“Run down - doesn't deserve the 3.5 star rating”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed October 8, 2013

This hotel is featured on most sites as 3.5/5 stars and, as such, competes with some some-what upscale properties. However, the Trump Plaza has seen better days. The casino facilities seemed okay - but the hotel hallways and rooms were very tired and run down. Our first room wasn't clean (hair on the bed, silverware in the mini fridge). The second room was slightly better, but was also very worn down. Looking out of the window unto the locked/closed balcony, you could see pieces of the balcony missing (especially the balcony above ours). The hotel itself seemed very understaffed for a weekend and we had to wait 30-45 minutes to check-in and about the same to check out.

I previously stayed at the Trump Taj in AC, and that seemed to be a much better property (definitely better managed and a lot cleaner).

If you're getting a great deal and are here for a party or just to gamble, I wouldn't necessarily discourage people from booking this hotel. But if you're planning to be in the room for any time at all, I would definitely pass on it. The only advantages of this hotel is the location (in the center of the boardwalk) and lower minimums on most casino games.

Also - even if you're a smoker - don't get a smoking room. Those seem to be in the worst condition and even the staff suggested not getting it.

Room Tip: Even if you're a smoker - don't get a smoking room. Those seem to be in the worst condition...

Hotel was ok and parking was free. The rooms were really clean and the casino was nearby. Check in was not hectic however the lobby is really far to get to. I would stay there again as it was very cheap yet clean and comfortable. Not many staff ....

Just returned from a one night Saturday stay at the Trump Plaza in Atlantic City. After reading some of the reviews, I was not quite sure what to expect, but having stayed in Atlantic City in another hotel which was awful and having stayed at the Trump Plaza a few years ago I decided to take a chance and was quite satisfied. The front desk was friendly and welcoming upon our arrival. We were able to check in early without paying an extra fee. No wait to check in. We had two rooms in the Plaza Tower which was easily accessible from the lobby. The rooms were clean and comfortable. I could not find anything to complain about and after my last experience in Atlantic City I looked! The bathroom was spotless and clean. The beds were comfortable and cozy. Our rooms had ocean views so it was so peaceful to sit and look out the window and see the beach. We were on the 16th floor. We did not hear any noise at night from other guests. All of the staff members we met were courteous and so helpful. We ate a late lunch at the 24 Central Cafe which is only open on weekends. Glad to have a Starbuck's in the hotel. Liked that the casino floor was on a different floor from the lobby. Based on this experience I would most likely book this hotel again over the other hotels in Atlantic City.

Room Tip: Book Ocena View rooms in the Plaza Tower

We just spent a night at Trump Plaza and although there were some good points, we were disappointed overall. The bed was comfortable and the living space was clean. The bathroom was clean with the exception of the shower which had some mold on the ceiling and on the tiles. The room had no ironing board which seemed to surprise the staff when we asked them to bring one to the room. The room was also missing the guest directory so we called to verify what time we had to checkout only nobody answered the guest services phone. The room had a coffee pot in it but no coffee, tea, sugar, etc.

We checked in at 2PM on Saturday and that only took 10 minutes so that was a good point. Our room also had a nice ocean view so that was another good point.

Considering the number of options in AC, I would recommend passing on Trump Plaza.

Room Tip: Ask for an ocean view room

I stayed at Trump Plaza Sept 2013 for one night in a deluxe ocean view. What a joke. The windows were so dirty you could barely see the ocean. Then the air cond was hopeless, these tiny little openings that just didn't pump out much air.
Buffet and all restuarants exlcuding one were closed (I stayed on a Wed), ended up at Hooters for a hot dog!
Woudln't recommend it to anyone.
Looks like since he's selling he doesn't care for the proptery.
Casino staff were great.

Stayed here for two nights. The good: ocean view, reasonable price, attractive lobby, firm bed. The bad: pool closed Tuesday through Thursday and of course we were there Tuesday through Thursday. Buffet closed....same thing. Lampshade outside our door was broken and continued to be broken and no one seemed to care. There was only one outlet in the room that was accessible to use for charging things and half of that receptacle didn't work so if you wanted to use it to charge something you couldn't turn the lamp on. Furniture needed to be moved to get to another one! The furniture in the room was very worn and had many scrapes and obvious damage. The TV was obviously older and the reception was poor. Getting from the rooms to the casino was really convoluted and there was no way to get from the check in desk to the elevators to go to the rooms unless you first went up a tall set of escaltors. The layout was certainly not good. The ugly: toilet seat was peeling, the tub was REALLY peeling and mold on the ceiling in the tub area. The carpeting in all the elevators (East Tower) was dirty and disgusting. Not a good first impression to the rooms. I've posted some photos. This hotel is in need of major renovations. I believe this hotel was built in 1984 and by the look of things it hasn't been rennovated since then......nearly 30 years. It needs updating big time. Given the price, if you can look past all this, by all means stay there. Next door is Ceasars and two doors down is Bally's, perhaps better choices.

Room Tip: I'm not sure there are any good rooms. Talking to the desk clerk, she agreed the entire place w...

I read all the previous reviews and against my better judgement took a chance booking here. We were meeting up in AC with 2 other couples staying here. Front desk was not helpful, rooms were not to my liking for what we payed to stay, they could use a lo of help The view of the beach was the nicest thing about the hotel. Parking was free. The casino was deserted, very few restaurants were opened. The gym was closed for renovation. If you get a good deal to stay here just make sure to spend most of your awake time somewhere else.
