Been going to Showboat for years and it used to be the best spot to stay and play and eat in Atlantic City. Now its just a stressful place to be. The casino, where I spend a great deal of time, used to be light and airy and relaxing. Now its dark, dank, closed in, a zoo-like atmosphere, where the music (and sometimes 2 different songs playing at once) is louder than loud and just when you think your ears will blow off your head from the loudness -- they turn it up even louder. The employees used to be amazingly helpful and fun to deal with. Now they're very unhappy, nasty, and adversarily, whether they're at the cashier Diamond window, at the Diamond Total Rewards desk, at the buffet; even security that used to be amazing, now seems untrained and turns their heads to any responsibility and is abrasive. Suppose there's less staff because now the beverage servers are frequently too busy to take your order (whether you're dressed to the hilt and pay good tips or not) -- and it could take 2 hours to get a cup of coffee). The oriental soup bar on weeknights will try everything in the book not to serve anyone who's not oriental -- they make sure to let you know in many ways they don't want you eating there. If you do stay at Showboat, which has some beautiful, comfortable rooms, make sure to play and eat somewhere else.

We stayed on Saturday, April 29, and for the $350/night rate, we were VERY displeased, to say the least! We arrived around 6pm...check-in was pretty smooth. Upon booking, however, we were promised a room with a view, and were a little upset when we were put on the 8th floor overlooking the top of a building. That was our only view. We did not have a chance to ask for another room, though, because we had to quickly shower and head out to be at a party. This became a problem , though, because the tub did not drain! It took about 1 hour to drain the water every time someone took a shower. This was especially distrubing because we were in a rush, and were forced to shower in eachother's dirty water. After we finally showered, I tried to use the hair dryer, only to find that it was literally cracked in half. Needless to say, it did not work at all. The pillows and linens were probally 15 years old, and the room was not that clean, and pretty much every view for the rooms on the 12th floor and below were overlooking the garbage that clutters AC. Outside, while waiting for our car, it was very windy, and we were literally being hit in the face with a whirlwind of garbage that was all over the entrance to the hotel.

In short, stay somewhere else! Resorts and Ceasar's are beautiful from what I hear. We had friends staying in both the night we were there, and they raved about their hotels. AND...they each paid about $100 less than we did!

We always stay at Showboat when we go to Atlantic City. The rooms are excellent.
The only problem is all the smoke on the casino floor. I know there is a good filtration system, but when you sit next to a person who is smoking and you have asthma, believe me its no fun at all.
The is the only problem we had. the staff and the service is great. We wouldn't stay anywhere else.

Me and my boyfriend stay here all the time and we love it. The staff is always friendly, the food is excellent and we always have a great time. We always stop into the noodle bar when we are here, the food is out of this world, always busy there, and a nice quiet small place. If you go try everything I can't say I've ever ate a bad meal here, the food comes out very quickly and very good. I look forward to going just to stop there and want it for all three meals of the day!!! Wonderful, authentic food, filling and best of all not expensive for a casino place!
