It is with much trepidation that I reccommend this hotel to anyone wanting to travel to Atlantic City. I've read all the other reviews about this hotel being a "dump" and being dirty and being unfriendly.

This was not the case with my four night stay. But I think it depends entirely upon where you are given a room in this hotel. We showed up at the Trump Plaza at 11:00 AM on the morning that we were to check-in. I just wanted to enquire about keeping our luggage safe until we could check in later - but we were given our room at that time just because one happened to be available on a high floor of the main tower. It was lovely. The floor was extremely quiet; the view was ocean front and the room was fairly brand new.

Squeaky clean and very comfortable is how I can honestly describe this room. We had no complaints whatsoever.

The front desk staff were efficient and professional. The maids and bell staff were very friendly and helpful.

The casino and the hotel in general were also well kept and spotless.

I guess it all depends upon exactly WHERE they put you in this hotel. If there are rooms that are not up to par, I was not aware of them.

I would definitely stay here again - and perhaps ask for the floor that I KNOW is lovely.

I will not stay here again because I came for business and the high speed internet connection they have costs $12 a day!! That's more than most hotels charge. In addition, you can only use the internet connection if you sit on your bed since the wire is connected in the wall by the bedstand which means after a while you can get a backache. They have a table and desk on the OTHER side of the room but choose to put their internet connection by the beds with a very short wire.

Another negative point is that they charge you $15 a day just to use the gym there! Their main restaurant is also very expensive with most entrees more than $20!

Well here goes.... I love to go to AC at least every 6 weeks, and I always stay at The Plaza. Yes it is a bit dated, but usually I have a wonderful time, but lately its changing and I dont think its for the best. I see alot of new faces at guest services, and not all have a pleasnt personality. Guest Services can make or break a visit to Atlantic City. We did arrive early Sunday ( about 2 PM) and checked in , were told the room wasnt ready but it would be finished about 3 PM.. We checked our luggage and went to the Casino. About an hour later we went to Guest Services to pick up the keys to our (2)rooms and were told the rooms wouldnt be ready until 4PM . My mom who is elderly (79) was getting tired and wanted to rest a bit after the almost 4 hour ride to get there. I guess my mom seemed to look upset to the girl that was taking care of us , then the girl said .....it is Sunday, and you know check in is not until 6 PM.! I couldn't believe it.. I thanked her and moved over a few feet to the next person at the desk and explained I was worried about my mom, and she needed to rest a bit , but the room was not yet ready. I asked if she could change the rooms to something that was ready now and she checked on the computer and she found a room that was ready then and gave it to my mom and got me a room close to her (not ajoining) but close enough.. The difference between the two girls was like night and day. Even though the start of the stay was awful with a rude employee. The second girl was wonderful.. It only takes one rotten employee to almost ruin a getaway.. but thanks to a great girl who helped us, made it so much better. I really like the Plaza regardless of all the bad reviews, I just hope they hold on to the really great workers they have had for a long time and check deeper into the new people they hire to represent the Hotel.

The Trump Plaza is a massive hotel with over the top gilt and glitz. Reception was gracious and fast. We arrived at 3:30, knowing check in wasn't until 4pm. The receptionist told us that even though room was not quite ready (about 15 minutes away from being done) we were welcome to drop off our things while the maid finished. I found that to be exceptionally courteous. Nice sized oceanview room with 2 full size beds and a decent sized bathroom. Mattresses very comfy; but there was only one rock-hard-foam pillow per full size bed and housekeeping never brought more as they promised. The bathroom was disgustingly dirty: a gorilla must have stayed there previously. How could the room cleaner have missed it all? Gross. It took housekeeping a long time to come back up, an inconvenience since we needed to take showers to start our evening. When the maid finally made it, she still didn't get all of the 'fur' off of the floor. Why don't they vacuum?? I feel qualified to complain because we paid $425 for this room (holiday weekend). We didn't order food at the hotel, but did get coffee at a Starbucks two doors down, another bonus to the Plaza's location. The Beach Bar across the boardwalk is a must-go-to on a nice day though the casino bar was a dud. (the casino bar at the Trump Taj is much more fun....walk the long ten blocks, or take a taxi for $8-10). And, warning to those who still smoke: cigs in the hotel gift shop are more than ten dollars a pack, so stock up before you come or hit the chain drugstore on Atlantic Ave a couple of blocks south.
