I booked my stay here based on the reviews I had read on this site (Tripadvisor). When I walked into the lobby, I was sure that the bad reviews I had read were just nit-picky people who were impossible to please because my first reaction was "how can a hotel with a nice lobby have such awful rooms?".
Let me start by saying that the hotel seemed free of any bugs, which was my main concern; HOWEVER, the beds are truly as hard as a rock and the walls are paper thin!!! And don't expect any of your rooms furniture to match! I'm sure this place turns a profit, so I'm wondering why it's decorated in yard sale chic. Seriously! There is such a thing as a tax write-off for business expenses!
My main complaint, however, is not the decor, and I understand that management cannot control this, but we were right next door to party central. Again, the walls are paper thin and earlier in the day, we could hear other guests' televisions and conversations as we walked down the hall. But most of the other guests quieted down after 9 pm. But our neighbors didn't! Evidently, they had never heard the term "indoor voices" because rather than "talking" to each other, they were yelling to each other. Rather than complain to the main desk, I thought I would be nice and knock on their door. The young man who came to the door was friendly, I told him we were planning to be up around 5 or 6 am, and he told me they were leaving anyway (this was 11 pm), which they did. All was quiet until around 3 am when they came back and it sounded like they were in the room with us.
Sorry, but I can be a b*tch when provoked. At 6 am, we returned the favor by slamming doors, slamming the toilet seat up and down, yelling at each other rather than using our "indoor voices", and making as much noise as we could until we heard them stir around next door. I hope they enjoyed their four hours of slumber just as we enjoyed the few hours of sleep they allowed us. Maybe they will be a little more respectful of other guests the next time they decide to stay at a hotel!
In all seriousness, again, the hotel seems clean although not very well decorated, but if you plan to actually sleep during your stay here, you better hope you have decent neighbors because there's NOTHING blocking any noise! If you are next to neighbors from hell, don't expect to rest here.
I don't have a tip for a good room. I'm guessing one is about as good as another here.
