Stayed at the ShowBoat from September 7 - 15/08 on the 14th floor of the Bourbon Tower and must say we were both well pleased with the room, cleanliness, amenities, staff professionalism, lounges and the restaurants. Our view of the Atlantic was a great wake up each morning and the weather definately cooperated. A problem with the in room safe was quickly and efficiently corrected by the on duty lock smith within 1/2 hour of reporting the problem. The housekeeping staff were prompt and restocked towels, coffee etc each day. The pool was closed despite the hot humid weather until the weekend so this was a bit of a disappointment. We visited the lounges and found the bartenders to be excellent. Club Worship's visit would have been longer but the limited seating made our visit shorter. We had the opportunity to visit the Foundation room and were quite impressed with the overall appearance. This lounge is not typical of any others I have visited. Check in was handled quickly and the staff at the front desk was courteous and quick to answer questions. We had read some of the previous reports and were a bit concerned but we are both glad that we decided to draw our own conclusions. We have no hesitation in recommending this vacation location to all couples.

  • Liked — Great view of the Atlantic Ocean and cleanliness of the room and hotel in general!
  • Disliked — The far point on the boardwalk means a great deal of walking and more opportunity for the "salesmen" for condominiums to harass you!

Great Experience! The Showboat honored our request for early check in and ocean view. Overly Friendly staff. Good restaurants and strong drinks. The place is spotlessly clean. It is at the quieter end of the boardwalk which is really good too.

One Recomendation- My friends and I are 21/22 yearolds. We went on a Wednesday-Thursday. Not a big young crowd or club scene happening. I'd suggest going on weekends now that it is out of season. Many senior citizens were there. And if you are looking for a good night out, Hit up The Pool at Harrah's or Mixx or Mur Mur at Borgata. Those are the happening places.

But overall great experience!

Was told by marketing host I would be reimbursed for 1/2 my airfare from texas. Never received a dime. Host told me (after i returned home) that money was at the "main cage". No one ever informed me of this. Never saw "host" during my entire visit. Asked host via e-mail to have "showboat" mail the check to me. Host replied "showboat doesn't mail checks."

Have written Harrah's c.e.o. -and am ready to go to small claims court over this.

Avoid Harrah's and "Showboat" and their crooked dishonest marketing reps!

We stayed at S.B. the 28th, Thursday for 1 night. The wait 4 check-in took about 10 mins and we were ready 2 fight with them because they deny a lot of ppl the bourbon tower even when they pay extra 4 it as we did, but all was ok. Our room was 1815, the hallway smelled noticeably of smoke even though we said non-smoking. The room smelled like cleaning products 4 the first few hrs. and then cleared up. The quality of them room was good. All furniture is granite topped which made a significant difference. The bathroom was also good but the shower head was very low, this seems 2 b common in both showboat towers. (If u r over 5'8, u will b pretty uncomfortable). Also, the toilet does not have it's own space like the newer towers, (this 1 was renovated last year). There was a noticeable stain on the carpet between the 2 beds but the rest was good, big t.v. and good view. I remember reading online that the french quarter buffet was closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays but that was in February and thought it was cuz of slow business but that is still in effect. We went over 2 the pool, it was just OK because it was small in size and 2 cold 2 swim in, later some1 brought their granddaughter who was in a wheelchair and put her in the pool which was nice because i know they feel free in water but then she kept putting snots in the water and we left. We didn't play the casino but we did walk the boardwalk up 2 the central pier 2 the go-carts. We did all the dining in Borgata's buffet, which IS the overall the best 1. Harrah's dinner is on par though, just not the brunch they serve. On the boardwalk, the Virginia City buffet in WWW is the best, BUT the only good 1, trust me. Overall, it was OK but we will keep trying other hotels simply because that's our goal (2 stay at all the casinos). We have yet 2 stay at Bally's and Caesar's, all the others we did. If u r looking to go to A.C., i would strongly NOT recommend the following: Hilton, Tropicana - West and Havana towers, Claridge tower at Bally's, Ocean Tower at Resort's, Orleans Tower at ShowBoat, and the Trump Plaza. =)

  • Liked — Quality of the room
  • Disliked — They can't offer better rooms, besides the unsold suites in the bourbon.

We arrived around 10am and our room wasn't ready yet, which was expected since we were early. We came back when they told us to abour 4 hours later, and it still wasn't ready. After another hour it was finally ready. We were in the Orleans tower, weren't picky with the view, it seemed nice upon first glance.

As soon as we got into our room we took a quick nap. It was only after waking up did we realize our beds were missing some of the bedding. All we had were sheets and a very thin comforter. No blanket, no bedspread. Nothing covering the floral box springs. And each bed only had 2 pillows. But we decided to just deal with it and not make a fuss.

The shower was a different story. After running the water for a bit I realized it wasn't going to get any hotter and thus had to deal with a barely luke warm shower. If that wasn't bad enough the water kept stopping and coming back on, leaving you shivering and covered in soap!

After I had finally made it through the shower, housekeeping just busted into the room unannounced...at like 5pm. There was a bit of a language barrier so I couldn't really understand why she was there, but I dragged her inside and told her about the shower problem (I completely forgot to tell her about the bedding, I was too mad about the shower). She didn't understand what I was trying to say. She just asked if it was clean.

The plumbing problems continued with the bathroom sink. The water there kept stopping and coming back on. And as others have previously written, a toilet flushing can be heard throughout the entire floor. But our toilet kept making loud, weird noises (during times it hadn't been used) and we were just waiting for it to overflow or worse.

We had a nonsmoking room, but that didn't really mean anything. The room reeked of smoke, which I think was coming in through the air conditioning vent.

I will say that the room and bathroom were clean.

We decided to complain about the plumbing & bedding issues when we checked out. The customer service clerk was very apathetic. She basically said "what do you want me to do about it." She offered to get the supervisor. But the supervisor didn't come and the clerk said he had said to give us a $25 discount for our troubles, refunding our service fee or something like that. Seemed like a rather small amount considering the shower didn't work!

Don't waste your time here. You'll deal with continual problems in the room and apathetic staff.

  • Liked — Nothing
  • Disliked — The fact that the shower didn't work...and the apathetic staff
