My husband and I and two friends decided to spend a few days in cooler weather and decided that Atlantic City would be the place to go as we all love to gamble. We arrived at the hotel at 5PM and were told that all of the "good rooms" were already given to those who checked in before us. Well, since check-in was at 4PM we didn't see how that was possible. We had reserved a double, non-smoking room and our friends had reserved a double smoking room. Again, we found out we were a little late...there were no smoking rooms left. Also, there were NO rooms at all at the Bally's hotel, and they gave us two of the OLD OLD rooms that were in the old Claridge Hotel Tower. Our rooms connected and between the two rooms, they were barely the size of one nice room. Our view from the windows was of the old Sands Hotel that was in the process of being gutted and torn down. The noise was deafening, beginning at 8AM and continuing all day. The room itself was very shabby and the carpet was badly in need of replacement. The rooms both had a definate odor of sewage in them. The bathrooms were so small that the door barely cleared the commode when you opened it.
Outside the rooms, the hallways had the same offensive odor as the rooms. The good thing I can say about the room is the linens were clean and seemed fairly new and the bed was comfortable. So we slept well until we were awakened by the construction noises coming from next door.
We found the casinos in the hotel - the Claridge casino, the Bally's casino and the Wild Wild West casino - to be empty. Most of the table games were never opened and the ones that were opened had few players.
The food in the regular restaurants, the Garden Cafe and the Sidewalk Cafe, was below par. It seemed that they catered to the patrons arriving by busloads for their FREE food.
Overall, we had a decent vacation but only because we spent hardly any time in our rooms. The gambling was fun and you never had to wait to play at a table or a slot machine.
We do plan to go back, as we were told that lots of changes were coming to the hotels in Atlantic City and upgrades and remodelling plans were in the works.
However, if you want the glitz and fun of a gambling town, don't bother going to Atlantic City. Go to VEGAS and have a great time!

We recently stayed at the Claridge Casino Hotel in Atlantic City, NJ so we could enjoy the boardwalk attractions as well as the casino activities.

After reading several conflicting reviews here on Tripadvisor.com we were concerned about our arrangements and made sure to arrive early in case we needed to make alternate plans.

My concerns were completely unfounded and we had a wonderful stay at the Claridge. Our check-in was smooth and efficient, our room was clean and taseful, the staff were all helpful and professional.

Our room had a beautiful ocean view and we could easily access the beach and boardwalk without going through the casino.

I have just returned from an overnight stay at Bally's Atlantic City. Stayed in The Claridge Tower, Room 714/king bed. The view was nice and at night it was lit up. There is a refridgerator, hidden in the Entertainment Center. The bathroom was very small, no fan, just a heat lamp. The bed was very comfortable, with 4 pillows, but surprised there was no extra blanket in the closet area. Check is was very good and fast. They offer Total Rewards Express Shuttle, to take you back and forth between the properities and it ran to my amazement every 15 minutes on the dot! The last one leaves at 2am. It worked out very well since I was attending a concert at the House Of Blues in the Showboat. You do need to use your room key to work the elevators, and naturally keep those room keys away from any credit cards or your wallet, or they won't work!
They offer a free Spa at the Claridge, which had a nice sized pool and a tanning booth. The tanning booth was filty, no door lock, will never use it again. Would suggest not even wasting your time on it. But other then that, it was a great time, decent room, considering it was comped and paid just $11.

My wife, in-laws and I stayed here for 2 nights recently. I had read the reviews on here and wasn't expecting much and it was a good thing I didn't. For one, we were given a room in the Claridge tower, which I would suggest people try to avoid. They were just out dated and dirty. There were stains on the rugs and the curtains were filthy. While my wife and I had no problems, my in-laws both showed bite marks on their bodies. I had read other reviewers saying they were getting bit so I can't say for sure it's bed bugs, but it seems that way. My wife and I brought our own sheets so we didn't have any problems, the in-laws slept with the hotel sheets.

I can't complain about anything else really though, other than the room. The staff was very friendly, the casino itself was ok, the restaurants weren't bad either. We've stayed at the Borgata, but it would be unfair to compare the two, since the Borgata is much newer. But I will say that I will never stay in the Claridge tower at Bally's again.

I stayed here from August 23-24 (2 nights). The first night we stayed in the Ballys Towers, which were fine. The rooms were large and clean. These rooms were comped to our group as a courtesy (we had 6 rooms in all). The checkin process took 45 minutes, which was a joke. We did not wait in line for 45 minutes...the actual time it took the desk clerk to process our 6 rooms took 45 minutes!

After 45 minutes, we were told that the rooms were ready, however we would have to switch rooms the following day due to shortage of rooms in Ballys. So we said fine, the rooms are being comped, no big deal.

The next day they move us to the Clairidge....wow...what a dump.

The elevators take 5-10 minutes to open and can only fit about 6 people in them with luggage.

The room itself? Well...how about peeling wallpaper, musty smell, old hair in and around the tub, layers of dust on top of furniture, old rough bath towels.....

We only spent a short time in the rooms to get ready to go out at night, and slept only 6 hours....so we got through it.

But...never never again...I don't care if they give me a free room and $500 in casino credit....from the customer service to the rooms, a total dissapointment.
