We arrived at the Atlantic Palace Hotel on May 1 as we were celebrating our wedding anniversary. I want to go over in detail why we will NEVER return. First of all check in time is 4 PM and you must be out by 11 AM, which gives you a full 19 hours in this hell hole. We got there around 2:30 and got the car parked in the parking garage. We were lucky enough to get in the garage itself and not in the "open" lot next to it. We were told not to move the car because if we lost a space in there we'd have to take a spot in the open lot. After this we set out on the boardwalk to the nearest casino which by the way is several blocks away. We got back to the hotel a few minutes before 4 PM and were told to wait until 4 PM because then all the rooms would be ready. Yeah right, they just don't allow any early checkins even if it's only a few minutes. Finally we got in just a couple minutes after 4 PM, after being told at 3:58 the room was still not ready. We stayed in room 2005 on the 20th. floor. The room was small, and had no queen sized bed as described on line. It's basically a hotel room with a sofa and small kitchen area thrown in. The "Jacuzzi" was a larger size tub, in the bathroom and looked old and not very clean. There are no clocks in the rooms. There are only two small pillows on the bed and no extra pillows in the closet. There is no hotel information or area information at all. We had to weed through the yellow pages to find a place to have dinner as the front desk only pointed out a dump on the boardwalk to my husband. There isn't even a pad or pen by the phone in your room. The TV was about as big as my laptop computer and placed on the window sill by the bed. Now the best part, including tax, we paid $233 for this room!!!! Save your money! We had to take a cab to dinner, a cab to the casino and a cab home because we were afraid to move our car out of the garage into the "free for all" lot. This cost us an additional $30. Oh, and you can't enter the hotel from the boardwalk until you have your hotel key, the doors are locked I guess to keep out all the criminals. So you have to walk all the way around to the hotel entrance on the other side. This really doesn't make you feel the hotel is in a safe part of town. We got back from dinner and it was around 8 PM. There was a rather large "family" in 2004 with a kid screaming, banging,, door slamming and yelling. This went on to 10:30 PM and finally I called security. At 11 PM there was no change so my husband called again. They said they had sent someone up but they didn't hear anything so they never bothered to check it out. Couldn't hear anything? I don't know how you could have missed it. Heck, you could hear it rooms away from the hall, not to mention between the thin room walls! Finally, 15 minutes later, two elderly men knocked on our door and stated they were Security. They said this time they heard the noise next door and were going to check it out. We heard them knock and it remained quiet until they left, a good 3 minutes, and then it all started up again. At 11:45 PM my husband had it and we packed up to leave. I gave the hotel keys to the front desk while my husband got the car. There was 1 clerk on duty whose first comment to me was, "let me guess, your hotel keys don't work, right?" and when I told him why we were checking out after only a few hours having paid $233 and it being our Wedding Anniversary he said "so the room was ok? It was just the commotion next door"? I said yes, there were animals next door and I'd called Security twice and nothing changed. All he then asked was, "you didn't make any telephone calls did you?" I looked at him disgusted and said "NO". He said, sorry I had to ask in case of billing. I can't tell you how disgusted this whole experience made me. My husband then got on the road for our long drive home. So, we paid $233 for just under 8 hours at the hotel and were forced to leave due to the room next door and the unending noise, yelling and door slamming. We didn't get offered any compensation and the hotel couldn't of cared less what happened to us and the fact we had to check out in just a few hours on our wedding anniversary. This was just an example of zero customer service and a hotel that is motivated only by money and not the service to its guests. Stay away from this dump, far away!!!!!
