then said he would see if he could move us closer and walked over to a man dressed in a suit who was standing behind the clerks. They both came back to where I was and the man in the suit named Don said he would upgrade our room and assign us a room in the South Tower to make it easier for us. He said it would take a few moments to make the change and he thenwent about the changes to our reservations. He completed the change and handed me his business card and said to contact him if we needed anything to make the stay more comfortable. I aksed if the room had a shower chair and he said he would have a transfer chair brought to our suite immediately. Rob the completed the check-in and gave us directions to the elevators and asked if we needed luggage help. He said he would have the luggage brouyght to the room. My Husband and I were very pleased and appreciative that these two men were so kind.

We arrived at our room and were very happy with it. The bathroom was set up very well and the room itself was quite large and clean. My Husband was pleased and loved the view. About 15 minutes later, the a knock at the door meant the shower chair was here along with our luggage. The bellman John was so friendly.

After unwinding, we made our way to the casino and we had a great time though we did not win. We walked through the Quarter and thoughjt it was beautiful. We enjoyed lunch at Carmines. After a while, we asked a security guard for directions to the boardwalk and he directed us to the elevator to get my husband and the wheelchair down to the boardwalk level. His name was Devin. Later that night we enjoyed a drink and music in the lounge and turned in for the night.

All in all, we had a great time and feel that Tropicana really cares about its customers with physical challanges. The Tropicana is overwhelming in size but after a while, you find that it is quite manageable. I also did not encounter any areas that I could not get my husband and the wheelchair to.

The hotel and the staff were excellent and my husband is already wanting to return to a place he feels comfortable in. You can be sure I will let my friends know about Tropicana.

I have been to the tropicana of 4 occassions this pasy 11 months and have noticed a trend. The beautuful showroom had the worst production shows in town.
We first saw "prodigy" in Aug 04. Didn't the producer figiure out that a mostly elderly audience would find these "talented" kid annoying.
This show was an absolute sleeper, as most of the people in my row were doing 80% of the time.

The next show "Voices in My head" we will get back to at the end.

After months of waiting we get the much antisapaited Latin show.
What a dog! No story, no focus, no direction. Who thought this was a good show to put into this famous hotel?? a real stinker!

Then we were attacked by the worst impressionist that I have ever seen in my life. Finis Henderson. We were hoping that Finis would simply FINISH 20 min into the show. Not one person in the showroom laughted or could understand him. He often turned to the band saying what a ---- audience "this sucks man". The impressions were bad, his personaliity was rough and fake. though we were comped into the room, I still felt somewhat cheated, Maybe because I could have been doing something else I hated with my time like painting the barn or digging a hole.

Now it's summertime again and we go because we had heard that the "Voices" show was coming back. Magic that rocks was there. Playing to a 60 year old audience and older was a full on tired magic trick show (we've all seen the tricks and how they do it) only now we are further insulted with screaming rock music. Again, no story, no fucus, no talent.

This brings me back to the second show that was only at the trop for 4 weeks last september. Voices in my Head was the only show that worked in that great place. The star Stephen Sorrentino is a star like we don't see anymore. He's young and full of energy and talent AND has the personality and ability to light the entire room up and reach audience members of all ages.
Why has he not come back, If it aint broke dont fix it.
Soon the time will come that sorrentino and his troup of 10 dancers and a 10 member orchestra wont want to play AC and will no doubt get a long term deal in Las vegas.

Wake up Trop. Talent like that doesn't come around that often!!!

I booked a room for 2 days for our 30th Anniversary(thru the hotel 800# by the way)had a confirmation for a west tower atlantic suite, which you can only get thru calling for that type room. Well anyways we get to the checkin desk and guess what? they said the room was not available.!! i said that i had a confimation for the room and they said, get this, that does not mean that the room will be there when you arrive?..are you kidding i said.!!
I ask why they even give you a confirmation# then? I said this was our 30th anniversary and thats why i booked that room. anyways after a while the hotel night manager Ryan, who was very helpful, said he would try to get us a good room..but.!! we tryed 3 rooms checking them all out..all 3 rooms had a view of a cement wall..go figure, anyways we ended up staying at one on the bi-level suites, and i can tell you this..if you are going to pay $450.00 a night for this room, don't bother, yes he did give us the rate we were quoted for our other room. but even so the trip was needless to say a complete loss. We had stayed at this hotel a monthe before and we even made reservations thru the 800# for a room in the Havana Tower (Very Nice) so is this true that room reservatios for certin rooms depend on when you arrive and whats available? if so why have the reservation system at all. I guess we will just stay at Ballys as we usually do, at least when you make a reservation for a certin room, you get it. lastly when we did try to check in to our room the checkin lady said to us..oh its your 30th anniversary, she said yeh everybodys anniversary is today for some reason. How rude can one get. Live and lern i guess. if anyone reads this and has had the same problem please write a review.

1st off if i had to rate the hotel/casino based on what i love about hotel casinos I would rate it excellent. I love a casino/hotel that rewards it's players and has nice places to eat and drink. I'm a poker and craps player so for me I'm in paradise as there is no better poker room in ac including The Borgata which I love. Non-smoking room with plenty of tables. The only beef i have is the lousy cockail waitress service but this can be expected at every casino in AC from my experience as this is not Vegas. The Cuban restaurant, Carmines, Red Square and The Palm are all excellent and nowhere in AC can you dine like you can at the Trop. If you play, you will get comped..that simple. I have yet to pay for a meal or a room since the Havana tower went up and I'm not a high roller by any stretch. If I'm up a few hundred you might see me jump to a $25 table tops otherwise i'm in the poker room or at a $10-15 craps table... I just log my hours which gets me rewarded. Even if you just played poker you earn comps. As far as the rooms go I agree w/ most here.....they suck...plain and simple. For the $$ they put into the quarter they should spend a few bucks on the rooms for the paying customers who should get a little something for their $$. For me I'm only in there for a 4 hour nap so as long as there's a matress, toilet and it doesnt stink I'm happy. If you are traveling w/ youre lady, guy or whatever and looking to impress...definitely go the The Borgata as they have the best rooms in AC hands down and the closest thing to Vegas in AC. If you are w/ friends, bachelor/ette party, or just a player etc., there's no place like The Trop for the gaming, entertainment/nightlife and dining. Feel free to email w/ me w/ any questions. Just returned from a Fathers Day stay. We went expecting a good time and this stay exceeded our expectations.

From the moment we arrived we were impressed with the friendliness of the staff. Everyone seemed to genuinely care for the customers and the staff was everywhere constantly cleaning or offering dir4ections to customers. I will say the hotel was very crowded.

While waiting in line to check-in, we were very suprised that the line moved very fast. Within 15 minutes were were on our way to our upgraded room in the Havana Tower. (upgraded for free) The agent at check-in was efficient and friendly. I noticed managers several carefully watching the staff as the lines were processed. The Havana Tower was a hike from the front desk thats for sure.

The room in the Havana Tower had a great view. We were very pleased to see the ocean and the room was in good condition. The housekeepers were friendly. The shopping arcade was very elaborate (felt like we were in Vegas) and the choices were plentiful. We enjoyed the IMAX movie and dining at TSOP. Great food for sure.

Upon checkout, we were informed that we were able to have our car that was valet parked delivered to the Havan Tower. This sure saved alot of walking and added to the enjoyment of the stay.

Will we come back? Definitely. We truly enjoyed the experience and look forward to returning.
