My fiance and I stayed at the Tropicana on May 27th and had a great time. I booked the room directly through the website and upon check-in, we were immediately upgraded to the Havana Tower when I mentioned it was my fiance's birthday. Also, check-in took 5 minutes and it was Memorial Day weekend! The room was pretty nice, but nothing out of the ordinary. However, the bathroom was fairly large and very nice. My fiance and I ate dinner at the buffet, which was pretty decent. We also had tickets for the Comedy Stop that night and were given the best table there! (front row-center). The show was great and we would definitely go again. My fiance and I are not huge gamblers, so most of our time was spent at the slot machines. This is where I thought the Tropicana lacked a little bit---they need a better variety of slot machines with more bonuses and chances to win. (ex. very few slot machines where you can win on multiple pay lines). However, we did win about $200 on the nickel machines. We played Roulette for a little while, but found that there really were not enough tables available for the amount of people who wanted to play. Also, the minimums were a little high, but it was a weekend so that may have been normal. As we were leaving, we ate at Hooters which was great. If you go to the Tropicana, definitely walk around the Quarter because there are multiple shops and restaurants there. All in all, we had a great time. We thought the staff was very friendly and enjoyed the hotel atmosphere. We would definitely go back!

I stayed at the tropicana for 1 night with family in the beginning of May. From the moment we arrived at the tropicana, we really enjoyed it. We stayed at the havana tower, which is there brand new tower. The rooms were a little small, but were very nice and clean. There new section, called the Quarter, was very nice. It has many shops and nice restaurants for any desire. We ate at Corkys BBQ, which was incredible. It is a little pricy, but it was worth it. It was the best BBQ i have ever had. The casino was big, and had some cool lookin slot machines. There were only a couple of downsides. One was that nobody told us how to get to the havana tower, so we were stuck walking around the hotel for a long time while holding our luggage. Once that was solved, there really werent many other problems except for the fact that this hotel is at the end of the boardwalk, making it hard to go to other hotels without walking alot. But overall, we really enjoyed this hotel and would recommend it to anyone.

First they lost our first reservation.
Second I made another reservation to the Havana tower. When we got there we check in and we paid our deposit in cash and when we were checking out we noticed that they charged us 50 dollars extra for that horrible room. The bed was hard, the fridge was not working and it was disgusting. The casino was horrible too. Those machines paid you nothing. they are very tight. The machines are old and they seem to have problems taking your ticket I am never going back to the tropicana again. The only nice thing is the quater and the movie theater was cool. Next time i am going back to the borgata or trump.

Our trip started out bad from the minute we got off of the airplane in AC. The airport taxi people were very pushy and ignorant. They were trying to take my bags before we even accepted their offer to take us to the Trop. They explained how stupid it was to take the "yellow van" to the hotel when it was more expensive. Let me just say, the yellow van people are worth the extra $3 per person. It is a mush friendlier ride and they are very helpful if it is your first time there.
Our first impression was how dirty everything looked. The boardwalk would be ok in the summer months but all around the hotels is very dirty.
On to the hotel! Our check in was pretty smooth, although if you think you might want to upgrade your room while you are there, DO NOT book through expedia as the hotel will not do it. Our room was on the 11th floor in the North tower. We only had a view of other buildings but the king bed room was very spacious and fairly clean. I can't imagine the hotel before the Quarter as it is its only highlight among the other casinos. The spa is WONDERFUL!! It is acutally the only "store" that will say hello when you go inside. Carmines is wonderful and gives you PLENTY of food in one serving for 3-4 people.
The casino, as well as the hotel, is soooo far from Vegas standards that they should not even be compared to one another. The closest in comparison is the Borgata. The Tropicana's casino is lacking so much that they just need to start over. You may get a waitress every hour or so and if you drink beer, I hope you like a couple shots of Old Milwaukee's Best as that is the ONLY beer available and it is in a little plastic cup. No bottle drinks allowed at the table...they will make you throw them away. The waitress's are very rude and we were tipping well. Most of the dealers are pretty fun but the pit bosses are awful. We had been at a table for 1 1/2 hours and had not seen a waitress, we asked the pit boss if he might could find one for us and he told us to get up and go get it ourselves. We traveled in a group of 6 and we combined spent about $15k gambling and we only received less than $150 in comps combined. You definately get more comps in the slot area but it still barely will buy you dinner for one night. One lady in our party played blackjack a total of about 24 hours or more and only received $60 in comps. There were very few instances of coming across nice people. Good luck finding a BJ table under $25 on the weekend and it is even tough to get one of those...at any casino. From now on, we will go to Vegas as it is the same amount of money. There you get your rear kissed no matter how much you gamble instead of kicked even when you are spending alot of money.
I am one of those people who look to the bright side of everything but this is a vacation that we never thought would end. If you must go to AC, the Tropicana is OK. The Wild Wild West is a fun casino atmosphere. If you are used to rudeness all around, ( people bumping into you and not saying excuse me, line for the elevator with people in wheelchairs waiting and as soon as the doors open people run in front of the wheelchair people, leaving no room for them ) then Atlantic City might be fun for you. But if you are used to the majority of people being atleast semi-nice, Go to Vegas. You won't waste your money there and you will bring more home! One dealer got 7 blackjacks in a row in AC....what are the odds???

First time to Atlantic City New Jersey, We flew into Philadelphia, rented a car and drove into Atlantic city, stopping at theTourist Center, total drive was about one hour long and pleasant. You will pay tolls but the roads are well maintained and worth it
Check in for the Tropicana starts around 1:30 p.m. and you can pick one of five lines to wait in unless your a premium member which has another line and more help. We waited about 30-40 minutes to check in. Suggest you wait until late afternoon to check in, lines are smaller. Most of the desk employees are friendly and try to please you with rooms and views.
If you drive and valet park or self park you will pay $4.00 for parking. Hotel guest do not get free parking at any of the hotels on the strip.
We ate at Corkys, and Hooters, which had good food, and browsed the shopping mall. called the Quarter, and the boardwalk outside. Make sure you go to the promotions center and get your coupon book. We had tickets to the Finis Henderson show, and strongly suggest everyone to see this show....it was excellant.
They have three ways to check out which is very good, but only one
desk for paying your parking fee, and when leaving with everyone else
expect to wait 30 minutes for your car if you valet park
Hotel wasn't bad prices vary so wait for a good deal
