“Five Days in Atlantic City”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed December 3, 2012

Just returned from a 5 day stay in A.C. First two nights were spent in the Showboat. I could not check in until after 4:00 pm. In the past I never had a problem checking in at noon. We ate at the buffet and that has also changed from serving lunch & dinner to one higher meal price all day long. This buffet has alot more choices than most other buffets in town. This buffet is open every day, but thursday which I think is great . Hate staying at a casino that closes their buffet during the week and you have to go else where to eat. All the food I had was hot & well seasoned. Was so good I ate there the next day also. Thursday they are closed ,so we went to the buffet at the Golden Nugget. That buffet has a lot less dishes to choose from. You may sit where ever you want and the people in the dining area and servers are very nice. Have eaten there several times and the people behind the serving line are the worst you will find. When you ask them for something they dont speak english & they give you a blank look. I usually eat a late lunch around 2;30 pm and they switch to a dinner menu at 4;00 pm .At this time the woman chef who also carves the roast and turkey can not see you standing at her station . She will avoid helping you . Felt like reaching under the glass and carving my own meat. She disappears into the back room and customers are lined up waiting for help until they tire and go back to their table or ask a server where the carver is. Dont eat the pizza. Food is not replenished or changed often enough. Desserts were very good and a variety of fresh fruit was available. First two days I played the slots at the Showboat. They have installed many new machines since my last visit. The older slot machines i played in the past were much tighter now. Next few days we stayed at the Taj Mahal. Slots here were very tight. I played the two new Elvis machines and it cost me $40.00 & all i got was to hear Elvis sing several times. That night i played the same machines at the Atlantic Club and found Elvis was loaded with features & bonus games that could never come up at the Taj Mahal. The Atlantic Club was better than Showboat, Taj Mahal or Resorts. Friday all the casino buffets go up in price ,but the Atlantic Clubs buffet was only $9.99. Unbelievable ! and the food was great , lots of choices too. On friday if you earn $1.00 comp your meal is free. I can see them taking customers away from all the other casinos. At 9:00pm they had a drawing for $50,000.00 in a ballroom upstairs. Everyone who has not been there for a year & new sign ups were entered in a drum. The money and slot cash was split between 64 tickets pulled from the drum. You did not have to be there and the people who were there got a door ticket and later these numbers were pulled for another 30 people that got $500.00 or $250.00 slot cash. This also was a much better offer than other casinos. Atlantic Club was packed and the slot machines bonus features there were working better . On my next trip I will be staying at the Atlantic Club. The parking was free if you had a players card at the Golden Nugget & also at the Atlantic Club. $5.00 at the Taj Mahal. The Taj & Showboat have check in at 4:00 pm . Check out at 12:00 pm. Last trip i stayed at the Resorts and did not like it because check out time is 11:00am. When i stay up until 3:00am gambling I dont want to check out an hour early and I am not going to pay extra for a later check out time. I will stay somewhere else . Resorts is in need of alot of maintenance . The escalator near the buffet was rumbling and growling ,screeching. When i got on it I could not wait to get off for fear it would stop suddenly and toss me for a loop. Slot machines in Resorts were evenly split good & bad. Overall we had a very nice vacation in Atlantic City. Did not come out ahead.

“Cheap yet elegant room”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 2, 2012

A friend and I were looking to stay come place cheap in Atlantic City on the boardwalk and I chose to book Showboat through Hotels.com for a total of $45 including taxes. We stayed on a Sunday in November, which is the off-season for sure.

That being said, Showboat's rooms are very nice and seem to have been updated recently. I'm 99% sure we were in the Orleans tower, and I had no issue with it. I've stayed at the Chelsea, Tropicana and Trump Plaza in the past and Showboat ranks among them. We only stayed one night and didn't use any amenities other than the room itself. Best of all, we actually came home with more money than we started with... doesn't happen often, but left us feeling great!

Only downfall was the sound of the toilets flushing around me woke me up quite a few times, however, I'm a VERY light sleeper.

“Room needs to be remodeled.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed December 1, 2012 via mobile

The Rug needs to cleaned or Replaced. One of the chairs had a BIG stain, we did not want to use it. We stayed on the 12th floor view was the top of other hotels. The carpets in the hallways need to be cleaned. The Ice machine on the 12th floor was dirty
Hotel loby and Casino are nice.

“Orleans Tower is Horrible”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed November 28, 2012

I have stayed in the Bourbon Tower 5 times and always enjoyed it but this was my first stay at the Orleans Tower and it was laughable. First off the room is very run down. The carpet had multiple stains on it. The head boards had veneer peeling off and the windows were so dirty on the outside you could barely see out. I thought the bathrtoom was fine and liked the large bathtub. As this was a smoking room there was no ashtray and no hotel directory with room service menu, no big deal. I have never been in a room with such poor insulation. You can hear every word of people walking down the hallways, the maid banging on every door at 9am in the morning and even my next door neighbour even though there was no connecting door. You can hear all the toilets flushing the bathtubs running, it was hilariuos. This tower is defiately at the bottom of the barrel in AC. When I got back to the room late Saturday night a bottle of ketchup had been thrown at the door next to mine. Reminded me of my college days. The slots at this casino are sooooo tight. I lost over $1500 playing minimum bet of no more than 50 cents per spin and the biggest hit was $60.00. The same thing happened when I was there in January. I will not be back to the Orleans Tower even if it was the only free place in Town. I would stay at the Bourbon Tower again but will gamble else where.
