we have stayed at a few places in atlantic city : ballys, holiday inn, ect.
this time we tryed to save a little money and being july 4th weekend we went for the super 8 (we stayed in one in florida it was comfortable)
so i went for it ,the prices at the others for a place to sleep was crazy.this being 3 weeks ahead and not alot of time.
i had read the other reviews and wasnt sure to try it, but went for it with a total of $500.00 from sat noon thru tues morning.
we arrived and yes the street its on was run down but close to the board walk 2 - 3 minute walk, there is a bar across the street ( no noise or problems)one 2 doors down, the pick inni( a hole in the wall ,no problems) and irish pub across the way( wish we went but no time ,heard from others on boardwalk it was nice)
we got in early ( 1-2 pm) check in was 4 pm no problem, but when we said we have reservation they looked at each other like what?? but after a few minutes they figured it out i guess (they talk english but broken)
i had a reserve number they didnt ask for.
they, i think anyway changed our room because the man had a card then gave it to the women and then she went to the machine and gave us other cards which was to the back of the hotel. they asked how many nights i said 3 , which they should have know but that as ok(in back of hotel, nice houses across the street made up for july 4th. quiet)room 220. he asked how we were going to pay we said well we gave you a credit card on the phone he asked to have the card to run it, we did.at this time i started to think it was a mistake to stay here ,but he gave us 2 cards for the room and off we went. we got the suitcases and the parking is tight, yes u have to enter through the lobby, if thats what u call it.
the smell is cheap cleaning fluid with a scent ,they do make better ones but i guess it keeps the price down. the elevator needs help, painted gray over the old name and jumps abit but runs.
we went through a walkway and to the other (back)side which had a cleaning cart in the way so it was hard to get past it with the suitcases ,the girl just smiled...
the room had a small refrig, ac , bed ,bathroom, tv ,sitting table, draws for clothes, it was ok for a place to sleep for the weekend, nothing more.
i have to say the first time i flushed the toilet, i almost hit the ceiling, the noise and force scared me. i made a joke which is true, if i were sitting on it at the time i`d be sucks in. good pressure i guess. shower was ok too. they dont give alot of motel trinkets so bring shower & toileties. they gave maybe a soap and 2 sample shampoos ,towels thats it.
when they clean the room they shut off the ac so it can get warm, they ask for u to be energy conscience on the bathroom mirror....but it cooled the room ok in a few minutes
i dont think they changed the sheets either. thats sat thru tues.
oh the housekeepers leave a envelope for a tip with the name
housekepr (?)on it, i did leave a little something and did have the ac on low when i got back ;) just don ask them any questions , they dont know..
we were out the first day then got a call late the next day asking our car make and where we are from. i told them asked if everything ok they said yes, then went down to ask why. they said we were checking on the cars
i said we have the card in the front dash so why the call if thats what we were to do , no real answer i checked the car.. no problem. card in dash , it didnt say ny but cadillac was on it and it was a cadillac hellooooo....with ny plates.
when you walk by the front desk ,no hello, good morning , nothing. the last day i said morning on the way out for early breakfast before leaving by 11am and i did get a hi.
by the way bread sticks for breakfast is huge and cheap, everything comes with it , potato, toast . very nice waitresses every morning i think its at the resorts just past beachball.go to the boardwalk turn left walk maybe 4-5 minutes very nice...
they did have a pool kids in it at 9am, very blue looking water ???
anyway it was ok to stay there with some small problems : close , cheap, but for a place to sleep for a weekend it fit the bill...
