Just got back from a trip to AC for a family event. I booked three rooms; one for myself and a friend, two others for my aunt and uncles. The rooms were spacious and clean, the bathroom similarly roomy and immaculate. It was also very quiet, even in the room near the elevator. Everyone on the staff, whether we spoke with them in person, called them over the phone, or dealt with them at the counter, was warm and friendly.
I'm not a gambler, but a couple of people in my party hit for a few hundred dollars at the slot machines in the casino, which was nice.
Our stay was mid-week (Wednesday and Thursday nights) in mid-June. The prices on the hotel website were very good in comparison to most of the other casinos, and by going through one of the discount services, I saved over $20 per night per room. Even at the higher rate, if you are looking for comfortable and clean accommodations at a reasonable price, this is definitely the place to go. If you are looking for the last word in luxury and are willing to pay the price, then you might be happier with one of the other resorts. Did the rooms show a little wear? Maybe if you looked closely. Nothing particularly leaped out at me. Was the decor a tad outdated? Possibly, but it was still very attractive. I understand some of the rooms on other floors have been renovated, so perhaps you could ask for those. We'd booked at the last minute and didn't really have that much of a selection.
Amenities were the usual: refrigerator, coffee maker, hair dryer. I paid about $12 per day for internet access through an ethernet DSL cable. A cab driver later told me there was free wireless access through the casino. The TV was not a flat screen, if such things matter to you.
Location: This is at the far end of the casinos, and if you are not a walker and don't want to move your car, you may want to take a cab to where there's more action, shopping, restaurants (and more noise). However, the jitneys also stop at the Hilton, so you have a number of travel options. It is right off the beach, but the family event that took us to AC didn't allow us time to spend at either the beach or the pool, alas, so I can't rate those.
Food/Restaurants: We had dinner at the buffet, which was reasonably priced and served reasonably good food. The peel-and-eat shrimp and five-spiced pork loin were particularly good. The friend who shared the room with me ordered room service and was pleased with the food and the service. I'd rate the pot of tea I ordered as okay, rather than great: standard orange pekoe teabags and only two small disposable plastic pods of honey. Two of the upscale restaurants weren't open the nights we stayed there, only serving on the weekends. I don't know if that will change once "the season" truly gets under way.
