Idiots at the front desk couldn't find a reservation with both hands if it were taped to them, over an hour trying to check in (should have left but it was not an option, client supplied "hotel") finally got put in the roach motel, I mean claridge tower. The need to put a restroom near the claridge elevators, they are very slow and the area smells like many of the guests have had "depends" leaks while waiting. The rooms in the C tower are very run down, I didn't want to walk on the carpet even with my shoes on! nice echo off the 15' high concrete ceilings and walls heloooo...
I pretty much hate every casino I have ever set foot in, I can't stand the smell or the noise of these miserable places but this one was particularly fetid and nasty.
next time I see AC on my schedule, I'm running away!

I was hesitant to stay at Ballys but was reminded from someone in the industry that people that have something bad to say are more likely to leave reviews. So with that I booked Ballys for my stay. I am not picky by any means and usually stay at cheaper accommodations but I ws there to celebrate so I went for it. Lobby staff were nice at check-in but when we got to ourroom in the Claridge Tower we found cig burns on carpet and furniture, weed stems and seeds all over the carpet and tables, crayons and used paper in the drawers and a broken firdge. We overlooked this bc we read the reviews so our expectations werent so high and we could deal. Well we had a dinner res and went to iron our clothes and the iron (which didnt get hot) spit out opaque white liquid and ruined the item. We called the front desk and just asked for another room thinking it may be cleaner with less burnholes but were told by the front desk "well maam for what you paid theres not much we can move you to". I understand that maybe we couldnt be moved to the rooms that were available bc they didnt feel we were spending enough but YOU DONT TELL PEOPLE THAT. So, after that we were approached by security in the hallway for id (im 30) bc you have to be 21 to cut through the casino, after the women checked my id I asked her where the restaraunt was, she looked at me laughed and stared at me w/o an answer. I am a nice person and the tude was not warranted. So, I took my unappreciated $700 and left. as far as the casino, it is a bit depressing. Its full of elderly ppl sitting by themselves feeding their money into the slots like zombies. My advice, stay somewhere cheaper or spend the money the stay at another hotel on the boardwalk. Resorts and the trop were the nicest I saw during my stay, and professional

I went to Atlantic City to put my boat in the water- I was born and raised in this town. Picked Bally's because it used to have a beautiful spa,gym and raquetball courts. My room ended up being in the old Caridge. The room was very tired- as was the whole building. Now I know why the room rates are so low- the establishment seems to be going out of its way to drag anyone in the door and try to get them to gamble away whatever they have. People were actually laying on the floor in the main lobby! Any trace of the high rollers is long gone. Walking thru the casino at 1:00 AM was depressing and pretty grim. It was like "Dead Man Walking" but this was the casino version- mostly elderly people mindlessly pumping their money into machines with loud disco music blaring in the background. The excitement and novelty of the casinos in AC is nonexistent now. It has been replaced by a surreal mixture of tackiness, strange characters, thugs and a marketing strategy that seems to cater to the lowest common denominator.I would recommend staying away from the Boardwalk properties- they have the feel of being in their final days- and it is a shame- that beautiful beach and boardwalk deserves better then this.

I have read MANY MANY reviews about Bally's. I was nervous about going, so nervous I printed off my free room page from TR before we left in case we got a junk room I could always move to ceasars. I had booked a Premium room & that is what we got. We were on the 36th floor of the ballys tower, we were on the side facing ceasars if you looked out of the corner of one of our windows you could see the ocean. For free I was not complaining. The room was HUGE! CLEAN! & the bathroom.. my friends were drooling & they were staying at ceasars.. THe bed was comfy, we slept great all 3 nites. The last nite there we were given a Basket of goodies from Bally's as a Summer Promotion, they are randomly giving gifts, points & room upgrades to people. We got picked! I was having guests in so it was perfect we had free snacks & drinks! The casino was alright, I spent less in 3 days in A/C than I do in 6 HRS in Vegas. I didnt go home rich but I had $$ so that was a good thing! I especially had luck in the Wild West section one nite about 10pm-2am.
I paid $10 one day for pool use & it was used for about 30 min, after that it was beach only, that is the ONLY thing i found ridiculous is to charge for pool usage. I NEVER paid for that anywhere else. The restaurants were mostly closed but there is like 24hr food places all over the boardwalk.. so LEAVE the hotel for a 5 min hike & find food.. Its cheaper & better tasting anyway, we ate at 6six bistro & it was awful, luckily a diamond friend got us ahead of the hour wait but the food was horribly overcooked & tough. $4 for a GLASS OF JUICE? It was gone in one gulp.
Customer service was pretty good, I couldnt find a casino host before checkout on Fri but the deskclerk called them & they comped some things for me also. That was real nice. We had a great stay & a LOT of fun for our first trip to AC! I cannot wait to go back!
He only thing I hated about HET in AC is Platinum members might as well be gold as they are worth nothing there compared to Vegas.. I was sorely dissapointed in that.

I booked a luxury room. When I arrived with my grandmother for her birthday along with my aunt who was staying a night, we were dumped in a broom closet in the Claridge. My aunt was told they would not have a room for her until 5PM. My aunt was getting afixiated from the bleach smell from the bathroom in room 1932 while she was waiting with us until they had her room ready. My grandmother has breathing trouble and the smell was aggravating her breathing. I booked my room months in advance. We went downstairs to complain since the phone had no front desk button and the operator gave me to a person that does not pick up the phone. They told me that they usually give people what ever room is available regardless of what they booked. I feel you should get what I booked well in advance. Then they wanted to put us in a smoking room when we requested non-smoking since my grandmother has trouble breathing. Saundra told me to hang on a moment. She said there were no luxury rooms available although she upgraded me to a Premium Room. She gave the smoking room to my aunt. We were all placed in the Bally's purple tower. The room was much nicer and larger and there is a front desk button on the phone with someone who actually answers. They give you shampoo and conditioner, although you have to call housekeeping to get mouthwash. In addition, they never told me I needed the slips they gave me at check-in to use for the casino shuttle or beach bar. The lady who dumped me in the Claridge Tower told me they were for the Spa. There are not enough restaurants to eat at and you have to wait on a long line for usually at least a half hour. Only one elevator was working most of the time therefore, guests who just arrived were lined up all the way near the casino. Overall, Bally's is very unorganized and short staffed. The casino pit managers were busy yapping instead of entering the players card information thus causing the table players to loose credits. If you stay here and have a problem, see Saundra at the front desk, she is extremely helpful and should be commended. I will try Caesar's next time even though they are also owned by Harrah's since their restaurants and casino seem much more organized.
