My wife and I, who stay frequently at Showboat, are surprised at the recent negative reviews on this site. We have always found our stays at Showboat to be delightful and fun. We were last there from 6/25-28/06 when we took my mother to Atlantic City to celebrate her 80th birthday. We are not Diamond or Platimun cardholders - just plain Goldcard people - but our rooms were comped for the entire stay.. Our rooms in the Orleans Tower were spacious, beautiful and extremely comfortable - plus they had a great ocean view. We found the security staff to be courteous and pleasant - frequently greeting us as we walked through the lobby and/or the casino. The staff at check-in were cheery and polite to us - which we consider a minor miracle given that many of the guests at check-in were pushy and rude. We enjoyed the Buffet (as always) and even took part in the "Family Feud" show which was a lot of fun. The only criticism we have is that the lines to the Mansion Cafe for breakfast were always too long and time-consuming. We are surprised that a place of this size does not have more than one nice restaurant for breakfast. But the food and service there were fine, once we were seated. We also found the slots to be a lot looser than in the past. . . .as a matter of fact, all three of us won decent money on various machines, so that our dinners and other expenses were all paid for! Showboat might not be the Borgata or Caesars, but you get a great experience and lcoation for much less than other AC casino establishments.

Years back we were very frequent quests of the showboat. It has certainly changed. Upon check in we were told that the room we requested was not available. Mind you we had made this reservation 6 weeks prior. Anyway, we had no choice but to take what was available without any compensation for the inconvenience. the old showboat would have comped or upgraded us for something like this. the next day our room was not cleaned untill 5:oo p.m. I made two phone calls/complaints to finally get this done. our room service breakfast dishes were also still in the room since 7:00 a.m. that morning. UGH! We had no clean towels to shower in order to go out to dinner that night. (there were 4 of us). I had to go out in the hall and take them off the cart myself. We were told that they clean the rooms for the incoming guests...first. so the current guests have to stay in an uncleaned room with no clean towels, etc till 5:00???? How ridiculous!

we received an insincere apology and that was it.....again.......no compensation for that inconvenience either, except i must say that for the rest of our stay our room was cleaned very early. The old showboat would have at least given us a free meal for an inconvenience such as this. And I DID ask. They said NO!!! They offered us a late checkout. that was it. A late check out? we wanted to get out of there as early as possible!!!!!

the Casino was very, very noisy; the music was way too loud. you couldn't have a conversation if you wanted too. and wear a sweater or two! Brrrr! Ridicuously cold. Beverage person? Be ready to wait a while.

We didn't eat in any of the resaurants in the hotel so i can't comment on the food except to say that our one breakfast room service was just fair.

The pool hasn't changed in 15 years. it's the same small round pool that they built when they first opened. it's cute, but certainly does not accomodate the amount of hotel guests, especially with the newer tower added on. it was very, very crowded. will we stay there again? NO!!!! It looks like our showboat days are behind us. The OLD showboat is long gone. :0(

My husband and I were looking for a new experience in AC and we got one. At check-in we waited and waited while Diamond card members were taken time and time again ahead of us. It would not have been so bad if each desk clerk took guests one at a time and took care of them.If the desk clerk would have stayed in one spot and took care of the growing line of goldcard members, the line may have moved.. The retaurant situation was terrible. My husband and I got into the gold card line and we waited and waited for a seat. We were told that diamond card members come first. The line did not move because the diamond card line contiuously filled up. One man in front of us marched off in a huff, and rightly so. We have never been treated in this manner before. When Showboat first opened we were frequent guests. We then tried different casinos and after a long time we decided to return to the Showboat to see how it had changed. It had changed but for the worst. Remember money is green not gold silver or diamond and our green money is going elsewhere.

I am a frequent casino player, ac/vegas/new orleans/reno..most always stay in a harrah's property. My favorite for ac has always been Showboat. My wife, who does not partake in casino action, likes the Pelican Lounge and the Boardwalk. Went there on a Sat. evening and booked for one night. VIP was very professional. Had a room in the :"new" read, renovated, Orleans Tower...only two elevators out of four were working. As we were on the 19th floor every time we were on it looked like a circus clown car..no signage apologizing for shortage...dealers were surly, pit bosses seemed very overstressed. I believe this all reflects on the enjoyment the players have. I am a Diamond level player and usually attract the attention of a pit boss, not Saturday nite..There were several errors in judgement by staff. Pelican Lounge"s computer did not register my account..Had to go to Total Rewards...Coffee Shop told me I had only $7.00 of comp balance..Have well over 100000 points.....had to go to Total Rewards to get that cleared up...They have established a new hi stakes room, nice, but the reason they did it was to seperate it from the Asian room..Right, separate area....somewhat un PC...for the non Asian...casino bathrooms were filthy..have never seen this before...very disappointed..told my hostess, may try one more time than...if no improvement, I will see you at Ceaser's

I always stay at the Showboat. I usually get a comped room or at the casino rate. My last two visits I stayed in the Bourbon Tower since most of the room are being remodeled. I was there from May 31st to June 4th. I had a king room with a plasma flat screen TV. It was hugh and the picture on it was really sharp. The bed was so comfortable. It reminded me of a pillow-top mattress. The room was decorated in the latest design. Nice clean lines. There was a couch, table, chair, desk w/chair, refrigerator and safe. It also had a coffee maker too. The bathroom was roomy and had double sinks. The room was very clean and neat. I had a wonder view of the ocean.

I always ask for a newly remodeled room when I go to the Showboat or any hotel. That way I can make sure I am staying in the most updated room they have.

The slots seemed to be looser this time. Normally they are pretty tight. They have a new bar area that just opened up across from the bourbon street elevators. They make the best apple martinis I ever had. If you play the video poker machines your drinks are free. The music there is appropriate for the various times of day. The front desk staff is more friendly now since the big conversion of Cesears, Bally's and Harrahs.

The only drawback to this hotel is that they do not have a business office so that I can use the internet. They do have the internet in the room on TV but I find it doesn't suit my needs and it is quite slow. Also security is not seen often in the hotel. Anyone can go up to your room or follow you. They need to have security at the elevators checking room keys especially at night.

As always I will always stay at the Showboat as long as they are affiliated with Harrahs.
