Been going to Showboat for years and it used to be the best spot to stay and play and eat in Atlantic City. Now its just a stressful place to be. The casino, where I spend a great deal of time, used to be light and airy and relaxing. Now its dark, dank, closed in, a zoo-like atmosphere, where the music (and sometimes 2 different songs playing at once) is louder than loud and just when you think your ears will blow off your head from the loudness -- they turn it up even louder. The employees used to be amazingly helpful and fun to deal with. Now they're very unhappy, nasty, and adversarily, whether they're at the cashier Diamond window, at the Diamond Total Rewards desk, at the buffet; even security that used to be amazing, now seems untrained and turns their heads to any responsibility and is abrasive. Suppose there's less staff because now the beverage servers are frequently too busy to take your order (whether you're dressed to the hilt and pay good tips or not) -- and it could take 2 hours to get a cup of coffee). The oriental soup bar on weeknights will try everything in the book not to serve anyone who's not oriental -- they make sure to let you know in many ways they don't want you eating there. If you do stay at Showboat, which has some beautiful, comfortable rooms, make sure to play and eat somewhere else.
